I walked in on a weekday and was given a spot immediately. Their store is very spacious with lockers for your personal items and they have a reclining chair for the hair washing station so it's not an ab workout to get on/off! Service and attentiveness is amazing here. Here comes the haircut part. I have really thick hair so even when I go for a trim, the hair cut can take almost an hour. My hairdresser was AJ - I told him what I wanted (2-3 inches trim) and he said he was only going to cut layers in the front and leave the back as is given how thick my hair is, it'll be too frizzy if he layers Sure. He was done with my haircut in 20 minutes, and as I got up to check I noticed multiple hair sticking out in odd places. He sat me down and went off snipping those off. I take off the apron and towel and recheck - there's still uneven areas, so he fixed it while I was standing. While he was "layering" the front of my hair, I told him I like my hair part on my left side. He said "you will have more volume if you switch parts to your right side" and proceeds to cut my hair with my hair parted on the right. I've never had my hair "layered" like this but the ENTIRE front section of my hair looks like it was just chopped off in a straight line (see picture) without a gradual shift in lengths. This review's saving grace is he did say if I had a problem with my haircut I can always come back and get it fixed. But unfortunately I don't have the time to go back and also not sure how they can fix this when it's already that short. So 5 stars for service and the rocket ship of a hair wash station, but hair cut was very much below my expectations for a $70 price tag.

I do NOT let anyone other than Tommy touch my hair. He is beyond amazing with hair. Whatever you need to get done, perms to color, he does it amazingly! No other words necessary! I can not get magic straight and not worry how my hair is going to come out. I can get anything done to my hair and not worry about the outcome. It's such an amazing feeling to be able to get my hair done without any fear

First off, the owner is no longer the woman listed here. Current owner is Tommy. I had the worst…read moreservice from a hair salon at Hair Bangk. I made a Japanese Hair Straightening Perm appointment in advance and asked the owner Tommy which product he's going to use. He said Mucota. Out of curiosity, I googled Mucota since I've been doing Japanese Straightening for about 2 decades and never heard of it. Mucota has 3 lines with the most expensive providing best hair protection. I was actually excited to try it. I was the only customer on the day of my appointment upon arrival. I asked Tommy which product he's going to use (want to find out which line of Mucota he would use). Tommy was just beating around the bush and would not answer such a simple question. I was quite persistent and in the end he told me he would use Milbon. I was surprised by the switching of brand since I was there for Mucota as he told me. I brought up the fact that he told me it was Mucota on the phone. Tommy then pretended he misunderstood me. Apparently, Tommy is a liar. I should've left with this red flag. But I really want to try Mucota, so I stayed - BIG MISTAKE. I asked to see the product before they apply it to my hair. Not to my surprise, he was using the lowest line of Mucota (Opera). In fact, I am willing to pay more for the higher priced line which provides protection/treatment, but was turned off by his lie earlier, so I did not ask for the higher line. When Tommy and his assistant started to work on my hair, I can tell they did not apply the product carefully and meticulously. I mentioned to Tommy that there's one string of my hair is quite curly and asked him to make sure it is straightened (it does require more focus/work on that area based on my past experience). Tommy just brushed it off. What really shocked me was when the assistant applied neutralizer. For all the time I've had Japanese Straightening, other salons applied the cream like product with gloved hands rub into or brush onto my hair string by sting. This assistant used a bottle (like those on a restaurant table with sauces) and poured onto my hair and scalp. The product is very diluted. Before I know, the chemical is all over my scalp. I've never experienced such horrible treatment - imaging the damage to my scalp with this chemical. If you want to save money with diluted product, at least rub the product into hair, not pour. As a result, my hair gets extremely oily - on the same day I wash it. Obviously my scalp was clogged with this chemical. When the time comes to cut my hair, Tommy had no intention to ask my thoughts. I had to stop him and tell him how I want it to be cut. Guess what, he said it's all the same when it comes to straight hair. He was very impatient when I mentioned the cut did not look like the way I want it during and after the cut. I still tipped even with such terrible experience as I know small business owners are impacted severely by pandemic. But there is not even a "thank you" from Tommy or his assistant. Also, his assistant is very cold and could not even wash hair properly - using his nails to clean/massage my scalp. I had to tell him to use finger pulps - isn't that basic knowledge for someone working in a salon? Tommy complained to me how his business suffered due to covid. But he rejected someone calling to come in when there is only one customer (me) in his salon by saying he's fully booked for the day. He also said his monthly expense is at least $10k. Obviously his business is doing well since he can afford only taking a few customers in an entire day and doesn't care to have more patrons, paying at least $10k each month, taking a family ski trip during holiday... How can covid have any impact on his business? If you provide this kind of low quality service with a I-know-it-all-and-don't-care attitude, your business will suffer even without covid. I sincerely hope your business will close door for good soon.

After researching various 'salons' (if you can call them that) S chose Queen Scalp. She'd been to a few others in the area. The studio is totally no-frills. That's actually my preference since bougie isn't my thing. The women who work there are as sweet as can be. Or I think they are. Nobody speaks English. The manager actually met us on the street and somehow knew we had a reservation. Climbing the stairs I had to laugh. There's a sign on the door to the effect of 'don't ask for sexual services.' Okay! I won't! (lol) The massage was both relaxing and invigorating. I have no idea what they put in my hair, but who cares. They also massage your arms, chest, pound on your back .... it was kind of cool. When booking the appointment, S was asked if she wanted Thai or Chinese. Not knowing the difference and since nobody speaks English, she defaulted to Chinese. I'm glad I was forewarned to bring a headband. While my hair was incredibly soft after the session, it looked like I stuck my finger in the socket. (They blow your hair out, in absolutely no style -- and if you have curly hair that's a big no-no.) Cash only. And while I didn't take photos, you can look at other reviews to see the layout. We opted to do the Thai style hair wash since we didn't know what anything entailed. Our sessions began with a simple shampooing. It is definitely a mom-and-pop vibe here so don't expect anything fancy. However for the price point ($100 for TWO people) and quality of services, we would definitely choose to come here again versus somewhere else.

In the past I would pay no more than $50 for this before tip so I brought $60 in cash. I wasn't really greeted or directed well but I think it's maybe due to the language barrier. I went to the wash station as directed. The lady offered me a leave in treatment for an extra $15. I asked how much the cut would be, she said $40 so the total would be $55. I said ok that's fine. As soon as they brought me to the chair to cut my hair, they started talking in Chinese about my hair. I already knew they were going to tell me the haircut costs more. The lady says so sorry but it's going to be $60, my boss says your hair is so long (pointing to the man cutting my hair). I said thats fine. Listen I know longer hair costs more but this should have been considered when I asked initially. The service was good, he did not cut off more than I asked and it was cut well. I get up to pay. No one is at the front to help me, so I'm looking around. A woman says "It's $65"..I'm like she just told me it's $60. I was super confused. She said, "I'm the boss, she doesn't know". At this point I won't argue over a few dollars. I zelle the $65 and I tell "the boss" I sent the money. This woman then has the audacity to say "$75 right?" I almost caused a scene and I really don't ever do that. I proceeded to leave without tipping. I do not ever leave without tip but I felt so deceived. The hairdresser had the nerve to chase after me asking for tip and I said no you guys lied to me about the pricing. This experience was very unprofessional and I will not be back. It is a shame because I really did like the service! Maybe if you speak the language they will be more transparent about pricing.
