Professional movers. Everything was moved and damage free. But some items were a little dirty (e.g. No plastic cover used for our mattress).

As an…read moreactual paying-thru-the-nose customer of this establishment, let me tell you, first problem is the hours, EVERY other storage company in the lower mainland is open until 9pm, even malls are open until 9pm, not here though, YOU CAN ONLY ACCESS YOUR LOCKER FROM 8am UNTIL 6pm! This doesn't stop them from deceptively advertising that they are open 24hrs, but thats only if you want to pay WAY MORE for a shipping container located outside of the building that is ACCESSABLE BY ANYONE. Why would this be you ask? Well this is problem number 2 and it is MAJOR: the units are NOT INDIVIDUALLY ALARMED! AND, THERE IS A SIGN IN-OUT PIECE OF PAPER so their SECURITY = LESS THAN ZERO. Problem number 3 is their $25 late fee, + $10 lock cutting fee (YES! THEY REALLY DO CHARGE YOU $10 TO CUT YOUR LOCK OFF WITH BOLT CUTTERS) + the cost of a new lock. You might think that they would be happy collecting all that extra $$$, but you would be wrong. My locker which cost me about $80 a month has actually ended up costing me about $125 every month cause I can't seem to make it in on time. but they call & email me (one month I got 15 emails and about 20 phone calls like their grandmother can't afford surgery if I don't get in there and pay them my locker rent and overdue late fees). Now, even though I do not complain about their huge late fees, and have been a customer over a year now, they still threaten to auction off my locker (like on Storage Wars) if I don't get in & pay by blah blah date. I don't have a car, but I will say the car wash looks nice and modern. So theres an honest representation of what you can expect if you choose to store your stuff with this business. THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT, JinX

Avoid Storguard Self-Storage - Misleading Security Claims!…read more If you value your belongings, do NOT trust this company! Storguard claims to be "unique in the industry" with their 24-hour on-site security guard and state-of-the-art digital surveillance--but these claims are outright lies. Here's what happened to us: Our storage locker was robbed. Thieves drilled out our lock in plain sight, outdoors, yet no one noticed. When we notified Storguard, their responses were shocking: Cameras weren't working the night of the robbery--so much for "state-of-the-art surveillance." They admitted they don't actually have an on-site guard, despite boasting about it online and in their marketing materials. Instead, they told us the "guard" works next door and supposedly checks in "once in a while." How could a security guard not notice someone suspiciously drilling a lock off a locker outdoors, in plain view? Needless to say, there was no guard on duty, no cameras recording, and no action taken to prevent or stop the robbery. Our expensive tools and personal belongings--including cherished Christmas decorations--were stolen. These items are gone forever. When we signed up, they assured us that this was the safest facility in the industry. Yet when we confronted them about their failure, they pointed to the fine print in their contract, which conveniently absolves them of responsibility. This company misleads customers with false promises of security to gain their trust and business. Their customer service is dismissive, cold, and unsupportive. They did nothing to help us recover what we lost. Don't be fooled by their fancy website or reassuring sales pitches. This facility is NOT secure, and their promises are a façade. Protect yourself and find a trustworthy storage company--Storguard is not it!

Then they all of a sudden added all these rules into our agreement that they didnt give me a copy of. Its always oh surprise you cant do this because it says this in the fine print all of a sudden etc basically. They tricked me into paying for a locker I am no longer using & moving out of, saying the system wont let you transfer to a smaller cheaper one until you pay for the one your 2 days overdue for paying for & you have to pay for the bigger one you wont be using, first, in order to transfer to the smaller one. Then you get credited back the remaining amount you overpaid. When I asked them over and over snd over and so many times and ways, they only answered some questions and ignored the important ones. They said the credit will go into your acount and be taken into your next storage locker. That doesnt explain anything & it probably wont be taking money off my next bill either. They told me this AFTER it was already done. Not before when I asked over and over many times and ways. There not even showing me where I signed and agreed to this. I tried to not pay and just leave to another storage locker but they said I couldnt because I didnt give 7 days notice. I asked where it said that on my copy or theres etc and they just ignored me again. Not to mention how I tried to call another company and I got them somehow originally, but that couldve easily been google or gpt char making yet another mistake but idk with how there acting dodgy with all there catches to everything lately. They forced me to pay for a bigger locker when now in a smaller one, wont refund the difference, make things up and add things as we go, get a computer to sign things for you, dont give you a copy, etc. Very dodgy.

