We just used them for a big move and it was a great experience from beginning to end. They were the only ones to offer up front to send someone to look at our place to get a great and accurate estimate. They also strove hard to gain our business even giving us an awesome rate. In the end the move took longer than thought and they had more people come out, but maybe we moved more stuff too. Everything was handled very smoothly, and they take credit debit and e-transfer which is awesome. They also packed for us the day before which helped tremendously. read more

Well... this was an adventure. Packing and moving 4-bedroom half-duplex is not the easiest of tasks. However, Coty and his team made it amazingly stress-free and smooth. They reserved an extra large truck (apparently, we needed it, despite the fact that we didn't think we had THAT much stuff), booked the ferry in advance, and showed up ready to do hard work. So this was our first experience with movers. (Family of 2 adults and 3 kids) Going from near the PNE out to Coquitlam and was worried about all of our stuff fitting reasonable well. So moving day rolls up and 2 young's Irish lads show up and after a quick look about, get started right away. Let me tell you, Luke and Keen are some kind of god damn space-time bending space wizards or something. Not sure how but everything fit (minus a few over sized bikes that I wanted to take out separately anyways). I'm talking like the Great Pyramid of Giza, you couldn't get a sheet of paper between my boxes. So long story short, would definitely use them again. Not only was I charged more than quoted - I can let that slide. But when it was apparent that at least two items did not make it from point A to point B (one of which would be useless to anyone but contained many personal family albums from the last 35 years) they held no accountability. I contacted them daily since the unpacking only to be ignored. Two weeks later I was told "Once we leave the job we are not responsible for what has not been accounted for. If the items were stolen then you should be looking for the person who stole them. If it wasn't us then I see no reason we why should be responsible." Word for word. I lost years of sentimental value of no use to anyone else during their time in possession of my belongings. I trusted them. NO emptathy whatsoever no sympathy. You're not allowed in the truck with them so if your things go missing don't expect this company to care. THEY DON'T. The 2 that were sent took too long on the first part and it ended making the moving process to the new place to happen in a rush at the end. With me having to ask friends to come help to be able to complete the move fast enough to not lose the elevator booking, because I had the elevator book till 1 PM. And it sorta invalidated the point of getting movers that we not to bother then. Additionally, the move took 4 hours to complete when only 3 was the worst scenario planned for the amount of stuff that I had ( I understand that it was raining but the movers seem to be taking their time too much). Additionally, everything was boxed or disassembled to smooth the process. Finally, be aware that there is insurance(50) + taxes that was not included on the quotation that I was given. This was the best spent money! I had about 2500 pounds ish, these 2 guys had it all packed, driven from North Van to close to Kits in 4 hours. They were so friendly and didn't complain about anything. (Last movers were awful, not from this company) Someone blocked a portion of the loading zone at my new place, and they STILL didn't comment. Happily kept going! Most stress free move Ive ever had. I had a few things that needed to be protected,and I was worried I would have to load my own car full of things to move, which would defeat paying for movers, they packed it so fast and assured me it would be ok, nothing got damaged. disappointed after using them. It took them 3 hours to move a bed, a treadmill and a couch in a walk-up and cost 478$. Was advised they were ok to do a treadmill but the guys didn't really know what they were doing and lost the stop magnet on the treadmill. Also put a small tear in my couch. Damage was minimal but there could have been better communication about the treadmill and what would be required as we would have taken it apart ourselves to move it. read more

I demanded an explanation for items I was charged wrongly for. If you showed courtesy and explained each item to me, I would change my review without even a penny paid back. What did I get wrong? did you not tell me there will be no cost on top of the movers time over the phone? or did I pay with a credit card that your bill is showing a charge for it? What am I lying about exactly? I recommend everyone to get a written agreement about what will be charged instead of a phone call, since its too easy to say "it was explained to you" read more

