Do not drink coffee here if you have tree-nut allergies. I have tree-nut allergies. They aren't severe, so I normally don't worry too much about cross contamination. However, no matter what, whether I am the first person in or somewhere in between, I have a reaction to this place. I have told the cashier about my allergies and still experience stomach aches, and a hurting, swollen throat. I'll admit, the coffee does taste good. It's good quality and the food looks lovely and homemade. The atmosphere and interior design Is also beautiful. But it simply isn't worth me feeling sick. I really wanted to like Jitters, but it doesn't seem like their sanitation is on par. Realistically, in a place like this, they should have a second station for their allergies. Or wash the machines in between drinks to prevent cross contamination. I'm not sure if they're sharing spoons with several ingredients or if the products they use aren't safe.. but something is wrong. If anyone has a severe allergy, let me be the warning to not try your luck. There is a high possibility you will become incredibly lll and need your epi-pen. read more

This amazing, independent coffee shop in downtown Joliet--a few blocks from the courthouse, library, and casino--serves Intelligentsia coffee (Chicago based brand), homemade sandwiches, and desserts. Everything about Jitters gives you a "welcome to my home" comfort. The owner is lively and jovial. The dining area in the back is an eclectic collection of furniture, art, and lighting. (Some might view it as piecemeal decorating, however, I welcome it to the brand monotony provided at chain coffee shops.) The stacked breakfast sandwiches are piled with egg, cheese, bacon or sausage, on a variety of bread options (croissants, bagel, etc.). If I was entertaining for brunch, this is exactly what I would offer! *The only drawback to Jitters is the unpredictable hours. While I routinely visit about once or twice a month, there have been several instances where I am turned away by a handwritten sign citing reason for closure. Considering it's the same two ladies every time, I understand; they're doing their best to keep a small business downtown Joliet. Driving anywhere from :20 to :30 in traffic, however, makes this a truly frustrating experience. My recommendation: if Jitters is a jaunt for you to get to, call ahead. read more

They have some healthy food like avocado toast. It doesn't look like a place that people would say is hip but that doesn't mean if you come here you aren't cool. Lots of tasty coffee drinks and breakfast food to choose from. They have some unexpectedly healthy options. Prices are pretty cheap compared to a lot of other coffee shops around. The coffee here is Intelligentsia. It's $3 for a cup. They have some non dairy milks like almond and oat. Avocado Toast is one of the food options and kicks ass. It's $5 for a slice. This is topped with cucumbers, onions, and tomatoes. It makes a hearty breakfast. This is a good price for something that's usually sky fucking high. Best place in Joliet for breakfast. Went for the first time with my Mom recently. We were greeted with enthusiasm about 9am on a Tuesday morning. It was relatively busy, but the food case was chock full of tasty sandwiches, salads, and pastries. It smelled divine inside, and the vibe is great! Lots of comfortable seating and tables with great art on the walls. I believe it was the owner who answered our numerous questions. She was great and patient. Let me tell you the avocado toast is one of the best we've ever had. The breakfast bagel was huge and delicious as well. Jalapeño cheddar with egg, sausage, bacon and cheese!!!! Wow!!! Brought half home it was so big! I got an almond joy latte which was great. Mom got amaretto hot chocolate and loved it! What a treat! I've been coming to this place for years. When I lived in Joliet this was a prime spot to meet the girls for tea and coffee. They have a nice area in the back where they play classical music and couches to lounge in while your catching up on work, school or just visiting friends. They also have free WIFI. Their sandwiches and soup here are also great. They had added some new additions to the food selection, which I love. My go to is the turkey fresco. These sandwiches are stacked with meat the bread is always fresh. Don't worry my vegetarian friends, they have options for you also! The cup cakes are from the Sweet Gallery and were delicious. The soft moist cake was complimented with a soft creamy topping that is not over sweet like most cupcakes. Stopped here before a funeral service for two good friends, and it was the perfect stop to relax for a bit and have a quiet moment. There was a sweet tiny little boy "helping" the person running the registers, and a small selection of discounted day-old baked goods. The interior is coat and eclectic, with art displayed on the walls and a sofa and if I remember correctly - books and board games and things. Cute eclectic coffee/cafe shop in downtown Joliet. The food is fresh delicious and portioned very generously. One thing that really stands out about this place is their "pending coffee" for $1.50. What it is. Is that you donate that amount and any and all homeless people or those less fortunate can walk into the establishment at any time and get a free cup of coffee. What a terrific idea. I strongly encourage all of us who are not so unfortunate to always contribute the extra $1.50 when purchasing ones own coffee. Their prices are such that your tab will still not approach that of the big chain and it will be a feel good thing for oneself. Pay it forward!!! Parking is a hassle but still doable. As farad I can see there is no free parking reasonably close. Parking comes too 1.00/hr and is metered. Finally got around to visiting my favorite coffee shop today, They aren,t making their wonderful sandwiches any more, but they still had a selection of soups and pastries available in addition to the signature beverages... I was able to get a cup of cream of chicken rice soup, a salmon bagel and a small caramel machiatto. The soup was delicious and gourmet tasting as always and the salmon bagel was fully loaded prepared to order with a bakery sized choice of bagel and all the fixings, super gourmet! The name itself is so intriguing, but I just wanted to be additional 5 star reviewer for them. The aroma of delicious breakfast items fill the air which complements the coffee I have been sipping on. The staff's greetings were warm and genuine and after that first "Good morning", I felt like I belonged here. The barista sparked up some small talk, but the difference with her was she was actually interested with what I had to say and that is hard to come by nowadays. It was a lovely conversation to begin my day and a lovely place to sit and sip on my coffee. The baristas even know their customers by name and by order, I have witnessed the last three customers being greeted kindly in just that way!! We stopped in here to kill time before Tin Roof opened. It was a gross, rainy day and we wanted to warm up. I had one of the best Hot Chocolates of my life. I added a shot of Peanut Butter Syrup to it and didn't notice it too much. I'd ask for extra Syrup next time, but the Hot Chocolate itself was superb! I forget what my Husband ordered but he was quite happy with it. We split a Cinnamon Bun that seemed a little past its prime but it was still good and the icing was very tasty. Seating is abundant and you can get lost in your own world in the back if it isn't busy. We'd definitely return here over any of the chain coffee shops. read more