The electrical outlets did not work, and when I asked about repairing them, I was always told it was being considered - never did get repaired. The lights always went out after 10 seconds, the place was not clean, heating was questionable - too hot or cold - no guarantees on the safety of your goods, even though you have to pay the required insurance! It is located in a homeless camp area. This is reportedly a problem, and they absolve all responsibility for anything that happens in this regard in the units! Moreover, upon new ownership, my rent increased drastically, as did the terms of renting - went from billing dates monthly to 28 days. Upon moving out, they informed me there are no prorated funds - so they have taken an extra 10 days of my rental time. My rental rate had increased by over $100 in the past 2 1/2 years. Customer service has been rude and condescending since the new ownership. There are far better, cleaner, courteous and more professional storage locations in Mission that offer prorated rentals.

I tried Sentinel Storage - Richmond a while back with their $1 trial as I planned on being away to Vancouver Island for a month and thought to put my things in storage. I didn't end up using the storage however although I did experience the registration and cancellation along with the tour of the storage facility. I remembered my sign up was effortless and quick. I made use of an ongoing promotion they had at the time which offered your first month for $1. (It seemed too good to be true.) It truly was $1. The staff were friendly and professional and the manager was very welcoming. They walk you through the sign up and tell you what you're signing up for, and their policies like you can't store food in your unit (understandably); you do require insurance for your items (whether by their provider or your own) however if I remembered correctly, the first month was free if the value of items was bellow a certain threshold (hence $1 was truly $1 true to the promo deals than any hidden fees). I wasn't planning on storing anything of value so I didn't need insurance for the month; I didn't end up using the storage however I did note the facility seemed clean and secure from my first and only visit. You are given a pin code for entry and you also have to bring your own pad lock for your storage unit. The unit was well sized and they have a variety of sizing to suit your needs however I just needed a small space intending to put some things from a condo while out for a couple months. In the end, I didn't use the storage and left it empty. I was out of town when renewal came about and so I emailed them requesting for a cancellation. True to their word, there was no gimmicks, ifs ands or buts - they cancelled the storage rental upon request without further billing. It was a very positive, effortless, and easy experience dealing with Sentinel Storage. Now storage services like gym subscriptions and cellphone providers can sometimes get a bad rap for hidden fees and relentless billing even after cancellation (At least so I've heard the stories - I've never had an issue with storage services in Canada for the two I've tried, and I'm not really a gym kind of person lol. Cellphones rip of customers with outrages rates compared to other countries but that's changing thankfully with more competition and regulation). It's nice to see professional services like Sentinel Storage (and another storage service in Vancouver I've formerly tried) were all honest, friendly, and professional. They provided the service that customer required and honoured their promotions and cancellation upon request as well. No false advertising and no tricks to keep customers billed for something they don't use. My experience personally at Sentinel Storage was a five star and I will certainly consider them if I require storage in the future. Thanks.

If you put a friend on your emergency contact, and then REFER them through their referral program (up to $100), you WILL NOT get the $100 referral bonus because they are on your 'emergency contact.' I was completely ripped off by their referral program because the person I referred was on my emergency contact list, and they are spending over $600 per month on a storage unit LONG TERM. Also, I was called by the district manager, and this sums up the phone conversation. *Ring Ring* Hello? -Yes, this is the manager for sentinel storage. Why you so unhappy? Why the google review? *Your employees didn't reveal to me that my storage rate would go up every 6 months, I'm not happy considering I plan on being there long term. Also, you ripped me off with the referral program. -Oh your not happy? How about we hold your rate until January of 2026. After that though, your rate goes up every 6 months. *Oh okay, well I'll take the lock in rate, thanks, but there's no guarantee I will stay after that* -Okay great, can you please update your google review? *Sure, but keep in mind that it's against google's TOS to ask your customers to change their review.* Company doesn't disclose the fact that they will increase your rent only 6 months after you've been there by almost 20%. This information was not portrayed to me at all upon signing my rental agreement. Sneaky business practices. Just make sure you understand that you rent WILL go up by a lot after 6-9 months. My partner and I have had nothing but troubles with this company upon joining. It took them 6 weeks to fix a lightbulb in my partners storage unit. They kept making excuses. Now the company is trying to enter my partner's unit without permission to 'fix' something and demanding he give them a key. I'm sorry, but what? Something just aint right. Pretty sure this is illegal. Hey, I may be wrong. Sorry Sentinel.
