Found this salon and rave reviews about Christina off Yelp so decided to make an appointment a week ago for Valentine's Day, for a trim, because it's been a year since my last haircut. It rained hard today before my appointment and I came in anyway because I'd already made the appointment. Christina is such a sweetheart. I told her I was going to Starbucks afterwards to get work done out of the rain and she refused to accept tip and said to use it for coffee. She pointed out my previous stylist had cut my hair unevenly, with the right side of my hair slightly longer than my left. She knows her stuff. Just texted Jimmy to let him know how great she is. Looks like Christina just got a new loyal customer. read more

I'm not sure what happened this time around, but during my second visit the salon was extremely busy. The phone kept ringing, and staff were constantly stepping away, which made the environment feel very hectic, especially surprising for a Tuesday, not even a weekend. Christina and I had a slight misunderstanding about what I wanted, but the main issue was how rushed my haircut felt. The cut is uneven throughout, and one side was left noticeably longer than the other. I'm extremely disappointed with the result. I understand the importance of running a busy business, but quality and consistency are just as important in earning and keeping returning customers. Sadly I won't be coming back. read more

Per Yelp I noticed high remarks for this salon, specifically for Kim and Christina. Went in on Monday to request to speak to either and was greeted by Ms. Kim. I quickly went over what I was looking for and booked an appointment for the following day. I walked in appointment day to a ready and waiting Kim. My haircut lasted an hour and the whole time I noticed she made sure to double check and make sure my hair was even and just really took her time. Once the cut was done she blew out my hair perfectly and added some finishing texturizing cuts. Definitely the friendly and detailed service I was looking for at a reasonable price. I highly recommend Kim! read more

Christina did great job on choosing my color with the help of Kim applying the color and washing it so relaxing I was about to fall asleep. I love my haircut, color and blow dry. I'm kinda new to Gilroy so relying on recommendations from others and I could not be happier with Jimmy's Salon! Highly recommend and looking forward to my next visit, call them for booking. Nice people. Good skill! Price is cheap and affordable. Jimmy and his mom are very skilled.

The new ladies that work here do not know how to cut hair. I suggest you go to Christine or Andy. I miss Kim she would do an amazing job.

All I can say guys is ask for Kim. If you like your cuts high and tight with a lot of detail, she's the best. I stumbled on her about a year ago and have referred her to many friends. All of them love her level of Detail (ears, eyebrows, etc). She's awesome!! read more

I found this salon probably about 6 months ago and was absolutely satisfied. All 3ppl that work there are so nice and amazingly friendly to my kids. Christina is a hair magician. When I moved to Gilroy two years ago at the start of the pandemic, I visited a different salon in Gilroy where my was over-processed: FRIED! I have been thrilled beyond words to have found Christina who has been trimming my hair expertly and consistently to help my hair grow out and return to its normal, healthy condition. I figure in two-and-a-half more years I'll be ready to have Christina add subtle, natural-looking highlights. Every time Christina trims my hair, I leave feeling beautiful:) read more

I was looking for a new salon to get my yearly hair cut. I normally go to San Jose for my haircut but this year i decided to find something close to home. After hours of searching for a place that had good reviews i found Jimmy's Salon. All i kept reading was how Cristina did amazing and what not. I showed up and asked for her. Wait time wasn't to crazy. Anyway i wasn't too sure how short i wanted my hair but i had an idea. Cristina layered, and thinned my hair out. Boy it feels amazing and super healthy!!!!! I'll be returning next year. read more

Andy, Kim, Christina ....can't go wrong with any of them for an affordable, good looking hair cut for my boys. Highly recommend.

My children and husband have been coming here to get haircuts and they always turn out great. It was my first time getting a service done here for myself, as well as my first time ever getting Japanese hair straightening. I was a little hesistant at first since I hadn't heard of that straightening method before. However, Christina did such amazing job and I absolutely love my hair. It used to be very damaged due to constant heat, but now it looks much healthier and straighter than any flat iron could do. Would definitely recommend this salon for any hair services. read more

So, so happy with my hair. Christina did a wonderful job of changing my hair from a crappy greenish home dye job to a bright green. I love it. She also fixed a botched hair cut i got the night before. Boo at the place I got my hair cut. My hubby had his hair dyed also. Jimmy and Christina tag teamed in between clients. We were walk ins and they took us right away. It's a cute little shop in a small shopping center. We just happened to be in Gilroy and I found Jimmys on Yelp. With all the great reviews why would I go anywhere else. They had a lot of customers coming in while we were there. They are quick and efficient. I see why they were so busy. When my hair grows back out I will be going to see Christina to get the haircut I originally wanted. read more

I called, showed up, they took me in and I was out in 15 minutes with a great haircut. Best price too.

