The two hired movers arrived at 8:35AM (5 mins late but not a big deal to me) and my studio apartment move into a one bedroom was completed in a timely fashion. The two movers were professional and I would hire them again and recommend Home Run Movers to friends and family. A nice little bonus was that they collaborate with BungoBox so I got 10% off my BungoBox rentals. We used them twice, seven years ago and this year. The first time was ok, with only one mirrored door being broken, which we let go as too much hassle to deal with it. The second time was a nightmare, with them showing up with a 3.5 ton truck instead of a 5 ton truck, as was clearly communicated beforehand. Since we had to make a ferry reservation, it made everything morse stressful than necessary, with us having to deal with literally last minute solutions for left over stuff, turning over the old place to our landlady, loading remaining items in our own car, and helping the movers on top of it as some furniture had to be dissembled to fit in the truck. Although Ty brought anything they could not bring the first time, a couple of days later, there were too many damaged items due to the puzzle of trying to get everything into the small truck. Most damages were just labelled as 'can be easily replaced by going to the dollar store, or having a table top refinished locally, etc.' But Ty never followed up on it, instead mentioned that we had not bought the proper insurance (which was never offered in the first place). He gave us $500 off, but that does not make good for all the trouble we had. and all the damages, with some of them discovered after the move. The damages were: a broken high quality fan, a completely scratched dining table top, damaged artwork, two damaged standing lamps, one damaged storage unit, a broken antique pendant light, and almost all furniture with some new scratches, dents, and other minor damages, including damages from the tape that was not properly used. Having said this, the movers were friendly, and Ty is a nice person; but this was not handled as expected and with the care needed, also with never following up on him promising us the needed repairs. Even if only some small plastic parts (e.g., a wheel part, a fastening ring) are broken, it does not mean they can be easily replaced at the dollar store. If we had to repair and replace everything, it would easily exceed the $500 offered. I have moved over 20 times in my whole life, but this was by far the worst experience ever. Ty and his team were amazing! They made an incredibly stressful day much better. Communication was good. We did an initial video estimate and then the week of the move Ty came personally to see where things were at to ensure he had what was needed to be ready for moving day. They showed up on time. Their system was well executed, and they had us loaded very quickly. Igor, Manny, Daniel and Christian were very friendly, and professional, and took extra care with our fragile items. Ty was there for the loading as well, to ensure we had everything we needed. At the new place the unload went just as seamlessly and when the truck was empty they even took the time to ask if there was anything we wanted help putting together, and if we wanted them to move anything into a particular spot while they were still there. We did ask them to move a couple of the heavier items which they did happily. Payment was easy; the estimate was exact to the invoice. E-transfer payment was quick and simple. They are definitely competitive price wise, if not a bit better value than some of the larger companies and way better service. Home Run Movers are dishonest, unprofessional, and I cannot recommend enough staying away from this company. This has been the worst moving experience of my life. Not only was a number of pieces of my furniture damaged during the move, but my couch has been taken from me and held by this company for over 31 days now. My couch is being held hostage as the company refuses to communicate with me, or answer my inquiries on where I can come get the couch. Even my requests for a photo of the damage have been ignored this entire time. Instead of taking responsibility, they have decided to hold my couch hostage going on 31 days now and promised repairs that never happened. They even lied about contacting a repair company. When I followed up myself, the repair company confirmed Home Run Movers never reached out despite their false claims of trying to after having my couch stored for over a week. After even repeated requests of just photos of the damage I have still received nothing. As a matter of fact the only answer I really got was the owner Ty threatening me with some "harsh words" just for asking about my couch. As you can see in the photo. Instead of just sending me photos of the damage or actually contacting the repair company, he instead became aggressive and dismissive, proving how little he cares about his customers. Not only was my stuff damaged but they were 2 hours late for both the pick-up and drop-off. This caused major issues, including problems with my building's elevator since I had reserved it within a specific timeframe At this point they still refuse to let me pick up my own couch. Instead of just returning my property, they have held it hostage for weeks, forcing me to escalate this issue to Consumer Protection BC and take legal action. They are dishonest, unreliable, and completely unprofessional. If you care about your belongings and your peace of mind, do not trust them with your move. After receiving their quote, I emailed for clarification on several points, which turned out to be errors made on the companies part. Apparently, they had done a cut and paste from another quote and some of the information got mixed up. In any event, I received an email with answers to my questions, but in the email string (between my email questions and their response) was a line typed by my contact at Home Run Movers that