Moved across country a year ago. Looked at quite a few different options but they all ended up being either overly complicated or seemed sketchy. Called Ferguson initially mostly because the reviews seemed decent. Our initial inquiry was responded to promptly and an estimator visited our house a few days later to give us a quote. It was the visit from the estimator that clinched it for us. Juville was so professional and thorough. Asked about things we hadn't even thought of. Made some excellent suggestions. My initial reaction to the quoted price was that it was higher than expected, but considering what the sketchy / overly complicated options were coming in at, it wasn't actually that much more. And Juville clearly knew what she was doing, which was extremely reassuring. We really appreciated that she came to our house, prepared a detailed written estimate on the spot, and left us to think about it, without any pressure. We called her back, booked the move and paid our deposit. On moving day we had the worst possible rain (and that's saying something in Vancouver). The movers were organized and professional, and the rain didn't slow them down at all. When the truck was weighed it was very close to what Juville had estimated on our written quote. Our goods arrived safely at the other end. No damage, nothing missing. For the quoted price, no surprises. I would definitely recommend Ferguson and would use them again. read more

We just finished the final push to empty grandma's old apartment on Wednesday. The movers were fantastic. They were so organized. I was delayed getting there by a very long train crossing so even before I got there they had entered and done half the work already. Bagged, wrapped, boxed picture frames and sorted everything for the elevator to the loading dock to go on into storage. Total initiative! They took away the all worn out furniture and all the garbage for disposal. This was the best part as we had no idea how we were going to do that by ourselves. And they loaded my car for me too for the things we were not storing! It was well worth it and the price was reasonable. I absolutely recommend Ferguson's if you are moving. read more

Honesty could be improved. They broke furniture, damaged walls, packed things incorrectly so delicate dishes were broken. The movers that did it took pictures and apologized. But management refused to replace or repair damages, even though they were contracted to do so. They did this covertly by not responding to emails or phone calls until two years later I gave up trying to v to get my money due back. They even told me their manager doesn't carry a cellphone. read more

We had Ferguson Movers move my Mom's condo contents out of her condo after she sold her condo and moved into a long-term care home. The movers were excellent and very professional. They didn't complain that they had four stops to disperse all the furniture and belongings and that it took all day to do that with all the elevators and logistics involved. Called Wednesday and asked for a quote for a move on SUNDAY for my daughter. The guy working the phone sent me a link to get a video of what we were moving, explaining they would get back to me asap. He also sent me an email, which I later discovered had a Monday pick up time. I sent the video on Saturday and got no response or estimate for the move. Called multiple times on Sunday to the same number given to me on the link and on the website (Which stated they were available 24 hours.) Nothing. Went to the Richmond location, which said they were open online, but they were not. I called the number pasted to the door and got the local franchisee who was unaware of any moving booking. Kudos to him, he got a group together and moved us, but I had no time to really consider the cost of either the move or the storage. The move went well after I shelled out $2600 for a 2 bedroom move, but was shocked to find out that my storage for the 1st month was over $900 month and then $ 700 per month after. Stuck, I had no choice but to sign as the landlord had given us 8 days to get out. Daughter had been ill in the hospital and couldn't take care of the place. Called Ferguson to complain. A lot of, I understand, I feel for you, we'll learn from this and do better next time. I would have expected a sorry we'll give you a break on the storage for the 1st month or something like that. My rating is zero stars. Someone replied to my post claiming they offered to do my 6.5 hour move for $500. I have an email quote for $3,500 for my move. So clearly whoever replied to my post is lieing, so you can add that to the list of why you shouldn't hire this company. And BTW, the math is this $3,500 / 6.5, that's pretty much $500 per hour. I recently moved from a condo, into another condo after a sale/purchase. Never uncomplicated. A rep from Ferguson came to see what was being moved (and stored overnight). They are not cheap but the rep was kind, attentive and professional. I chose to have movers the day before I took possession in order to maintain timing. My things would be stored overnight, and it was agreed that they would be delivered to my new home at 2pm the next day.... The day before my move a rep called to request permission for a "small move" in the morning, further saying they would be at my place by 1 pm. This was ok for me. The movers arrived at 4pm. I know sometimes this cannot be helped but was problematic for me. One of the movers had to get to a second job so there was some urgency. I am a senior but did my best to help the move along. Only 2 movers came, worked very hard for 3 hrs, some help arrived for the last 40mins. The next day I was told they'd like to deliver to my new condo, and that they'd be there at approx 1230, when I said that I wouldn't take ownership until approx 2 (which was a great time for them the day prior) they suggested they could start to unload out front of the building. I said no to that as I didn't own anything there yet. They agree and came at 1:30 where they were able to take a break. Very nice young men! But....only 2 movers in a public area was a problem. I had a friend nearby who agreed to come and sit with the truck to avoid any potential thefts. All got moved but things were stored "upside down" in the truck and so I've had some damage. I think a moving company is as good as it's movers and it seems that many companies in general are short staffed. I felt these men were a bit disorganized and there were times inexperience showed. To charge $2000 for a one bedroom condo, albeit I have a lot of stuff, was high. Overall I'm happy now. The staff were clean, polite and pleasant. I gave three stars because of the cost. Perhaps I expected more and that may have been unfair. Just be really clear when booking and pick morning times whenever possible. read more

