Had a horrible experience with this towing company. When my wife and I called to ask about towing a car that was blocking our garage, the representative immediately became hostile and refused to help without asking for any additional information such as our location. We called them because their number and sign was clearly posted in the parking lot. When asked about their sign, they told us to call another company and outright refused to assist in anyway. Ripoff artists. Called them this morning to get a quote on a tow. Was told that the normal rate was $85 but because we had two flat tires they'd have to send a flat bed for $120. They then sent a regular tow truck but demanded the flat bed rate. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS! read more

These guys are not ethical at all. I had my car towed by them, because they were the fastest that got to me. Here I was, thinking these guys earn honest money. Well f*** me I was in for a surprised. Here's how they make money: - Towing cost about $75 per hour. Towing within 10 miles would be at most one hour. Ok. $75. Fine. I can take that hit. - Bill comes out to $300+ dollars. WHY? They tow it to their own lot, and charge you TOW LOT FEES. The tow trucker driver FAILED to mention this to me at the time. What's worse is that I requested the driver to tow it to a auto shop my friend owns, but he said it would cost me more because they charge "handling fees" when tow to anything other than their own lot. That's pretty much a scam right there. Thank goodness my auto shop friend called me back the morning right after hearing my voicemail saying my car is sitting at Jim's Northgate's lot, telling me to get my car out of there ASAP, I would have been royally boned. Our car broke down and so I called AAA. A driver from Jim's arrived within a reasonable amount of time. He proceeded to assess the best way to tow the car. We really appreciated his care and patience to load our vintage car. This is not the first time that Jim's has helped tow a car to our mechanic. They bailed me out! I was all alone stuck in a parking lot late at nite feeling unsafe with a flat tire. With all recent events its scary to be alone that late at nite. I was almost killed by one of their drivers. I was riding my bicycle on 65 Ave NE when one of their drivers suddenly pulled out of a driveway. Luckily I was able to swerve and avoid a collision, which would have been serious or fatal. Normally I don't sweat things like this, but the driver's conduct at the next stoplight was appalling. He yelled at me to get on the sidewalk and that I need to "watch out" for him (despite the fact that I was in the traffic lane and he was pulling out from a driveway with no flagger). Extraordinarily rude, and demonstrating a complete lack of knowledge of traffic laws. If only a cop had been there. All that I can say is that if I need my car towed, I would hate to have that guy show up. read more