said "someone answer this stupid old man's questions". I was appalled by the lack of professionalism and insulted by the remark. When I mentioned this to my contact, he simply said he would look into it. Didn't apologize or take ownership. STOLE MY FURNITURE - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY My experience with Home Run Movers has been nothing short of a nightmare. My husband and I trusted this company to move our furniture, and what they did was not only unprofessional but criminal. They stole my couch and have been illegally withholding it for over one month. After they claimed my couch was damaged during the move, they took it back on the truck for repairs. When we tried to follow up on the repair, asking for pictures or even just a simple update, we learned that no one from Home Run Movers, neither Ty Roblin nor Jessica Roberts ever contacted the upholstery company we all agreed they would use. When we confronted Ty about his lies, he then threatened us with "harsh words" before going completely silent. Ty has also sent us emails such as one titled "Cute" just showing his unprofessionalism and malicious intentions. We have made several attempts to come and pick our couch up but each time we are met with resistance. On top of this, the move was a nightmare. They showed up 2 hours late not only when picking the furniture up, but also 2 hours late when dropping it off, causing unnecessary delays and stress. Extra insurance was not offered to us. Our art alone costs over 50k so there's no world in which we wouldn't have added extra coverage. 6. Yes, when customers are unhappy with the services they receive they take it to the web. Reviews do not only apply to positive experiences or they would be pointless. 7. As for the harsh words text, this is a complete reach and you know what you were doing. Nobody is buying the fact this was an attempt to keep out talk civil as it was always civil on our end. After doing many moves ourselves, which normally involves renting a U-Haul, asking friends and family for help in exchange for beer and pizza, and generally a lot of stress, I decided to book movers when we moved into our house. My sister-in-law recently used Home Run Movers, so I decided to book our move with them as well. Ty is really friendly, and it was really easy to book the move. I was completely up front with Ty, we have A LOT of stuff. I gave him a list of the amount of stuff we had to move, including a full patio set + 8 chairs, a BBQ, two queen beds + boxsprings, and a large tool bench. Ty was really accommodating, and assured me that it would be no problem to move all of our stuff. We booked the move for 9:30 AM on a Saturday morning. We also purchased two mattress bags from them. Three movers arrived at 9:15 AM on Saturday morning with two 2.5 ton trucks. The three guys, Quinn, Rob, and Jay, were absolutely fantastic. Ty assured me that his movers hustle, and they definitely do! They emptied our apartment really fast, and managed to tetris all of our stuff into both trucks with ease. The only items that didn't fit in the truck was our two flat screen TV's since the movers didn't want them to get damaged. The movers packed the TV's securely in the car, and unpacked them for us as soon as we got to our new home. Unloading went just as smoothly in our new place, except our three seat couch and queen boxsprings wouldn't fit up our first staircase. The guys quickly set up a pulley system and were efficiently able to get everything into our place using our second floor balcony, with no damage! The entire move took 5.5 hours and cost less than $1000. I paid by credit card using Square, which does add 3.5% to the bill, which Ty is completely up front about. You can save this 3.5% cost by paying using a money transfer. Overall, I was very happy with Home Run Movers, and I will happily recommend them to my friends and family. read more

We were moving from a far away land called Port Hardy back to Lower Mainland. (If you are a Game of Thrones fan, it's like from The Wall to King's Landing.) When we first moved from Lower Mainland the move was fully paid for by the employer so we had top of the line full-service movers. But this time moving back to Lower Mainland, it was all on us. My hubby got quotes from the big long distance movers and our jaws fell. We decided to U-haul it ourselves (reserved the truck but I was totally worried we would break our back, our foot, our furniture or the walls), but about 10 days before the actual move I decided to do some Yelping to see if I had any luck finding someone affordable. This is when my prayers were answered! Ty was able to work up a detailed quote fairly quickly after I called him and we knew this was the way to go. It was double the cost of U-hauling ourselves, but if I were to hire loaders and unloaders by the hour it would not have saved me that much more. Plus, we could use a professional's experience in loading and unloading a truck for such a long distance. This proved to be sooo useful on moving day!! Ty worked up an itinerary and the schedule worked out well despite they went over by a couple of hours on the loading and unloading -- which is not their fault. I had no clue we had that much to bring back because we had so much space in Port Hardy. They spent the time to play tetris with all our stuff and we were amazed they could pack so much. The next day we got back to our condo in Lower Mainland and because of space constraints, I was directing traffic to put some stuff directly into our storage locker downstairs. That activity along with the annoying number of doors, turns, fob-ing really added to the time. But during the entire loading and unloading process Ty and Jay were upbeat, careful and respectful. Our dining table was damaged due to some shifting that happened during the long haul, but he offered to either reduce the moving bill or bring us a replacement. We took the reduction because we were really short on