Just moved from Vancouver to North Vancouver. Ferguson did an amazing job. Arrived on time, the crew worked tirelessly until done 10 hours later. While we packed most of our goods things like pictures and lamps were packed by the movers and handled with care. The wardrobe boxes were a big help too for unpacking into closets. We looked at a cheaper mover before but were not satisfied with the level of service that we got with Ferguson. Highly recommended! read more

We were in the middle of a major renovation in our basement. There was so much STUFF that was in the way of being able to complete the drywalling, flooring etc. Ferguson to the rescue!! They moved all the stuff out, stored it all and moved it back. They were very agreeable to changes in dates. They crew was prompt, friendly and careful with everything. Things went OK is all I can say. For the cost of this move, I was hoping for, and expected fantastic. After numerous emails back and forth with my rep. from Ferguson there seemed to be problems following where and what things were supposed to be moved. It all worked out in the end but only because of my constant checking and re-checking the details and order of the move. Moving is one of the most stressful times in anyone's life so getting the details right is just as important as the quote itself. The wardrobes I asked for were not included so that created problems for my 94 y/old mother who had to spend hours re-organizing her clothes we had to bring in by armfuls from our car... that's awkward and annoying. Overall the movers were OK. They were a half an hour late which wasn't a big deal as I knew we were going to be done earlier than estimated but since we were the only move that day, showing up on time should have been easy. A phone call to tell me they were delayed would have also been appreciated. Unfortunately they moved a piano but forgot the bench that goes with it. Normally they go together but I'm taking some of the blame for not making sure it was included. There I am doing someone's job again... Somewhat disappointed that your boys also forgot to shower that morning and the last thing I can stand is a man entering my home who smells like body odour. I know they're working hard but this is unacceptable to me. Ferguson is being represented every time your crew enters someone's home and personal appearance is just as important as proper hygiene and manners. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I like to see a uniform on anyone providing me with a professional service. Baggy sweatpants just don't cut it and Ferguson needs to invest in proper attire for their staff. We chose and recommended Ferguson based on past positive experiences (2 moves) but this was not consistent with those. Sad that I may have to start looking for an alternate supplier for future moves. read more

I own a small moving company and Ferguson Moving and Storage was kind enough to give me a tour of their Facility in North Vancouver. Wow! When I grow up, I want to be just like Ferguson Moving. It was awesome to see such an amazing operation. Ultra friendly staff, great new trucks, and an efficient building complex make Ferguson a great choice. They have almost 100 years experience and a comprehensive training course so you know your are getting qualified movers. Their storage facility is much more efficient than the standard storage places (mazes). They even offer free packing courses to the public! If you need efficient and trustworthy moving or storage, you should give Ferguson a try. read more

I'm happy with these guys! I hired Ferguson for a trans-Canada move which was carried out by Great Canadian and then by Riverbend. Juville did my quote in person. The price came out to a bit cheaper after the weighing was done. Very impressed by the accuracy. Even if it turned out a bit more I'd be impressed. She was also very communicative and kind. She took the time to explain things to me (I am new to this so I had lots of questions). After much research, I can say you should skip the cheap movers. The cheap movers seem to have common negative qualities in their reviews such as no upfront insurance terms, no in-person quote, bad communication, and more. They also don't show up in the CAM certified lists. In my own experience, Ferguson (and the resulting sub-contractors) provided clear info, good communication, and follow through. From start to finish, Ferguson Moving provided excellent professional service for our house move. The day before, they wrapped our furniture and packed the art. We had two trucks and a crew of 5, one truck took our garage contents, outdoor furniture and even the garden pots. The second bigger truck loaded our household boxes, 9 China barrels, clothes and furniture. It poured rain on moving day and the crews were fast and very careful to make sure nothing got soaked. They may not be the cheapest price movers but are well worth the money for a first class move. Highly recommend them. read more

