Excellent customer service! When I went in I wasn't sure if they would know or have the book I was looking (Bare Foot Gen) for as I have been to a few shops and haven't been able to get my hands on it. However the gentleman helping me immediately knew what I was looking for and showed me where they were. Just went in here for the first time yesterday. My guy's been going to the one in midtown since he was a kid, but had no idea this one was here. Pretty excited to discover it! I don't know how long it's been there, but it looked new-ish - clean and spacious. There's a space for gaming in the back, where some groups of kids were doing their thing. Not a huge selection, but it's a nice, pleasant shop. I bought an art book by a popular fantasy artist from the sale rack which was over 50% off list price for no apparent reason (maybe a tiny bit of shelf wear?), so that made me pretty happy - it was cheaper than I could have gotten a used copy online! read more

What makes a comic book store great is always the staff. The staff at JHU are simply amazing. I think of them as friends rather than staff. Dani, Nick and Ron are the most helpful, outgoing people you'll meet. I look forward to going to the store to discuss comics, movies and more. If you want to the whole nerdy, geeky experience go to JHU. Even if you don't know what to read just ask them, they'll always recommend something great. read more

This is a cool local comic book store located on the main business strip of New Dorp. It has a pretty decent collection, considering its size, and a fairly attentive staff. Definitely worth checking out if you're a novice comic book collector. read more

JHU on Staten Island is the best. I was in the store the other day and I heard someone say "Can i help you." I was like wow that voice sounds very familiar it was Nick (I know Nick from the Manhattan store he is one of the most knowledgeable comic book expert i know.) I always like speaking with him on various comic books and upcoming superhero movies. JHU has a great staff Keep up the great work. They always have a great selection of comic books and collectibles. I haven't been to a comic book store in ages and clueless about the world of comics. Nick was very knowledgeable and helpful by informing me of the new comics out these days. Often overshadowed and sometimes forgotten by its bigger sister site on 33rd, it still has a friendly staff. While it's not as big as it's sister site, books not available can be shipped from the store in NYC within a few days. Just try to avoid nonchalant opinions on comic related topics around certain employees, or you might end up in a discussion with no way out. read more

The first time I visited a comic book shop on Staten Island. I found their selection on Walking Dead a bit underwhelming, especially for such a popular series. They only had the past two issues and a few very old issues. They have a table set up in the back for card games which looked pretty neat if you're into that. Its in a busier area of the island but it was easy to find street parking. read more

One of my favorite places in the world. This is a little, personal comic shop with a huge selection of new releases and back issues. The graphic novel selection can get scarce, but let's stop pretending you're not buying your graphic novels off Amazon anyway. You go to a comic store for the 32-page issues, and this is the best place for that. The staff is terrific. When I first started getting into comics, Dani and Nick G never treated me like I didn't belong in their world and they never took me for a sucker to make a sale on something awful. They made genuine recommendations and tried to find me interesting material to read. Without their support, I doubt I would have stuck with comic books as a hobby. The layout of the store is intuitive and easy to navigate. There are lots of toys and statues for collectors. Just a great place. read more

Great staff! I have been coming here since I moved to Staten island and they have been very helpful. I started my comic collection here and have expanded it so much. They give me so much info and recommend many new reads to keep up with my favorite super heroes. The nicest staff, all very knowledgeable and willing to help you. They'll take the time to talk to you about what you're looking for, make recommendations, and can even order items that aren't found on the shelf. They also offer Friday Night game night for Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! that has a great crowd with a friendly atmosphere. I'm in this store at least once a week. read more

During my high school years I would come here after class to browse through their manga selection. It was decent in my opinion, considering not many places outside of Barnes and Noble carry that sort of thing. However, the last time I came here, one of the guys working that day attempted to feel me up as he passed by. Since then, I've never set foot in this store and never will. best comic shop on Staten Island. best staff on Staten Island. selection is great and if they don't have whatever you're in the market for, they'll try to order it for you whether it be a special order or an attempt to get it from the Manhattan branch. tons of comics, and plenty of TCG product (magic, pokemon, I've seen some force of will and other stuff before), bunches of toys and collectibles like busts and statues, shirts and vinyl figures. been going to this store since before high school, when they were in their older, smaller location on the corner of the same block.
