A poorly thought out motto.... 2 hours isn't fast.
Victoria H.

Freaky FAIL!!! I waited TWO HOURS for my sandwiches.... wilted lettuce and soggy bread. I love JJ but this is unacceptable. So much for "freaky fast makes if freaky fresh". :( I hope this is just a one time occurrence because this restaurant has always had such a great reputation for quick delivery and great quality.

Well, it's now 4:32 and no sign of my order. The store is 1.4 miles from my hotel. There's nothing freaky fast about anything here except how fast my blood pressure is rising.

Love it! Coming from a place where subway is the norm and nothing else is heard of this place is the best. The food is always extremely fresh, the bread is not hard and the delivery is quick. My only complaint is at times you can place an order for delivery and it will tell you "it is to late to place this order at this location because it is closing soon" and the order comes anyways ... -_- Software issue not theirs personally but still

I have never experienced a wait time like this for Jimmy John's. Don't order from this location.
Madeleine F.

There was over an hour between the time the driver left this location to the time they delivered my one sandwich and one drink. The driver was lovely and they did include free chips in my bag which was a nice surprise, but still, that is not timely service. I would recommend not ordering delivery from this location, only walk-in orders.

Veggie and jalapeño chips yum!

I love the green soft chairs, the tables, and the chef statue greeting you as you pull in front of the building. He's right there in the window. The bistro honestly takes your breath away. I love it! So in the last two weeks, I've been back exactly four times. My first introduction was the Croissant Scramble with chicken and veggies inside, with the Arnold Palmer. My friend got the Croissant Scramble with brisket. The presentation of the croissants when brought to the table blew me away. It was wrapped up in the cutest paper with the ends twisted. The topic of conversation was how good the croissants were. Before we left, we ordered some delicious cookies. The chocolate chips were yummy. So I went the following day and grabbed some pastries! One in particular was the Pecan Bar. The following week, another friend and I stopped in for the Chicken Pesto Omelet. I like that the fire-roasted bell peppers and onions are cooked, if that's the right word. But l have to tell you, the Mexican Hot Chocolate drink brings on the flavor, as does the ice-cold Mocha. Of course, we got the Pecan Bar for dessert. So yes, I went back yesterday for the Almond Croissant. I know, I know!

I'm really disappointed with my recent experience. I placed a custom birthday cake order about a…read moremonth in advance for my partner's birthday dinner, with pickup scheduled the same day as the celebration. When I arrived, I was told the cake wasn't ready and was asked if I could come back the next morning--which obviously didn't work given the timing of the event. As a substitute, they offered me a pre-made cake from their display case and assured me it was chocolate like I originally ordered, just with a chocolate mousse filling. They refunded me $15 to account for the difference, and I felt pressured to accept since I needed something for the dinner that night. Unfortunately, the situation got worse from there. When we cut into the cake, it turned out to be confetti--not chocolate. Then, when we tried to eat it, it was clearly stale, dry, and inedible. No one touched it after the first bites. It completely missed the mark for what was supposed to be a special moment. What's especially frustrating is that I ordered from them last year for the same occasion, and everything went perfectly--that's why I trusted them again. This time, however, it was a complete letdown from start to finish. When I called the next day to request a refund, I asked to speak with a manager but was told that wasn't possible. Instead, I was told I would only be offered a partial refund because I accepted the replacement cake. I understand that mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability and quality here was really disappointing--especially for something as important as a birthday celebration.

