The phone kept ringing, and staff were constantly stepping away, which made the environment feel very hectic, especially surprising for a Tuesday, not even a weekend. Christina and I had a slight misunderstanding about what I wanted, but the main issue was how rushed my haircut felt. The cut is uneven throughout, and one side was left noticeably longer than the other. I'm extremely disappointed with the result. I understand the importance of running a busy business, but quality and consistency are just as important in earning and keeping returning customers. Sadly I won't be coming back. read more

Per Yelp I noticed high remarks for this salon, specifically for Kim and Christina. Went in on Monday to request to speak to either and was greeted by Ms. Kim. I quickly went over what I was looking for and booked an appointment for the following day. I walked in appointment day to a ready and waiting Kim. My haircut lasted an hour and the whole time I noticed she made sure to double check and make sure my hair was even and just really took her time. Once the cut was done she blew out my hair perfectly and added some finishing texturizing cuts. Definitely the friendly and detailed service I was looking for at a reasonable price. Found this salon and rave reviews about Christina off Yelp so decided to make an appointment a week ago for Valentine's Day, for a trim, because it's been a year since my last haircut. It rained hard today before my appointment and I came in anyway because I'd already made the appointment. Christina is such a sweetheart. I told her I was going to Starbucks afterwards to get work done out of the rain and she refused to accept tip and said to use it for coffee. She pointed out my previous stylist had cut my hair unevenly, with the right side of my hair slightly longer than my left. She knows her stuff. Just texted Jimmy to let him know how great she is. My children and husband have been coming here to get haircuts and they always turn out great. It was my first time getting a service done here for myself, as well as my first time ever getting Japanese hair straightening. I was a little hesistant at first since I hadn't heard of that straightening method before. However, Christina did such amazing job and I absolutely love my hair. So, so happy with my hair. Christina did a wonderful job of changing my hair from a crappy greenish home dye job to a bright green. I love it. She also fixed a botched hair cut i got the night before. Boo at the place I got my hair cut. My hubby had his hair dyed also. Jimmy and Christina tag teamed in between clients. We were walk ins and they took us right away. It's a cute little shop in a small shopping center. We just happened to be in Gilroy and I found Jimmys on Yelp. With all the great reviews why would I go anywhere else. They had a lot of customers coming in while we were there. They are quick and efficient. I see why they were so busy. I usually don't leave bad reviews but what I asked for is to keep my hair as long as possible but cute off the dead ends, I wanted layers and bangs. I have curly hair and if it gets cut short I have a crazy Afro. My hair now doesn't reach the middle of my back. And I still don't have bangs. I was there for 3 hours, they made me feel and look like a princess! Christine made me tea, Jimmy and Ellen foiled my hair and I was filled with butterflies in my stomach of anticipation! (Mind you, my hair was natural for 5 years). Once my highlights were done, Ellen washed my hair and gave me a good head massage, then Christine layered my hair and...Oh my! Oh my! Went to this place for the first time today on a whim after being burned from a few local salons. I was nervous for sure but it turned out great! Though the shops location isn't the best and the interior design/decor leaves much to be desired the customer service and skill is not easy to come by. I've gone to curl up and dye (which also has a dodgy look and location) and had horrible experiences with a cut, color and customer service. I've also seen 3 different stylists at image and design (which has a great location that is accommodating and easy on the eyes) and had mixed experiences (depending on stylists) but paid more than I expected. This place was able to accommodate my appointment 20 minutes from the time I called, gave my a quote over the phone and was able to make everything I wanted a reality based off of 2 photos from my cellphone and my budget. There wasn't unnecessary chatter, uncomfortably loud music or gossip between the people working like I've come across in a lot of other salons. As someone who often gets anxiety in these types of environments I need to say that I actually really enjoyed the simplicity and ease of my experience as it felt natural and not phony and forced. Christina did an undershave design and did a great cut after my shampoo. She asked me questions about my preferences and styled and straightened my hair to reflect that. She took her time, had attention to detail and included me in the process. Overall a great experience and fair price! I'd recommend this place to anyone who goes to the salon for the purpose of coming out with great hair as opposed to the social experience. I just had my hair done by Jimmy. I wanted to have medium length hair and I was really nervous since I have always had long hair. Jimmy was super kind and took me in 30 minutes before my appointment time. I showed him the picture of what i wanted and he was able to tell me how it looked in the picture. He gave suggestions and was really calm about the whole thing. He made me feel very comfortable being in there even though it was my first time and talked to me during my haircut. The shop was clean and everyone in there was very kind and helpful. I ended up getting about 7 inches off my hair and he made absolutely sure i wanted it that length before he started cutting which I liked since most other places just start cutting away immediately. I have to change my review regarding Jimmys. I don't want to recommend them anymore. I dropped in for a haircut. Jimmy was nowhere in sight. I had an unfamiliar stylist . She did, honestly, a good haircut but I didn't like the styling at all. But the most problematic issue was a lack of cleanliness in the salon. Cut hair was visible all over the table of the stylist. The combs looked as if they had been used on previous clients - the stylist grabbed them from a towel nearby. She put an apron on me but neglected to put the strip around the neck that keeps it hygienic. Finally, her nails were long and she scraped my neck and scalp as she worked.
