I ordered takeout on Thursday night. Food was hot and ready in 20 minutes. Service very friendly.
Kee Mow with beef. This dish came with a variety of vegetables including green beans, beans sprouts, shredded carrots, tomato, bell peppers and I think there was some onion. Although the beef is tender, it is not isn't cooked particularly enticing. No char nor any caramelization to it. Almost as if it were steamed or, more likely, poached, with the other ingredients. This might not bother most people, but to me it made the two dollar surcharge charge feel frivolous. Next time I would get a combination of shrimp and chicken. Wish this dish had more gravy. Actually, I think it actually did have more gravy at first: the carry out container was a flimsy Styrofoam, and the bottom of my bag had small pool of gravy in it. Sad face. With that said, I don't think their noodle dishes come with much gravy anyway in the first place. I usually like white rice noodles for texture, but these were way over cooked ---all mushy and broken down. Another sad face! Nonetheless, despite the lack of gravy and condition of the container and noodles, the dish was very good. The veggies were fresh, plentiful and cooked perfectly (al dente) and the dish carried a good amount of spice with glorious fresh basil flavor coming through!
I also ordered Pad Woon Sen with beef. Yes, another gravy-less noodle dish, whoops. This this was only a disappointment because the broccoli was barely cooked it all! I had many bits of scrambled egg, which I like. I was also a bit disappointed to find out it was made with cellophane noodles, but I'm not holding this against the restaurant's rating at all. My fault. I should've been more aware of what I was ordering. I picked this entrée for the bok choy, zucchini, green onion and broccoli... And those veggies are pretty much the only reason I ordered it! Thankfully the vegetables did not disappoint. In fact, again, I would not choose beef in the future, but rather a vegetarian option for this one. That way I would get even more of those glorious the zucchini and bok choy pieces! I would probably also request they either hold the broccoli altogether, or cook it more. Flavors of this dish or harder to pinpoint. It was not particularly sweet, not particularly salty, definitely had no spice... It seemed almost smoky and... Smoky is really not the right word. I really can't describe it! In the end I liked it a lot.
I also ordered the Thai crêpe, which is the second time I've had this here. The egg crêpe comes wrapped around with a nice amount of shrimp stuffing, which is seasoned with a heavy hand of white pepper (almost too much for me). It's a big appetizer! I think there's also chicken in it, but it's hard to tell because everything is shredded up. There's a definite coconut flavor that comes through in the egg. If you're adventurous, I definitely recommend you give this appetizer a 'go! read more