Nothing fancy but great cuts at a crazy low price. Reservations not required if you're willing to wait a few minutes. If you're on the wild side, reserve a longer visit with Jimmy and get cool colors over or under - he's awesome! Christine is the sweetest and my husband's favorite hair stylist. read more

I usually don't leave bad reviews but what I asked for is to keep my hair as long as possible but cute off the dead ends, I wanted layers and bangs. I have curly hair and if it gets cut short I have a crazy Afro. My hair now doesn't reach the middle of my back. And I still don't have bangs. I couldn't really see what was going on without my glasses so I didn't have a good look till I got home. read more

This is a great salon with super nice people working here :) I always trust them to cut and dye my hair every single time. I live in San Jose and drive 25+min to come to get a haircut because the hair dye they use here are safe with good quality, and Christina really takes the time to make sure you are happy with your hair. They really deserve great tips since their service always excellent. I would give them 10 stars if I could. read more

I'm so exited about my new hair that I felt impressed to write a review! I've been thinking of a hair change for awhile but haven't had time for myself lately. Out of the blue last Friday I started to look for a hair salon in Gilroy. We are new to town and I had no idea where to go to. After reading these most valuable reviews here on Yelp, I stumbled upon Jimmy's Salon. I looked at the reviews & photos and BAM! Found a hair dresser! Jimmy, Christine and Ellen took care of me! I was there for 3 hours, they made me feel and look like a princess! Christine made me tea, Jimmy and Ellen foiled my hair and I was filled with butterflies in my stomach of anticipation! (Mind you, my hair was natural for 5 years). Once my highlights were done, Ellen washed my hair and gave me a good head massage, then Christine layered my hair and...Oh my! Oh my! My hair looks gorgeous! I highly recommend Jimmy's Salon! Christine, Jimmy and Ellen sure know what they are doing! Precision and talent here! Thanks guys! You made me feel so special! read more

Went to this place for the first time today on a whim after being burned from a few local salons. I was nervous for sure but it turned out great! Though the shops location isn't the best and the interior design/decor leaves much to be desired the customer service and skill is not easy to come by. I've gone to curl up and dye (which also has a dodgy look and location) and had horrible experiences with a cut, color and customer service. I've also seen 3 different stylists at image and design (which has a great location that is accommodating and easy on the eyes) and had mixed experiences (depending on stylists) but paid more than I expected. This place was able to accommodate my appointment 20 minutes from the time I called, gave my a quote over the phone and was able to make everything I wanted a reality based off of 2 photos from my cellphone and my budget. There wasn't unnecessary chatter, uncomfortably loud music or gossip between the people working like I've come across in a lot of other salons. As someone who often gets anxiety in these types of environments I need to say that I actually really enjoyed the simplicity and ease of my experience as it felt natural and not phony and forced. Christina did an undershave design and did a great cut after my shampoo. She asked me questions about my preferences and styled and straightened my hair to reflect that. She took her time, had attention to detail and included me in the process. Overall a great experience and fair price! I'd recommend this place to anyone who goes to the salon for the purpose of coming out with great hair as opposed to the social experience. The only thing I would have changed would be to pretty-up the interior! read more

I own this review to Christina and it's been overdue!!! Christina is amazing! I'm so thankful that my co-worker introduced Christina to me because my old hair dresser has permanently moved to Puerto Rico. Christina is totally gifted with her talent and artistic eyes which make her ONE OF A KIND! Unlike other hair dressers who do whatever you want regardless the style or color fits you or not, Christina always gives me honest opinions which hair style or color/highlight looks good on me which I appreciate very much. I've been trying so many hair salons in the bay and it's not easy to find a trusted hair dresser or colorist like Christina. I normally go to Pinterest or Instagram to find a highlight that I like, I give it to Christina and ask for her opinion, if it's a yes, she will give me the exact look!! Only experienced colorist can do this. The way she cut makes it easy to style as well. I drive an hour each way to see Christina and it's totally worth every minutes. I've been getting so many compliments since I found Christina. Christina, I'm so thankful for you!!! If you like to have a good hair cut or fabulous looking highlight, give Christina a call. You'll be thankful. read more

I thought I try out this place based on the reviews here...so I decided to venture in this morning, just a tad pass 10 am. Stepped in, there were two ladies cutting hair. I'm standing right at the counter and none of them bothered to even acknowledge. To give either one of them the benefit of a doubt, I wait another minute, and still...they are just going about their business. It only takes a few seconds to at least say something, anything...instead of pretending that you didn't notice I walked in. I just left. Sad part is, they probably could care less. read more

I just had my hair done by Jimmy. I wanted to have medium length hair and I was really nervous since I have always had long hair. Jimmy was super kind and took me in 30 minutes before my appointment time. I showed him the picture of what i wanted and he was able to tell me how it looked in the picture. He gave suggestions and was really calm about the whole thing. He made me feel very comfortable being in there even though it was my first time and talked to me during my haircut. The shop was clean and everyone in there was very kind and helpful. I ended up getting about 7 inches off my hair and he made absolutely sure i wanted it that length before he started cutting which I liked since most other places just start cutting away immediately. I am definitely coming back and this is my new shop even though I live up above San Jose but Jimmy makes it worth the drive read more

I have to change my review regarding Jimmys. I don't want to recommend them anymore. I dropped in for a haircut. Jimmy was nowhere in sight. I had an unfamiliar stylist . She did, honestly, a good haircut but I didn't like the styling at all. But the most problematic issue was a lack of cleanliness in the salon. Cut hair was visible all over the table of the stylist. The combs looked as if they had been used on previous clients - the stylist grabbed them from a towel nearby. She put an apron on me but neglected to put the strip around the neck that keeps it hygienic. Finally, her nails were long and she scraped my neck and scalp as she worked. Won't be returning. read more