space. If you're looking for an affordable and safe moving solution, I suggest you do your own packing and padding, but go with these guys for the actual load/move/unload. All of my fragile stuff that I have unpacked so far are intact and undamaged. Great guys all around..worth every dollar we paid them and more. Ty told me he's getting ready to grow his business and I really wish him well. Apart from having displayed a lack of genuine effort, he also didn't offer to take his shoes off which resulted in my having to spend hours on end cleaning. You would think that someone with the audacity to pull something off like this would have the decency to be at least respectful to his (visibly underpaid) workers, however, to my complete astonishment, he was a jerk! It was very awkward for me a lot of the time, as I had to stand there while he was aggressively barking orders while the poor guys were working very hard (from my observation at least). But I guess these high standards for his employees are the foundation of his astonishingly impressive yelp resume- either that or the majority of these reviews are from his immediate family members who are genuinely concerned for his fiscal well-being. I chose these movers based on the yelp reviews and the fact that they actually answered the phone when I was calling on the 1st of the month. The move itself went really well. They packed the truck flawlessly and didnt damage anything. The movers had a great work ethic. My reason for only 4 stars was that on the phone I was promised 3 movers and 1 truck, but what showed up was 2 movers and 1 truck. This meant that the move took 4 hours instead of 3, and we had a dedicated move-in time in the new place. We ran into the next people's move-in slot by 45 minutes but they didn't seem to mind so it all worked out okay in the end. read more

Arrived on time. Jay and his buddy worked hard and tried their best to fit our 2 bedroom 2 bathroom into their truck. They spent a lot of time trying to fit everything, playing Tetris with our stuff, but in the end they had to make two trips as they could not fit everything in their 1 ton. If you are moving over 1 bedroom maybe ask for 3 people and a 3 ton truck. It just took a long time for the job to be done because of the above and because they charge hourly it might have cost us the same with a bigger truck and more movers. On the plus side both the movers were respectful and did not damage anything. Note: they did not cover the mattresses in bags or shrink wrap furniture. They did cover furniture tops with a blanket once it was in the truck before stacking items on top of each other. If you are concerned about bed bugs/rain maybe buy your own mattress bags. For the hourly price ($75), the service was good (no damage to anything), of course they are not big corporate movers so the lack of mattress bags and shrink wrap is understandable. read more

Although not cheapest per hour (but very competitive), the mover was extremely efficient yet careful with my items, resulting in the work being completed extremely fast. I honestly believe the cost would've been much greater if I hired a cheaper person, due to their slow work trying to run the clock, as well as clumsiness that may damage my furniture. Premium for the third person, but they finished up earlier so the end cost was less than the quote! When my father had to move from a house to an apartment back in July 2014, I was researching all over to try to find a moving company. I live out of town so trying to find a mover remotely is no easy task. We've all had our fair share of horrible experience with movers in our life. My cousin referred me to this company, stating her co-worker used them before and I might want to give them a try. With not much time, leap of faith, I gave Ty a call and booked the move. They arrived on time with a truck and 2 guys (Ty and his helper Jay). They finished the move in 2.5 hours I think. Did not damage anything and was very efficient. Even my dad said he was amazed. And my dad was NEVER amazed by anything cos' he has high expectation. Because of this positive experience, I booked them again for junk removal in September last year. That was somewhat a last minute thing (while I did check with them back in July to see if they do junk removal and Ty said they do). I was just in town for a house repair and then thought I should take advantage of the time I was there to get rid of all the junk left behind after the move. It was a house with 7 bedrooms, hundreds of cabinets (seemed that way), 20+ years of "stuff" my folks accumulated, and essentially a mini Home Depot in the making at that house...I tried to warn Ty about the amount of junk, but didn't really do a good job as I should have probably taken pictures. Anyway, 3 days and 3 trips to City of Vancouver junk yard, 3 tons (no joke) of junk removal later, it's all done. They swept the place - it has never looked so good since the day my folks moved in. As much as I was impressed with their move job, the junk removal was really what set them apart. I think if I had hired other regular junk removal companies, they would have quit after the first hour. I didn't have a lot of time to sort things out the way the City likes it, but Ty and his helper took their time to sort stuff out, break them down, fit them into their truck. Ty was extremely professoinal, efficient, and pleasant to work with. Their rate is very competitive and they don't waste a minute of your time (or if they did, I wasn't watching...LOL). I gave them a pretty good tip cos' I felt this junk removal job was a biotch, really. They did it with such great attitude and effort. I will recommend them to anyone who wants to hire a mover or junk remover. Although..honestly, after my junk removal job, I don't know if Ty decided to retire from that field...:) And yes Yelp, I submitted this review last year but thanks to your super auto software, since it was my first review you hid it.