I worked with Ferguson Moving in the capacity of a consultant. This may sound biased, but I think it's important to know that I am not employed by Ferguson, am completely independent from them. I wouldn't say anything about a company I didn't think was true. I also will say honestly that, though I have not used them as a customer before, in my time working with them, get to see how they strive to operate internally. They have made changes to better themselves and are continuously looking at improvements. I am very impressed, from a business standpoint, that they have put so much effort into their service quality. Did you know they specifically train movers in house to work with them? They don't hire one-day contractors. They also work a lot to strategize and improve their customer service quality and methods. The've had entire internal re-organization to do this. Ferguson has also gone through different ownerships since they started. The company has been around a long time, and they have remained reputable. But yes, companies do change, and Ferguson certainly tries for the better. In moving though, being in business that long means a lot. They also know their clientele and who they can serve the best. Their happy clients will come to them over and over again because they are a great fit. I know in my own business, if I feel I can't help someone, I'd rather not take on the client than say 'yes' to everything and end up doing a bad job. So I think it's strange people would complain about Ferguson not taking them on. That's a good thing. They're being honest. They actually take the time to drive out to your place and see what the job will be like, instead of telling you over the phone. That is effort, and that needs to be noted. There is a reason we have a free marketplace, and that's because one size doesn't always fit all. We have the option to chose different services, and that's fine. Just because one company isn't everything you thought or expected it would be, doesn't make it a bad one. It's just not a fit for you. That doesn't make it a bad company at all. We make choices about our toothpaste, but that doesn't mean all the other toothpastes are bad. 20 minutes late is not a big deal. This is life. It happens. That doesn't mean they would do a bad job with your move. As for the price, you get what you pay for. That's how it is with most quality purchases. Can furniture get ruined during moves? All the time. Can pianos scratch hardwood floors? Yeah, it's possible. Why does that make a company a bad one? I'd rather know my risks in advance than be surprised by them later. Regarding the mishaps of moving, with these few customers that have complained, I would say that a) if there is anything I've learned in Internet marketing, it's that people mostly take the time to leave reviews when they are unhappy. The happy people don't always come here to say positive experiences, but, if there are a few bad ones there are good ones out there too. Otherwise a company could not survive very long, and Ferguson has been around almost 100 years. b) Ferguson LISTENS. You can even see that with some people here, Ferguson made an effort to fix their individual experiences. That says a lot about how much the company cares about doing a good job at its highest management levels. I've worked with different clients and that is huge. Not every business is willing to do that, especially if it means a loss on their part. Talk to a company directly to sort things out, why try to vent on the Internet about one experience with one person at the company that may have more context to it than what we're reading here? c) There are always two sides to a story. Always. I'm sure there is more to complaints than meets the eye and if we knew both sides, it would give us a different perspective on things. Business owners of any kind will know this well. I've worked with clients who have had bad reviews online and most of the time the people complaining were not educated about the industry or their complaints were not reasonable. I think that's the problem with review sites. They're not accurate about the real situation. I don't think Ferguson wouldn't do a good job for you. Granted this review is only for purchasing storage products and a piano moving referral, but I'm very impressed with these guys! They sold me used but in stellar condition storage boxes and even carried them to my car for me :) When I inquired online about a piano moving they referred me out to someone as they only move pianos as part of a whole move. I was very happy with the overall service. I initially had trouble booking elevator at my apartment and my move manager, Quinn, was very accommodative and worked with me to figure out a solution. The movers arrived on time and the process was very efficient. There was no damage to furniture items. The reason why I am not giving 5 stars is because I believe there was a disconnect between the move manager and the actual moving team. They were supposed to carry mattress encasement covers to cover my mattresses during the move. However, the movers were unaware of it. read more

They were friendly and showed up on time. However, after they left we noticed our lamp shade had been completely crushed. They didn't mention anything about it to us and it would have been hard to not notice the damage (it appears as if something fell on it or as if someone stepped on it.) We contacted them with photos the same day and received no reply. A follow up email to them also yielded no reply. UPDATE Jan 2016: Lorne, the President of Ferguson Moving, contacted me shortly after I posted my review - resolution is in progress, and I am very pleased that he cares enough to follow up!! UPDATE April 2016: Lorne went out of his way to resolve the issue with us and I have to say that the follow-up customer service we received outshone the initial mishap. It's nice to know that there are companies out there that stand by their commitment to customer satisfaction. Knowing that Lorne is at the helm, I would happily recommend Ferguson Moving. read more