Daniel and his crew at Your Local Movers went out of their way to complete our move from Vancouver to Nanaimo. Although the truck required for the move had mechanical problems that were beyond their control, they used a smaller truck so that we wouldn't be left high and dry. After storing our remaining belongings, they completed the move on a second day at no additional expense. Top of the line service for sure! read more

We used this company for our move today. Jordan and Richard were very polite, friendly, professional and efficient when handling all our items. We had no issues with breakage, damage, or scratches. We had way more boxes than we thought we would and it was no problem for them. Unfortunately, would not recommend this moving company in the future. Movers as well as owner of company lacked professionalism in communication, managing difficult situations and at-fault damage. The movers declined to follow strata bylaws and dismissed instructions from both us, and well as the building manager on where they could park their vehicle and the timeline for the elevator usage, and declined to follow building rules or wait for permission to enter the building. They dismissed these rules and interacted unprofessionally with the building managers multiple times, which reflects poorly on the new owner moving into a new building, where I would also be responsible for the strata complaint and fines for rule violation. They were in a hurry to complete the move in, and rushed in the hallways, causing damage to the walls. When we identified the damage, they became quite defensive, did admit to causing some of the damage but then walked away and left abruptly when we were pointing out damage for their records. In leaving in a hurry, they accidentally left with our house keys/building entry fobs. We contacted the mover who indicated that he would check to see if he had our keys and would phone us back in a minute. A few hours later we still had not received a call back. We contacted him again and he confirmed he had them but was too busy to return them for another 24 hours. With further discussion he reluctantly agreed to return them that evening. He did not return them nor did he call to inform us of a change in plans. We ended up contacting the owner in order to have them returned, and even then, the mover almost left the keys outside of the building as he was reportedly in a hurry. The hours of moving time we were billed for were very overestimated given the time they were present for. read more

Prompt, competitive rates, took direction well but also could be left in their own. We had two young guys show up, and they were ready to work! Arrived right on time, called let me know they were one block away and so I told them to park in back. It took a little longer than I had planned but that wasn't their fault - the new address had the worlds tiniest elevator, so the guys were pre-warned there would be stairs involved. They were EASY to book, I just called the toll free number and was put through to Cody who could take my booking immediately. I paid cash on the day, very easy. They were very professional and careful, which was great since I didn't arrange to get the protective elevator pads up in time (not a scratch on the walls from this group!). These guys are fantastic. The two guys who came to help with our move were very quick but also very careful. They were incredibly careful to ease our furniture through the door so that they didn't damage any walls or the furniture itself. The prices were very reasonable and they were very clear about all costs upfront... No hidden surprises. We were actually very happy to find that the move was cheaper than quoted because it didn't take as long as anticipated. This review is a bit delayed - my move happened in August but Cole and Carlos were great! Planning the move was super easy and Coty was on top of things - he replied super fast to my yelp request - within the hour. The price was right, the movers arrived on time, were efficient, careful and friendly. Had their own mats, rope and truck (transported my unboxed tv safely). Our move just finished. Being 9months pregnant for this move these guys saved us!! I have to say that Carlos and Conner were exceptional. They worked so hard and didn't stop to catch a breath. They were on time, careful with our stuff and kind and courteous through the entire move despite awful weather, disassembly and reassembly of furniture and four flights of stairs with challenging corners. I booked YLM as soon as I knew I was moving and checked in periodically throughout the month to make sure everything was on track. Unfortunately, moving day being what it is - unpredictable - I got a call the morning of moving day asking if it would be a problem for YLM to show up about 4 hours later then planned due to a move earlier in the day that would take much longer than expected. Because I had carefully timed out the day it was a problem, I could not afford a 4 hour delay. Coty worked very quickly, contacted another mover who used to work for him, and within 30 minutes had a replacement company arranged for me. The replacement company was fantastic and I was impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of Coty in securing them for me. Although I can't review based on YLM's moving skill, I can vouch for excellent customer service. read more
