I ride an older Cannondale Six-13 and thanks to a bent hanger I managed to crash my rear derailleur into the back wheel. Jim's provided a very nice, used Campagnolo Record rear derailleur, new chain and cable, and trued the rear wheel. Bike now looks great, the total repair cost was very reasonable and just took a few days. Excellent service... until! First test ride the new derailleur fell apart leaving me stranded again. I managed to collect all the parts and returned to Jim's. Three days later bike was "fixed". Turns out the front derailleur is no longer working - with some effort I fixed that myself. And the chain is too long. I'm planning on fixing that myself too - I'm not going back to Jim's. read more

This shop kept my 2024 electric scooter for a week only to return it with the same brakes ‍ Theyre claiming that they don't have or know where to find brakes for that model. A Great Place I first visited this shop to have a new bottom bracket installed and they accommodated my need to have it done while I waited. The price was right and so was the work. While I waited for the repair to be finished, I wandered around and found a bike for sale that I've yearned to own for years. The price was right and Jim agreed to let me put it on layaway. When I picked up the bike, one of the mechanics performed a fairly thorough "fitting" before I left. The Best Kept bike-shop secret in Cincinnati ! You can find great deals on high quality bikes at this store. Bought a bike and referred to a friend who bought a mountain bike at a great price. (Cannondale 29er hard tail) This store gets less traffic than the other more known stores (montgomery cyclery, resers, etc) and consequently the prices are less. Don't negotiate, the prices are already better than other stores, do your homework, you'll see. Also, you will probably meet Jim - the owner, because the guy puts his heart into his store and his clients. read more

I took my bike for a tune up and paid $148.62. I had no problems with my bike prior to taking to Jim's. I just felt it was time for a tune-up. I picked my bike up on Friday and went on a 50-mile bike event on Saturday. First, the shift levers' screw came loose after a couple of miles and I had to tighten the screw. Next, 16.1 miles into the bike ride, the rear tire was rubbing on the frame and the SAG people could not repair so we had to stop our ride. Very disappointing. I immediately took my bike back to Jim's and they had to put a washer where the tire connects to the bike (I don't know the names of the technical bike parts). My guess is they forgot to replace the washer when they did the tune-up. I do not recommend Jim's based on my experience. If you do go, expect to have to take your bike back to fix new issues that they created. read more

I bought a Trek Madone with a few years on it from a guy on the internet. Had a few little ticks that I noticed immediately. Brought it into Jim's to have them see if they could get those little creeks out. Jim's wrench (whose name escapes me at the moment) is PASSIONATE about working on bikes. He went on at great length about everything he tweaked, lubricated, adjusted or replaced. It is great to have your bike serviced by an unabashed bike geek. Price was fair. Bike runs like a top. There is no shop in our area (Cincinnati) that I trust more. Jim measured, ordered and built a custom Waterforf for me. It fit me perfectly. When I switched to recumbents he ordered a Easy Racer Ti-rush for me. Last he ordered and built up a lightning P38 to my specs. He and his family are truly great people. In addition, I purchased the best bicycle I ever owned from Jim many years ago. When my wife and I decided to get back into riding bicycles this year, we went to Jim's Bicycle Shop. Both Jim and his wife helped us to make our selections. As always, they were friendly, informative and professional. We purchased the bicycles and Jim prepped them on the spot so that we could go home and get started riding immediately. All in all, it was a very pleasant shopping experience. Unfortunately, I had a recurring problem with my bicycle. It was difficult to keep the drivetrain in tune for more than about fifty miles at a time. Jim practically bent over backward to rectify it. He ultimately presented me with several options and, in the process, exceeded my expectations. During the entire time, Jim remained patient and understanding. I am just getting into cycling. A friend got her bike from Jim, so I though I would start there. Jim was knowlage, and spent a long time with me, but was not pushy. He measured me and fit a bike to my needs. Being the shopper that I am I did not want to commit yet. Jim told me to shop around and see what is out there. so I did. I was very disapointed in the lack of interest other shops showed in measuring me or finding out what my needs were. Needess to say I whet back to Jim. He and his staff have helped at rest stops at the MS 150 Bike Ride for years, it's truly a small business that I will pay more to support him than worry about a couple of bucks saved via the internet.