We had worst experience with Ferguson. They arrived late without informing us, some of our items are missing, they weren't putting items in correct rooms and disassemble our bed so we slept on our mattress on the first night. We have called numerous times to the office without response to bring the remaining items on next day. They charged high premium price for bad service! We wouldn't recommend to use them. read more

I was initially impressed when a representative of Ferguson offered to come to our home and provide a free estimate for the move costs. The rep was pleasant and attentive. She then provided me an estimate for our 3-bedroom townhome move (plus storage locker) of more than $4500. She asked me to agree to it right away. She even asked how I felt about the estimate. It felt like she was sizing me up, and had pulled the number out of a hat. It was awkward and uncomfortable and I will not be giving them our business. I have since received a second estimate from another moving company for $1500. read more

EDIT JUL 27, 2013: Subsequent to my review here, I received a Starbucks card alongside a letter of apology from the company. I appreciate the gesture and the customer-care. However, it does not change my experience described below. I contacted this company for an in-house estimate, based on overrated Internet reviews. I ended-up not doing business with them, but still want to share my short-lived experience. I was directed to the Delta branch and made an appointment. The guy showed-up 45 min late, after I called the company to inquire about his whereabouts. He was allegedly stuck in traffic and didn't have the courtesy to call. We did a walk through of my apartment and he decided right on that he was not interested in the job. I explained moves couldn't be done through the main lobby -strata regulation I cannot change-. He started to complain and rant on and on that things weren't supposed to be that way, that it was dangerous for his movers and too much walking....unreal! To ensure I wouldn't select them, he quoted me an astonishing $ 2 500 to move a 1 bedroom apartment with partial packing @ $340 and $120 worth of packing supplies...He told me it was the lowest price possible.....ridiculous!! Needless to say I was not impressed. The whole appointment was a joke and a total waste of my time. I will never do business with this company. read more

THey dented our furniture, didn't seem to know how to reassemble the beds, forgot the screws for the dresser mirror, and put back the shelves on cabinets so badly that it got stuck , They claimed to be in the business since 1916! The supe asked me to sign a waiver that the piano would scratch the hardwood floor - what? movers who don't know how to move a piano ? NEVER AGAIN. Update: The president of Ferguson contacted me about my review on this site, asked for details and arranged to repair the furniture, sent %refund cheque, and vowed that the supervisor will be re-trained. We love Ferguson's. We really did. We trusted them with our international move from Vancouver to San Francisco. So understand that it pains me to write this review. However, our belongings were almost 2 months late arriving in California. That's 2 months of living out of our suitcases. 2 months during which we had to buy basic home essentials because those we owned where 'somewhere' between us and Vancouver. It was a comedy of errors. The international shipper didn't pick up our cargo. They couldn't return for several weeks. When they did return, it took over a week to move down the coast. Once our goods arrived here, it took another week to get our stuff from the shipping depot to our home. The worst part was that Ferguson's never took ownership of the issues. It was never their fault. We had to push and push and push just to get updates. The stress was unbelievable and we were made to feel as though we were unreasonable. In the end, nothing was done to make this better. Sorry, Ferguson's -- you've lost a fan. read more

We contacted Ferguson to help bail me out of an ill-concieved decision to move myself. I got everything moved into my new garage and came to the conclusion that we needed pros to get my furniture up the tight & treacherous staircase. They sent over an estimator the next day, who informed us that they had to bill for a minimum of 4 hours, and that the work we needed would likely fall below that. Unfortunate, but understandable from a business perspective... We went with them... The movers arrived on time, and were consummate professionals. They came prepared with all the right tools for the job and were extremely courteous to boot. Perhaps most importantly, performed some truly amazing feats of strength and ingenuity to get the furniture where it needed to go, and in one piece. My only regret is that I didn't hire them to do the whole move for me. read more

I had 4 in home moving estimates. 2 of them never even bothered to send me a quote. Ian came in and assesed my move and gave me a lot of confidence that everything would be taken care of. My move was very complex including a few weeks of storage. I received a flat quote vs an estimate and in the end, I was charged exactly what was quoted. Ferguson staff are professionals and very accommodating to all our needs. We had a problem with the piano since we had several flight of stairs to deal with. I hired Ferguson because they were supposed to be the best. They charged over $5000 two pack and move a two bedroom apartment. In the course of the move they scratched a $12,000 painting, lost the stopper off an antique crystal decanter, broke my marble dining table, broke the glass on two framed prints, broke a bowl they had packed and broke a glass vase. I have moved many times and have never had this type of damage and loss. Avoid them at any cost. read more
