This morning was one of those where I woke up and did a speedy review of the nights events in my head before I got up and became a real person for the day. Did I do anything embarrassing? Nope. Did I come home with all of my credit cards? Yep. Is my car home safe and sound? Yes. Then it hits me, I ate Jim's last night. DANG IT. After being angry with myself for the extreme stomach ache I will have once I get up and extra hour of cardio I will have to do later on I remember how DELICIOUS the sub was last night and for a moment I just sit and recall the drunken food experience and decided it was so worth it. My friends could not believe I have been living in Buffalo for a whole year and have never tried Jim's. After reviewing their menu with blurred vision I saw the word vegetable and decided I would be "HEALTHY." HA, there's no such thing at Jim's. I got a vegetable sub (want to say hero so bad, long islander habits) and it was so so amazing. Tons of grilled vegetables topped with some gooey cheese it was heaven. The guy behind the counter was a tad impatient. Would never ever come here sober however because nobody in their right mind eats this kind of food knowing how bad it is for you. read more

I go to Jim's all the time. I also tip all the time. I've tipped here the last 5 visits out of habit. The 1st time, the bald white guy cashing people out spent an inordinate amount of time flirting with a girl way out of his league, while the line grew longer & longer. Then he couldn't figure out how to process the Veterans discount when he finally got around to me. Guessing he was taking out his disappointment at being rejected on the competition. Second visit the guy making my sub apparent thought cheeseburger hoagie was really supposed to look like a veggie hoagie. Not once have I heard the Jim's hallmark "Thank You!" when anyone leaves a tip. Now I understand why the tip cup is always empty. Go down the street to Ted's for a better meal, or to Jim's on Allen where they have tables to sit at. read more

LOVE the 1/2 inch tuna sub on whole wheat with provolone, onions, lettuce, tom and mayo. every time i visit buffalo i make a stop here. it's just as good if it's 2pm or 2am. staff is fun- the back of their tee-shirts say "I see drunk people" nice touch! Just average food plagued by poor service. We were the only ones in the place and the guy behind the counter acted like we were bothering him. Got the Jim's original steak nothing special about it. Went to this location after a night out with my friends. We were celebrating him being home due to military duty's. I was in the front of the line and we were next and we walked up to the wrong cash register to order and the worker literally didn't ask no questions asked us to go to the back of the line for going to the wrong register. Assuming your reading reviews here to see if this place is right for you, I'll give you an honest answer, yes it is. Jim's has a variety of food that you can choose from. My favorite sub they have is the Diavlo which has steak chopped on the grill topped with fried hot peppers, melted cheese and Jim's Secret Sauce - all on a toasted Italian roll. All hoagies come in an 8 inch or 12 inch option. In the mood for a taco or possibly a wrap? wings? other hot or cold hoagies? How about a burger grilled to perfection? that's just a short list of options you can get here. If you're on a diet or just like to eat healthy there are different varieties of salads, from healthy to unhealthy salads, or even order one of each ;). There are a few different side orders you can add onto your order as well such as onion rings, chips and three different styles of fries: regular fries, taco fries, and if you're Canadian you'll love this more than anyone, the poutine fries. There are combo options you can choose from too which will give a slight discount if you order your food in that fashion. Think this can be your favorite place where you might start dropping some serious cash here to feed that Jim's craving? Ask them a Jim's card. This is one of the busiest Jim's on Friday and Saturday night since it's located right in the heart of downtown where thousands of people are out in the clubs burning their energy. What a better place to put a Jim's for refueling the drunk dancers leaving their favorite club looking for some drunk food to get their energy back. This is one of the best ideas for a company I've seen in a long time, and can see this place blow up and expand throughout the U.S as one of the next big things. I haven't had my favorite turkey hoagie in such a long time so I decided to treat myself to one for lunch. I'm so happy they now have 3 different size options. The small round roll is more than enough for me. I have never been to this location during daylight hours(or sober for that matter) and I'm happy to see the staff is just as friendly as always. Service was a bit slow, seeing as there was only one person in front of me. But to be honest I probably would wait twenty minutes for my heavenly turkey hoagie. Not ONE order was correct when we received it. A 5-sub order should not be that complex and none of the items came as Described on the board. We were eventually partially refunded by an impolite and "put out" customer service personnel. We were hungry and looking forward to the sandwiches we had been told about. What a location for a late fast food restaurant! This is my go-to when I am in town and after a night of drinks (even when I am not drinking) the food is delicious! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This location only gets 4 stars because it's soo cramped late at night since everyone from all the Chippewa bars are all pouring into Jims. Some are not ordering food but rather loitering around while others are trying to EAT. There is also no bathroom (well they say that but there really is one in the back that when they are not busy you can use but it's a dump) which is not the best idea when you have like 50 drunk people all coming to eat after having several DRINKS. Several drinks = restroom pitstop. They work with what they have at the location and if you order to go, that's probably the best idea as there's rarely room to sit and eat. read more

The staff often don't seem to understand my order so I need to literally point to the item on a menu. The late night clientele also seem a little rowdier than other places. Apparently taking three orders( two others already waiting) on a Saturday afternoon causes the workers to be very discombobulated. The manger (I think) was complaining that there were customers in the restaurant. She was yelling at the other worker as well. He was doing the best he could. It took about 10 mins for them to take my order. (I was the only one in line) Then it took another 30 mins to make my hoagie. If you don't want to bother someone by making them do their job that they get paid for, then this is not the place for you. read more

So here I was in beautiful downtown Buffalo NY when I heard of a late night joint. I end up showing up at 1:30 am and it's eclectic crowd - then again it's Buffalo at the wee hours. I had their steak hoagie with Jim's special sauce. Not bad but I suggest to skip the sauce and it will kick those taste buds into gear just the same, fries were tasty, the chicken fingers were so so but the 1/4 lb cheeseburger was nice. So head there if you get the munchies and don't worry as they definitely work late into the night. read more

I'm not sure how difficult it is to make a steak, cheese, mushroom and onion hoagie but apparently for Jim's it's quite difficult to get directions correct. Was hoping for something special based on other reviews, but sadly not the case. Being from Philly, I avoided the cheesesteak options since I don't trust anyone outside of Philadelphia to make a good one. Instead I went with the pulled pork and boneless wings to go. After the 2 minute trip back to my hotel, it was let downs in both cases - the processed boneless wings were nothing to write home about - and no bleu cheese in my bag?! Then when I unwrapped the sandwich, it was a soggy mess. Way too much of everything - too much pork, and far too much sauce. The roll was barely holding things together. I know it is a steak sandwich joint, but I prefer to be able to taste the meat and the roll - I didn't want a barbecue sauce shake. read more

We are in town from Texas visiting and were craving a Philly Cheesesteak. Someone recommended that we try Jim's and we were so glad we did! The philly was amazing and huge! I got the 8 inch and couldn't even finish it. The customer service was awesome and if we didn't have to leave for Texas we could come back again tomorrow. read more
