Comic Crypt since my last visit has moved but I'm not sure it's an improvement. The shop has plenty of parking with the main entrance being on the side. Long box and graphic novel selection was good. Wall book selection was fair. The casket of cheap comic books still exists among the shops general toy and collectable selection. One of the shops strongest points is the selection of well-priced vintage toys. My biggest problem with the shop is the space because it's crowded and difficult to move around. One person starts looking at some budget books, you can't access the long boxes. If you have mobility issues, this shop could be an issue. Staff were reasonably knowledgeable. This is a tough shop to review as everyone I visited with had differing opinions. Comic Crypt is probably a 3 or 3.5 as a shop overall, but the selection gets it to a 4. The shop needs double the space they have right now, or at least some major rearrangement to better utilize what they currently have. read more

Super cool comic book store. There's a large about of decently priced comics. There's a lot of toy/action figures new & old school. I'd highly recommend this spot for your geek needs! The dude at the counter was helpful & was chill to talk to. Will definitely swing by there again when I'm back in that area. Keep up the good work!!! read more

So many comic books! Good selection of action figures and the guy who works there is super helpful. My oldest grandson (3) and loves Spider-Man. My son had taken him here so I took him as a surprise after picking him up from daycare. read more

Nothing like the great feeling of finding a winner among back issues, just to have the fart at the counter decide he wants to "check eBay", and immediately raising the price from what is listed on the sticker. Guy, if we wanted to shop on eBay, WE WOULD SHOP ON EBAY. Charge the sticker price, or open an eBay store. read more

Comic Crypt is okay. I sometimes go to their store ignoring the political bs they say inside the store when I just want a freakin' comic book. They have a decent amount of stuff and I would pretty much recommend them to check out. read more

I enjoy stopping in to different shops to check out the back issues while I am in the area so I have been to this store a few times while in Long Branch. I will never be returning to this store. I stopped in this week because I was in the area doing some Christmas shopping at the mall which is close by. I spent about 30-45 minutes looking through the long boxes and found a few books that I liked and fit into what I'm collecting. I went to the register to pay, and as I am pulling out my money the guy at the register says "sorry dude, I'm going to have to upcharge this" and held up a copy of "Star Wars: Thrawn" #1 which had a $5 sticker on it. I asked him what he meant because I have never been "upcharged" on a comic book. He turns around and looks at his friend that's standing in the corner and says "this is a $20 book now so I'm going to have to upcharge you." I guess because they said the characters name on The Mandalorian the shop owner felt this book should now be sold for more than what he would have been happy to sell it for 5 days earlier? Customers are customers, we shouldn't be the ones pulling product from your floor to be marked up. As a customer, I don't expect to spend time looking through a store finding things to buy to then be told I have to pay more than what is marked on the items. Especially as a collector, if I wanted to pay eBay prices for back issues then I would save myself the half hour I spent digging through the long boxes in a store and just paid the $20 online. It was $15, the guy could have just shrugged and been happy he had someone in his store buying a stack of books. I likely would have come back every few months like I always do and spent a few hundred dollars throughout those trips, but now they've lost a customer over 15 bucks. read more

Good prices on their back issues and they have discount .25 cent and 1.00 boxes. The person that worked there was a very friendly person.

Everything you want in a comic book shop! A wide selection of current and back issues, a nice variety of toys, games, collectibles, and novelty items. The owner and his staff are friendly and knowledgeable, providing top notch customer service. At any given time you can find yourself engaged in fun conversation with both staff and patrons making for not only a pleasant shopping experience, but an all around good time. Great for the hardcore long term collector, casual fans, and newbies alike. Plenty of stuff for the little ones, and shopping made easy for the mom, wife, or girlfriend of that big geek at home! I've patronized the shop for years, and continue to get my comics from them either via mail, or when I visit home. I can't imagine buying from anybody else! The Crypt also hosts after hour Official Magic and HeroClix Tournaments, as well as art shows with live performers. I've attended one of the live performance events, and it was a really great time. Its the small businesses like this that are the true backbone of Jersey. I can't recommend The Comic Crypt enough! read more

This comic shop is very small, but I was pretty impressed with the selection they had to offer. It honestly seemed like they carry mostly older comics. Plenty of back issues with reasonable prices. The only thing was I didn't really see an area with the comics that just came out that week. other than that, great shop. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

You couldn't find a better comic shop if you tried. The selection of new and old comics is great, and there's a good range of action figures an other collectibles. What really makes this shop though is the owner. He reads comics and really knows his stuff. Outside of being knowledgable about what he's selling he'll shoot you straight. He gives his honest(sometimes brutal) opinions on books instead just trying to sell them. And to top it off it feels like a clubhouse for collectors and comic readers Hands down the best shop I've ever been to. read more

Formerly known as Amazing Stories, this little comic book shop is the TARDIS of comic shops. Looks small from the outside, but it's big on comic books, gaming, and toys on the inside. Nice selection of back issues that includes the good old quarter bins which sometimes hold hidden gems and recent books from the past year. The double annual 1/2 off on back issues THAT INCLUDES WALL BOOKS! Great subscription service that offers discounts based on how many books you subscribe to. Great for any comic book collector. On the gaming front they have a plethora of magic the gathering cards (new and old) and have a magic tournaments scheduled throughout the year. They also sell Heroclix and is the only place that I know of in the area that have Heroclix tournaments. The toys that they sell are reasonably priced and they hold new and old action figures based on comic books/television/movies and the random Cthulhu plush. This store is a comic book readers store. It's for collectors young and old and a great place to talk about comics, tv/movies and toy collecting. read more
