I hired these company based on a personal recommendation. One of the movers was great, and of the movers was unusually careless all day and dragged the upholstered side of my couch through some grass and forcefully threw boxes around, breaking some of my belongings. This resulted in, among other things, breaking a full-frame Sony camera body (approximately $1000 replacement cost). The other mover seemed a bit apologetic for the guy, but that doesn't fix my broken camera or any other damage that was done by the careless mover. I had everything fragile wrapped in padding, but a violent enough blow will damage anything, and one of the movers was throwing stuff around pretty violently. I've moved around a lot and have occasionally had things broken on international or cross-country moves where your possessions are handled by a lot of people and tossed onto some truck and you'll find that there's a foot deep puncture in one of the boxes, but I've never had this kind of damage from a local move. I would've been surprised to see this kind of damage from such a short move if I hadn't seen how one of the movers was treating my items. Dragging the cloth side of the couch across the grass was the most egregious looking thing, but in terms of replacement cost, throwing boxes around turned out to be the worse problem. Their advertising copy reads "Our experience with moving unique, costly and fragile furniture mreans that you can trust us with your belongings. Expensive and heavy items will be handled with special care". If that's special care, I'd hate to see what it looks like when they don't take special care. read more

These guys are the best movers you will ever have! We've moved 12 times, done it with just friends and hired every company imaginable. No contest, these guys are the best in town. They came recommended by a friend who had moved recently. OMG, they were organized, polite, and just so chill (which is good because I'm a stress monkey). Stairs? No problem. Slow elevator? They've dealt with worse. Weird furniture? "Now you do have a really tight turn in the stair well, I'm a bit worried if you said this couch needs to go up there". Seriously no surprises, calm compassionate problem solving. And not a scratch anywhere. Even my terribly packed, without packing paper, cheap glass mixing bowls in a mislabeled box survived intact! I booked with Tranquility because of all the positive Yelp reviews, and I'm so glad I did. I phoned them about 1.5 months in advance and reserved my date and time. I liked that they did not charge for 4 hours minimum like the other companies I got quotes from. I also appreciated that they were open to an earlier morning start (9am), and when things changed on my end, they easily accommodated a request to reschedule to 10am instead. I moved from a one-bedroom walk-up to another one-bedroom apartment (requiring elevator usage) seven blocks away and the whole thing took 3 hours. The movers arrived 10 minutes early, plastic-wrapped the top corners of my furniture, and were very careful with every item. My new place has hardwood floors and they placed pieces of cardboard from one of my boxes under my dining table legs to prevent damage to the floors, and also set my couch down on its back, advising me to buy felt stickers. The price of my move totalled $300 (3 x $100/hour), which I paid for in cash (they are cash-only). I was very impressed with how smoothly it all went and how friendly and laid-back the movers were. I have used these guys time and again and I've also recommended them to a number of friends that also use them every time they move. These guys must have played a lot of tetris in their day because they really know how to fill a truck up perfectly. I haven't used them in a few years but I was thinking about them tonight and looked them up. Of course their business is doing well still since they are really good at it. If I could give them six stars I would. Absolutely the best moving experience I have had has been with Tranquility Movers. I moved with them on August 2nd and my partner also used them to move his belongings into our place a week later. On both occasions they were super efficient, friendly, and fun guys. Give them a break and pack your items tightly and try to separate really heavy items (books/records) into smaller boxes. Be nice to your movers! They charge $100/hr + $100 travel fee (for deliveries outside of Vancouver). No other hidden fees. Cash payment is due upon completion of the move! I really can't fault these guys. I got a few quotes from bigger moving companies before a buddy recommended Tranquility Movers as he had been happy with them in the past. They showed up on moving day 5 minutes early. They didn't have a fancy truck with a logo painted on the side and they weren't exactly clean cut, nor did they wear uniforms. However, their demeanour and approach was very professional and accommodating and they quickly gained our trust. They had to move two households into one. They first loaded my girlfriends small amount of stuff in Vancouver before coming for my massive amount of stuff in North Van. We then moved to our new place in North Van. They didn't charge any transport fee to girlfriend's place and started the clock upon arrival. Both loading her stuff and my stuff were much quicker than we had expected. The unloading at our new place was the challenge as it was 30 degrees out and there were two flights of stairs with some awkward corners. Not to mention, moving trucks don't fit into the parkade, so they had to park on the street and walk everything in. If I had been moving myself, the couches NEVER would have made it up those stairs. Eric and Kenny got it done in a very respectable amount of time. We left them alone for a while when we went to clean our old places and were not worried about them slacking off and racking the time up while we were gone. Many other moving companies would have charged a premium for the stairs and the distance they had to walk, these guys did not, although I know they were feeling the hard work and heat. The move took them 6 hours and they charged an hour of driving time, which I was aware of in advance (seemed fair since they finished in North Van and had to get back to Kits in rush hour). Most moving companies had similar (or more) fees and a higher hourly rate. In fact, I didn't get a better quote from any other moving company and I never discussed the stairs or walking distance when getting other quotes ... these guys really came through. A the end of the day, it wasn't an easy move and I never could have done it myself. in fact, Kenny told me to "lose their number" for our next move. Just used these guys for my move and it's the second time I used them. I had the same two guys each time, and for both times they were on time, pleasant, and got the job done with no time wasted. they dont use booties or shoe covers so just make sure to ask them to cover the floors/carpet with runners if you don't want shoes in the house. They happily obliged that request. The only thing i would say is that I moved into a brand new development, and one of the guys was commenting on how my carpets looked really cheap and how the (fresh paint) really stunk. As someone who just bought their first home, it's not enjoyable when someone comments that your new place has something wrong with it. Other than that, I'd still recommend these guys as they have no hidden fees, are upfront with their pricing, and get the job done. read more

These guys take their name very seriously. I'm trying to figure out just how to communicate how awesome these guys are. Steve was unbelievably helpful prior to the move. Then the day of my move, Eric and Kenny were nearly in the 'knights in shining armoir' category. The delivery of the pods everything was to get moved into was completely screwed up and the movers were so patient and helpful, and even helped me deal with the situation that became even more screwed up. There were so flexible, patient, friendly, and really did try to keep me 'tranquil' (though this is the opposite of how the details of the day were going). Somehow, in the end I even ended up sort of ENJOYING the day. How did they do THAT? They worked so hard and diligently, and made the day a successful despite everything else going wrong. Due to unfortunate circumstances, we had to move ALL our belongings to a storage facility and then a couple of weeks later, move into our new home. Both times we used Tranquility and they were worth every penny. Eric and Kenny moved our stuff to storage the first time. They were prompt, efficient and courteous. Recommended to me by a friend. I was originally going to go with a big company but decided to go with Tranquility instead. Awesome movers and know what they are doing - the furniture stacked tightly in the truck. Very friendly people. My furniture arrived all safe and sound (I moved a few times and there was always something broken or misplaced when I was moved by other people). They also helped us removed a massive TV, some unwanted mattresses and sofas for a very very good price (they only charge for time and whatever recycling fee needed.