These guys were great!!! After calling AAA, told them I was in a dangerous area block traffic with a dead vehicle they gave me a 2 hour wait time, i waited for an hour, and then received another 2 hour wait time. I called this company on my own, was given a 35 to 45 min wait time, and they arrived in 40 min. The employee was EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND WAS CHEAPER THEN THE AAA TOWING. I had my car towed the exact same amount of miles by AAA and was charged TWICE AS MUCH, even with their "five free miles." The two truck driver was not only fast in getting to me, but got me to my destination quickly and safely and to top it off gave me $20 off for my hassles and some inside tips on how to work around AAA's bullshit. What a strange experience having to deal with these children. I'm not at all exaggerating when I say it's worse than dealing with an undisciplined four year old. Trying to have an adult conversation to fix the damage they have done is impossible. Fingers in ears, tongue out, the whole works. Shocking they can go through life acting like that. And one has a temper that makes me very glad to not be a family member. Wow! Total disregard for reality. Very rude, unprofessional, inconsiderate, trashy, and anything else negative one can think of to say about a towing business. I wouldn't be surprised if the employees purposely drained your battery to make sure you can't drive it off the lot or to make you pay extra days. My husband went to check on our car a few times to make sure things were OK and made sure our car still ran and nothing was broke or stolen, and when he turned on the car one of the guys barked at him told him he wasn't aloud to do so. I bet that guy drained our battery because he thought my husband was going to take the car! Every time hubby went to check on the car it wouldn't start! This wasn't even a week later! Poor, poor business ethic and horrible attitudes! Receptionist was nice. But maybe the other employees need a lesson in customer service. Just because they probably hate their lives outside of work doesn't mean they need to make everyone else' lives as miserable! DON'T GO THROUGH THIS TOWING COMPANY!!!!!!! Long story short, my car was towed because it was parked on private property. I called the posted signs and the dispatcher said I could pick up my car at Jim's Northgate Towing, but I would have to pay an $100 for after hour fees. I said it was okay and proceeded to the site but no one was there to release my car. After talking to the dispatcher twice about having one of their people come too the lot, it took an almost an hour for anyone to come. The tower whom I had spoken to had no idea that there was a request to release a vehicle and continued to be of no help. He said that he was not authorized to let me have my car back until someone else came in at 8am the next day. And said he didn't know how to complete the paperwork to do the release. He also said the paperwork is locked up in the office (the same office that he used his keys to get into right after he told me this). This lack of professionalism and properly training employees to complete simple and standard paperwork procedures is an example of a business that is run horribly. I don't expect to be treated like royalty, but I do expect an efficient transaction with no miscommunication between the employees. The man who was also at the lot would not allow me to retrieve my belongings from my vehicle. I had medications in an overnight bag that was in the car. How stupid is that. Lastly! I called Jim's later that day after I picked up my car and was greeted by an extremely rude woman who would not answer (or who would not try to find the answer) simple questions about the tow. Such as, '"Who called in to have the car towed?" "What is their contact information?" I was told to go to the place it got towed and ask for the property manager? Again, nothing helpful. read more

My car was recently impounded at Jims because I illegally parked in my apartment complex. I had played golf the day prior, and my clubs were in the trunk of my car. I pick up my car two days later, get home, and notice my clubs are missing from the trunk. I called Jims Northgate Towing only to hear a "I will ask around and get back to you". Haven't heard back yet. I proceeded to ask if they had surveillance in their yard...... of course they didn't. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. Scum of the earth type shit. Do not, under any circumstances, support this business in any way. I am currently working on a police report, and after seeing this has happened to other customers here, I will be taking even further legal action. Good job Jims read more

These guys are awful. I am an AAA member and called them to tow a recovered stolen vehicle that happened to be 1/2 block from Jim's tow yard. AAA gave the job to Jim's and said it would be 30 minutes. An hour later I called Jim's and asked how, with all the tow tricks going in and out of his yard (I could see them!). The guy said "oh, ok, I'll take care of that" and abruptly hung up. Another hour later I called AAA who reassigned the job to Spiveco towing, who finally came and towed me - WITHIN EARSHOT DISTANCE of Jim's tow yard! Jerks! read more

Since our move from Cali seven months ago, my husband's M3 drove into the apartment garage and then not driven once. When we moved last week, we found out the car could not start. I called donation, AAA, local towing companies, to no avail. Then I noticed the towing sign on the garage itself, and gave Jim's a call. They responded and how! Mind you, this is a super low clearance garage (I ran across the street to American Music to borrow a tape measure to get the clearance. BTW, the garage really should post a clearance sign). Tom from Jim's came to my rescue quickly, and then we had to push and pull the car to get it into position to be towed. Then the tow truck's cable got stuck, and John from Night and Day towing (I was told that they are the same company) came over to help. Both of them did a splendid job and I was super impressed. I called AAA on Sat. the 12th of Jan; "Jake" their driver was out in less than 15 minutes. Took great care to hoist my Cad up onto a flatbed, dropped it at the garage of my choice and did it all with a smile and in double quick time. I can't say enough about this service. My belongings were stolen out of my vehicle by the driver who towed it. Management is rude and not helpful. They don't care! Horrible business. Do NOT use them. They are even contracted with SPD and State Patrol. Watch out! They need to be shut down. read more

