Glenda loves Jimmy John's, but I've always been a Firehouse Subs guy. If I'm with Glenda, Jimmy John's it is! I joined their email club and they do lots of specials. They have a good selection and the sandwiches are always fresh and delicious. I really like the Italian and Glenda is a tuna nut. The staff does a great job, and ordering in the app is so easy. So, I LOVE JJ'S usually.. The sandwiches are delicious and generally pretty predictable. However, when we have the slogan "FREAKY FAST" and it takes almost 30 mins for ONE sandwich, I am frustrated. When I order from the app (30 mins prior) and it for it to be made ASAP, wait in line to pick it up and a customer in front of me gets their food first, that is frustrating. When a worker asks "Like, did you pay" and another asks if I "need a bag" , but forgets to complete the order and put the chips in the bag, it just amplifies the horrible customer service. Jimmy John's just opened up in Abilene Texas 4213 Southwest Drive right next to the Payless Shoes. You would thing Abilene had enough sandwich shops but I guess not. Good sandwich about the same amount of meat that you get at a Subway just a few blocks away. Less meat than Jason's Deli down the road. I found Jimmy John's to be a little small and hard to find a seat. People stop a few feet as they enter the restaurant to look up at the menu causing a blockage for other who know what they want (a simple ham & cheese). Worth the stop in to see what it's about. Let start by saying that I love Jimmy John's. I'm from Dallas, and go to Jimmy John's quite frequent. I come to Abilene once a week for Business. I have never been to this location before, so today I was short on time, so I stop by for a quick sandwich for dinner. I think that the young guy working the register needs to be retrained on CustomerService. Let me describe him, just in case he reads this, so that he knows who I'm talking about. He is A young Hispanic looking kid. With dark hair, man bun, and a bad beard. I do understand, the kids today really do not want to work, much yet help anyone else. I really enjoyed the sandwich from here, that is why I gave it four stars. Now let me get back to my description of customer service. First, this place was dead. It was around 6 PM on Tuesday 8/8/17. When I first walked in, I was not greeted at all. But with most Jimmy John's I have attended, seem to greet you as you walk in. Either with a hello or "welcome to Jimmy John's.". But that didn't bother me at all, what bothered me the most is when I walked up to the counter, I asked if they took American Express. Not knowing if they did or did not. Most fast food restaurants do, but I like to ask just in case , Before I put my order in. I would hate to put my order in and find out they do not. Well I asked the gentleman behind the counter, "do y'all take American Express?" With disrupted look on his face as, if I was already supposed to know that answer. If he could've said "Duh" I think he would've said it. Just buy the facial reaction he gave me, I felt put off by that. So I went ahead and place my order. Again, the sandwich was excellent. I appreciate the young man who put my sandwich together. Now he, a knowledge me, said sir and told me to have a nice evening. But before I walked out, I grabbed a bag of chips. As I grab one bag, several seem to fall. And again the young man behind the counter at the register didn't acknowledge what was going on, he just stood there watching me. Instead of saying, "don't worry about sir, I will take care of it". He stood behind the counter as if he was amused by me struggling with chips that where falling. I know some of you might think, then I was embarrassed by the situation. I wasn't! I myself deal with customers every day. I'm a customer service representative, I work with veterinarians, and pet food stores all around the state of Texas. So, instead of letting the chips just sit there on the floor I decided to pick them up. To me that is just common courtesy. I do understand that employees at fast food restaurants do not get paid a large amount of money. But I do not like for them to think that customers do care about them. Again, I do appreciate the young man who put my sandwich together. But the young man working the counter, register, needs to understand if you're going to work in customer service, you need to have a different attitude. And if you do not like working in customer service, maybe you should find a place where you don't have to deal with customers. Update: 1/8/2020 I have never returned to this location...I still come to Abilene once a week..and I never heard frm the manager or the company. So I guess no one frm here ever looks at this. read more

It all began when a Jimmy Johns delivery man showed up with samples to offer us at our office. I accepted a #1 ham and cheese challenge. Ok, so it wasn't Man vs Food by any means. It's just enough to make you really hungry. As one of their signs state "your mouth isn't watering, it's crying for Jimmy Johns." They had me at hello. Lunch time rolled around and I had to satiate my hunger. Proper and hearty greeting by all the Abilene staff . . .it could have only been better had they all greeted me with British accents. First time visit to this place. Nice and clean behind the counter. Customer service wasn't all that great. The big draw back for me was that the guy making the sandwiches was not using gloves when handling the food. The wheat bread was fresh. My wife had the #1, Pepe, and the lettuce was wet and soggy. They really loaded the sandwich down with lettuce also! I had the #5, Vito, on wheat. A little heavy on the vinaigrette and the peppers were on the sandwich but they were no where near hot. Abilene Texas Worst experience in customer service! I will never go back!!!!! The girl at the counter had no idea what she was doing. But that is not the part that annoys me. We literally sat down to eat and my three year old accodently drops her sandwich. ( I cleaned it up) Not only did they not offer to remake it. But I asked if it was possible to do like half a sandwich. They said they only do 8 inches in that sandwich. And they just stood there and looked at me. Not even an apology! Unfortunately the only cash I had was what I spent on the other sandwiches I bought. I did not have enough to buy another one. So of course I am going to give my sandwich to my baby. Very inconsistent delivery. If the driver on shift doesn't feel like it, they'll tell you you're outside their delivery area even if they've delivered to you multiple times before. Lazy. Inconsiderate. Good sandwiches I guess though if you're willing to roll the dice. read more

Visited this location for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I was extremely impressed. I walked in, was greeted by a very friendly cashier, and was asked if I had been to Jimmy John's before. I said that I hadn't, and the cashier concisely explained the menu. I asked him for a recommendation, and he gave me a few and explained them. I ordered, paid, and grabbed my cup for my drink, and by the time I walked over to the soda fountain my order was completed. The service was jaw-droppingly fast, and the sandwich tasted great, not sloppily made at all. The ingredients were fresher than Subway's, and the restaurant was nicer looking and cleaner than the average Subway as well. Would definitely recommend. read more
