The food is great here. We had a favorite spot for Chinese food in Oakland, but they sold it to a new owners and the food is not the same. This is place is our new favorite and the food is always fresh. The portions are generous! My fav is the general chicken I call in my order for pick up, so I can't speak on dining inside. It's the Fruitvale District, but I didn't care. I was craving some low-key, homemade Chinese goodness. You know, those type of jewels that we find in the San Francisco area. But at Fruitvale? Yeah, I was kinda desperate. ....did a Yelp quality check of this place and I still took a chance. As soon as I drove by the place, school was out at 3:30 and kids swarmed the neighborhood. The main part of the building read, "Comida China". I thought it was pretty interesting considering there were several Latin citizens ordering from here. I kinda got hyped! I ordered Dry Fried Pork Ribs and a BBQ Pork Egg Fu Young (Lunch Special w/fried rice and egg roll). I did value the fact that my simple order took a good 15-20 minutes of cooking time. I would have grow suspect if my order arrived any sooner than 5 minutes. The food looked good at first glance, but I was disappointed at Jin Sing's execution. The Egg Fu Young was so heavily battered, that it tasted flavorless and starchy. My go-to dish lacked that silky egg goodness I was longing for. Additionally, the Egg Fu Young gravy was rather thick, dark and salty. It didn't do the egg dish any justice. The fried rice was served hot with little bits of pork dots. However, it lacked fluffy grains of seasoned rice. At least the egg roll was served hot and fresh. It was crisp and packed with cabbage and onions. It wasn't wasn't full of sodium. As for the ribs...disappointing. I was craving for sweet n' sour sauce just to mask the taste behind these dark and salty ribs. I feel like the ribs could have been dipped in a wet batter to deliver an epic crunch. At the ribs had some meat to it as opposed to cartilage and fat. On to the next one! read more

I love trying new restaurants when I travel, and this one was a great choice. Located directly across from the school, the smell walking in, enticed me to the different spices and flavors prevalent in Chinese cuisine. NOTICE: This establishment is CASH only. There are plenty of options for lunch combination plates, sadly (and understandibly) not all entrees were included. With that in mind, I decided to order staple sides; chicken chow mein and chicken fried rice. Since the entrée option I wanted wasn't available as a combo, I ordered broccoli with black mushrooms. The food took approximately 15 minutes to arrive to my table. Taste wise, I was NOT disappointed. The fried rice was out first. Perfectly cooked, the rice was firm and not greasy. The taste was buttery and savory with no soy sauce needee. Salted perfectly to taste. The chow mein, out next, had perfectly sautéed noodles and a great ginger, sesame seed oil, and garlic taste. The plate was slightly greasy, but not overly powerful in the mouth. The noodles weren't cheap quality, as noticible by the firmness and non doughy taste others have. The woks must thoroughly be seasoned, because the whole plate had a nice char smell taste that compliments the vegetables. Lastly, the vegetable dish came out and I was NOT disappointed. The mushrooms were kinda chewy but the broccoli was perfect. It was flavored with an oyster and black bean sauce that brought out the wonderful taste of the mushrooms. Overall, 5 starts for this whole in the wall Chinese restaurant. Definitely will come back again when I am in town. read more

This place is just okay. It's not the cleanest. I say down and was brought a dirty napkin with a fork. Ordered my food (Mongolian beef) and went to the restroom. I came back out and awaited my food, I was dining in and at no time was I offered a simple glass of water. I ate my entire meal without a beverage. To the food, the Mongolian beef was OKAY, at best. It was extremely oily, greasy, and the rice it was served with was okay. At the end of my meal I received the check, and a togo box which was both dirty on the inside and outside. Needless to say, I asked for another. I wanted to give this place at least 3 stars, but deducted a star for the lack of cleanliness and not being offered water while dining in. Comida China here is the best I've tried so far for a Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area. The owners are so down to earth. Been coming here for 20 years now and it's the same owners. Mandarin fish is a must get, so differently made then other places. Shrimp chow mein is so fresh and saucy. Food is decent as American style Chinese food goes, and in my opinion most Chinese food establishments taste the same. So please don't be turned off by the looks from the outside. What I did like was the fact the doors were open to the kitchen where you could take a peek at the heart of this place. What I saw was a clean, organized kitchen area and that goes a lot further in my book then the quality of the food. See in my humble opinion food can be left to the desire of one's taste, but what is universally a must across the board is a clean kitchen where your food is prepared.....and on this day at least it was looked to be very clean! I didn't like americanized Chinese food until I was old. I just never had any good Chinese food growing up. But now I know if you find a food enough place some of those staples like orange chicken or chow fun can be good. Unfortunately there aren't many good Chinese food offerings in East Oakland. First time trying this place was very successful. Very fresh, not overly greasy, and pleased everyone in the family. Honestly the one star knock off was for cash only and no fortune cookies. Oh and they were out of pot stickers. Totally would miss this place if you weren't looking for it. Will probably be out new go to when we are too lazy to go to Chinatown. read more

Good chinese food with great service less then a block from my house. The owners are super nice and theres some cool decorwtions inside and parking out front. I got a carry out order of honey prawns and egg rolls. The egg rolls came with 4 and were good albeit very greasy spring rolls which I actually prefer to egg rolls anyway. The shrimp tasted great. They were in a honey batter over a bed of coconut shavings and light crunchy homemade wonton strips and served with broccoli. It comes with rice which I mixed in as well. Just be sure to bring cash somebody needs to get these guys a square reader. read more

Great chinese food! Used to be cheap and cash only until about April '19 -- now they increased their prices by about $1 (still fair!) but in exchange they take debit/credit cards. It's a reasonable trade for convenience. The food is delicious and not overly greasy. It walks a fine line between comfort food and wholesome home cooking very well. The vegetables always shine in their preparations and taste fresh. Some of the sauces can end up a little thin for my usual preferences, but it makes it feel a little healthier. I have to start off by saying this isn't your average Chinese restaurant. If you're looking for Panda Express, you will not get that here. I have been coming here for as long as I can remember and am loyal to their chicken fried rice. I would say the Chinese food here has Mexican influence due to the demand, and their hot sauce is the best I've tried in any Chinese place I've been to... my family actually orders by the tub lol. Anyways onto to the actual review; this is a hole in the wall kind of place with limited parking. They currently only are taking to go orders due to COVID. This has not affected the quality of service though; the owner is super friendly and makes it a very efficient process. Every time I order for pick up, it is ready within a reasonable amount of time and the food is always fresh. I love their fried prawns, sweet and sour chicken, chicken fried rice and shrimp chow mein. They also have really great deals on lunch specials. My family and I would've loved to enjoy our dinner but we did not. Service was horrible...also we had a staff argue with us about not leaving tip when we were not aware this restaurant only receives cash. We started with hot and spicy soup - delicious and nice and hot (temperature) by it was cold outside. The salt and pepper fried fish was so delicate and non-greasy. I couldn't stop eating it. Service was very polite and prompt. The owner came over to ask everything was. No complaints, only compliments. My friend got the kung pao seafood dish - plenty of tasty, fresh seafood in it. We also got the three mushrooms dish but was too full to tackle that. That dish came home with us. read more