THese guys dropped off a towed car in front of my house. I nicely asked them why they were parking it in that spot. The driver became aggressive, yelling at me how the street was public and he picked that spot. If I can figure out how to report him to an authority I will do it. Do not use these guys! My wife had a dead battery in our truck. There driver first hooked up the jumper cables the wrong way and then shorted the positive against the radiation and blew a hole in it. I called the shop, talked to Jack, the owner I think, and he all but called me an idiot. I had to get the truck fixed myself. Do yourself a favor and call another company. Be whoever you call ask if they are affiliated with Jim's, they own more than one towing company. read more

After I was told it would take under an hour, I waited for over 2 hours in the cold and rain while I directed traffic around myself (I was on the side of the freeway). The man who showed up was dismissive and told my friend's girlfriend (who's car was being towed) that if she couldn't keep up with oil changes and basic maintenance she should sell her car. Despite the driver's comments to the contrary, the oil level was fine and the brakes were new, coolant had been recently replaced and all fluid filters had recently been inspected, meaning their driver had no idea what they were talking about. "Logan", as he introduced himself, relentlessly hit on my friend's girlfriend while he told us "not to get squished by the fast cars", like we were 5 years old. Then after we beat him to the location by over 5 minutes, he took very creepy notes on my friend's girlfriend (ie: where she lives, what she makes, if she likes her job or not) and I had to verbally cut him off so he would finish the necessary paperwork and he never handed me my copy. Logan is very lucky it was I who was there and not my Ex-marine friend who would have flipped had he seen what Logan was taking notes on his girlfriend about. Even if its my only option for a tow, I will never use Jim's Northgate Towing for anything involving my car. read more

My experience with Jim's Northgate Towing was awful. For the majority of our interaction, the man at the front desk didn't show a shred of respect for me. I'm 19, was clearly upset, and he was treating me like a misbehaving toddler. My car was unfairly towed and his response to my question about whether or not university village sometimes reimburses towing fees was an incredibly rude, "Not with that attitude, young lady." Only after I actually started crying because of how rude he was being and literally asked him to be nice to me did he soften up, change his tone, and explain that the fees were imposed by the city and had nothing to do with him. I'm not sure if that's completely true, but either way, having to pay $377 to get my car back one hour after it was towed is completely ludicrous. That's an absolutely insane amount of money, and it's saying something about Jim's Towing that the financial blow barely qualified as the worst part of the whole experience. Even after I told him to treat me with some respect, he made a comment to another employee along the lines of, "dumb idiots who get their cars towed have only themselves to blame." I omitted some stronger words from that - it was so blatantly disrespectful that all my friends and I could do was sit there in stunned silence. While we were there, an unhappy customer called at least 15 times. The first time, it was clear the customer's voice was raised on the other line. The man who was processing my paperwork literally HUNG UP ON HIM. The customer called at least 10 more times and each time he would answer the phone, listen for about 3 seconds, then hang up without a word. He finally just left the phone off the hook and when another line started ringing, he told another employee to let it ring. I'm pretty sure it was the same guy would had just been charged an unbelievable amount of money as I was arriving. Granted the customer was being abrasive, but I don't think I've ever heard of a business actually hanging up on a customer, albeit an unwilling one. Seriously, this place is a twilight zone. Avoid at all costs. read more

Hopefully they have some better customer service days in the future. I called on two occasions and the person answering was unfriendly, wasn't empathetic, and lacked some customer service skills. I was a few blocks away from their truck yard and needed a tow to a car repair shop that was just a few blocks down the street. He didn't set expectations for an ETA so I waited 40 minutes for someone to respond with a truck until I called again. He was again unfriendly and told me it'd be another 30 minutes. Understandably not all tow trucks can be at home base, however the person helping me provided a less than pleasant customer experience. I canceled the request and called their competitor Citywide Towing who had a superior customer service experience in a difficult broken car situation, and an instant responsiveness, even if for a few bucks more. Fortunately I was able to fix it before they could show up and I actually needed a tow. I recommend Citywide Towing instead and will call them in the future. read more