Came with the family to this giant Asian shopping center that has a lot of Chinese and Vietnamese…read morerelated businesses and restaurants. I read the Yelp reviews before coming (more on this later). I only had the traditional bahn mi with three kinds of pork, including sliced and pate. The bahn mi was as it should be, a thinner sandwich bread, similar to a baguette but skinnier, with lightly pickled daikon and carrot, a cucumber, cilantro, and jalapeno. It was delicious. Which brings me to the Yelp reviews. A number of them are complaining that the bread isn't as large as a traditional French baguette. This is because a bahn mi doesn't traditionally have a larger sized baguette. A traditional bahn mi bread is inspired by a French baguette, because the sandwich is a fusion of French and Vietnamese cuisines, since the French colonized Vietnam and influenced some of their food and architecture. But it isn't traditionally as thick as a baguette, and is made of a mix of wheat and rice flour. The owner happened to be typing on his laptop and I talked to him about the bread. It is made in house, by him. It is made thin, but doesn't have rice flour. I was frankly grateful that it wasn't a normal sized baguette, because that would have scraped up my mouth and required having a lot more toppings to balance the ingredients with the bread, making a much larger sandwich than I would want to eat. In the US, a restaurant owner making a bahn mi often faces a choice between making their own bread in house, having a local bakery make it for them, or buying from a bakery that already makes French baguettes. So what people are used to eating isn't authentic, but is a cost-saving tradeoff made by using a regular French baguette, usually the cheapest of the options. So before you complain about the shape and size of the bread, please understand that this is closer to the real deal than you are used to and not a defect of the bahn mi bread served in this restaurant, despite being named "Baguette House". The rest of the sandwich is open to criticism and I agree with some that the pickled veg could have used more vinegar, but the bread was well-made, crunchy crispy outside, with a soft interior. Delish.

I usually go for the chicken or ribeye beef bánh mì, and the portions are just right--not too much, not too little. The bread is made fresh daily, which really makes a difference. I also appreciate that there's some flexibility with customization if you're not a fan of certain traditional garnishes or want to add extras. Their Vietnamese and Thai dishes are consistently good as well--I tend to stick with their curry, which never disappoints. On this visit, I stopped by for Vietnamese iced coffee and some baked goods. I tried the shortbread cookies; they weren't soft like I had hoped (their lemon cookies are soft and delicious- my husband had it from here before), but that's pretty typical for shortbread. The iced Vietnamese coffee is one of my favorites here--perfectly balanced, not overly sweet and not too bitter. The café has a nice setup with a decent amount of seating--great if you want to stop in for coffee or sit down and enjoy a meal with family. The staff are always friendly!

Okay Cuban Food in Pflugerville…read more Tropicana sets the standard for Cuban food in this town. I have not been to Havana on South Congress in years. Back in the day, Havana impressed as well. What about Chicho's? It won't thrill you. It won't kill you. * * * a) The menu at Chicho's is small. The menu at Tropicana is infinite. Chicho's is mostly a sandwich place. But they have some plates. Tropicana has everything. b) Servings at Chicho's are small. Small servings? At a Cuban restaurant? Yes - Miami has some Cuban restaurants with small servings too. But Cuban is where you often go when you are looking for some serious bellybusting. Havana Harry's is the model for ... your appetizer, your main course and your dessert are EACH as filling as a Thanksgiving Dinner. That is three Thanksgiving Dinners. The pork chop I got at Chicho's was cut thin. How thin was your pork chop, Samuel C? Funny you should ask, Yelp Reader. It was maybe a thickness of three on a delicatessen slicer. Probably closer to two. It was like eating a slice of ham out of an Oscar Mayer ham for little kids's lunch pack. It was nicely sauteed and had a sweet sauce. (Shades of the Oscar Mayer ham again). I ate my ration. There was an ice cream scoop's worth of congris. It was first rate congris ... the best thing on the plate. I was sad when my ice cream scoop's worth was gone. There were four maduros which counts as a legal but unimpressive serving. They were standard. There was a miniscoop of salad - but you know the salad you get as a side garnish in Mexican and Cuban restaurants. You don't eat it and it is no loss. * * * The other downside was the strawberry juice drink con leche. It was a standard industrialized strawberry pulp pack for drinks Which is par for the course when you order these things. Either something was funny with the strawberry pulp or something was wrong with the milk. 85 percent of the sips were okay. 15 percent were - wait a minute - something is wrong. The wrongness was inconsistent enough that I did not want to complain to management. But the more I reflect on it - the more I am sure I would not order another juice drink for a beverage. * * * Overall, my basic dishes were good enough that I could see eating there again if I happened to be in the neighborhood. But Pflugerville is full of amazing places ... And there is some great Yelp reviewing to be done in that town. And if I am hungering for Cuban ... there is always Tropicana. * * * Actually ... If I am hungering for Cuban ... There is always Miami. Eat at the best Cuban places in Miami And you will be so happy you will never want to eat again. Plus you will be so full it will be physically impossible for you to eat again. Ever. * * * No Cuban restaurant in Austin takes you to that extreme of happiness. But Tropicana does a good job of getting you 2/3 of the way there.
