This is my new sushi spot since I moved to Downey! Have not dined it but have ordered take out a few times. Sushi is great, edamame is my favorite!! My go to order is the Mexican roll + garlic edameme. Only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because I ALWAYS ask for EXTRA spicy mayo everytime I call in for take out, they always assure me they will include the extra spicy mayo and they NEVER go through with it. Last night I ordered a total of 3 rolls and side of garlic edamame and got ONE spicy mayo... ONE for 3 rolls. Next time I will check inside bag before I leave because this has been the 3rd time this happens. If you ask for extra sides make sure you check before you leave. read more

For my first post-quarantine meal out, my husband and I randomly stopped at this sushi place for lunch while running errands. It was about noon, so it was pretty empty. We sat at a small table outside and the waitress came and took our orders a few minutes later. She was really friendly, wore a mask the whole time she helped us, and gave us some good recommendations for the next time based on what we liked in our meal. I had the Philadelphia roll, and tuna roll, and an albacore roll. My husband had the 911 roll, tuna sushi, and a tune ceviche tostada. I liked my food, and actually had to take some of it home. It was pretty filling. My husband liked his food, and especially loved the tostada, although he wanted a lime to cut through the sweetness of the sauce. But he said he would order it again. I tasted it too, and it was great, but again, the sauce is on the sweet side. I'm glad there is a good, casual sushi place in the neighborhood, and I will definitely be back to try more stuff. read more

I used to be a regular at another sushi restaurant. Came here after the wait at the other place was too long. And I have never went back. Sushi is fresh, great portion and delicious. Have been a regular here for a few months. The chefs James and Daniel are awesome. They will whip up something special for you at the bar. Was looking for a different place to try sushi and this place came up with great reviews. My boyfriend and I got the dragon, fuego, murana, snow cone, and monster roll. Each roll was delicious! All great quality and the fish was incredibly fresh. The staff are incredibly friendly and make sure to repeat your order back to you to make sure it's correct. We will definitely be back. The food is good. I just feel that their service suffered due to the onslaught of pick up orders. We waited a very long time for entrees and rarely had someone check in on us. Plus important to note you will be charged an automatic tip fee if you have six people or more with you. Which seems fair but did catch me off guard. One of the last great sushi spots in Downey left in my opinion. Always taste fresh, orders come out fast and our server is so sweet and attentive. I ordered the vegetable tempura, one of my pieces fell out and she replaced my order without me having to say anything. My kids love sushi and ordered the sushi burrito, they love it! Thank goodness this place replaced Masa Sushi. Masa was nice enough but his wife was rude and always seemed to be in a bad mood. I think she ruined the business. Jin Sushi is delicious, and they know how to run a business and treat their customers. You really can't go wrong with any choice you make. Good stuff! read more

I placed an order to go today. The salad was good, HOWEVER The ginger that is pre-packaged to-go, tasted and smelled like a dirty wet towel. I am not exaggerating, I had to spit it out! I hope the owner is reads this today and chooses to inspect the ginger and toss it out. read more

This is the second time my friend and I got to enjoy the greta sushi world at Jin Sushi. The first time, we did take out. The second time, we did dine in. It was a nice experience. We ordered the assorted tempura, the baked salmon roll, the Jin albacore role, the traditional salmon roll, too hot green teas, one hot premium sake a special for $1. They have a special going on with rolls: buy one get 50% off. Needless to say, everything tasted delicious. We got sited as we were waiting for a food. A cockroach was rolling up in my son's lag. He shook his lag and stamp it. I got the waiter attention that there was a cockroach. Today for dinner we decided to try out the New Sushi spot in Downey. We were greeted Kindly by our server Gina. Since we are Salmon lovers we just had tried the Salmon Sashimi with Yuzu Ponzu sauce and topped with chopped Onion.it was very Tasty and the Salmon was Delicious. we also ordered the Spicy Salmon Hand Roll on Soy Paper it was very Yummy indeed By the Looks of it .I think Jin Sushi is here to stay ..Next Time For sure we are coming back for more Sashimi & Rolls soon. Dropped by yesterday for a late lunch and was immediately greeted and helped by a friendly woman. I ordered the Salmon Asparagus roll and the Real Crab Roll to go and both were great! I was a tad bit disappointed to find that my real crab roll wasn't wrapped with soy paper as described in the menu, but no big deal, it was still delicious! I visited this restaurant when it first opened... I got sushi rolls and they were so fresh and delicious. I ordered a couple of times since then and it seemed each time the quality went down. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, I like to shop local from smaller businesses; so tonight i ordered food for my family. The teriyaki chicken was dry and bland, the lobster roll was only ok, and the bulgogi bowl was so dry and meat was tough. We threw away half of our dinner including the potstickers, which weren't enough to salvage our whole meal... there went $56. This place is so close to my house, so disappointed :( read more

Finally a good sushi spot in Downey!!! Been waiting on this one for a while. We were able to take advantage of the opening week specials and Jin Sushi did not disappoint. We've ordered 3 different times and the result has been consistent. Great packaging of the rolls, sauce on the side so that the rolls don't get soggy when you get home, careful about my shellfish allergy and the rolls are fresh and delicious. Their fish has been fresh on every occasion. They have a solid variety of rolls to choose from and you gotta love the creativity of the names of their rolls.
