There I saw a sign that said 5.00 for each book. Now, there were hardbacks in really good shape, there were trade paperbacks in really good shape mostly, and then there were mass paperbacks. I'm found one hardcover that I really wanted and one trade paperback. I realized that I could buy both online at thriftbooks for most like less with no shipping cos, so I left. Maybe consider doing a price scale? if I hadn't just paid 15.00 for 8 children's books that I will be setting outside on Halloween for kids hat either can't have candy or would just like a fun book for free, I probably would have bought the books I wanted. I visited The Book Trader a few days ago. What an experience!…read more First of all, they have every type of book imaginable. From cookbooks to sci fi, from fantasy to biographies, from adult romances to children's picture books! You could find books from the 1600s all the way until the 21st century. The Book Trader is exactly what its name says: it trades books. You can bring books, which they will give you store credit for and then you can buy books for cheaper than they would cost in a regular store. This was such a great idea, in my opinion. I traded in 2 books and bought one. Now, aside from being separated vaguely by genre and authors' works being mostly together, there is no other sorting system to this store. Books, as you can see in my pictures, are all over the place and it is very hard to walk around parts of the store. If you want a specific book...good luck! Also, make sure you have cash on you. The store only takes cash and checks.

I went to the Starbucks in Barnes and Noble in Holmdel this morning and I felt like I should write…read morethis review. I was there when they opened April 24. I bought a cappuccino. After starting to drink it... I realized that this is the one of the worst cups of coffee I had ever attempted to consume. The barista had over over over frothed the milk and it literally tasted like butter. It was gross and not drinkable. I waited in line again and I said "this coffee isn't very good. May I please have a black iced coffee instead?" (This is the simplest easiest drink I could think of. I didn't want to trouble her.). She replies... "what's wrong with it?" Me... "it tastes like a stick of butter" Her..."it's supposed to taste that way. It's frothed milk." Me... "No it's not. I have made and drank many cappuccinos and they are not supposed to taste like a stick of butter. I literally can not drink this." Her... "whatever sir... they are supposed to taste like that...but if you want something else, I'll have to give to you a refund." Me... "the iced coffee and the cappuccino are the same price... does that matter?" Her..."sir. Don't be rude. I'm trying to help you." Then she mumbles under her breath... "I'm not dealing with this shit today." Me... "ma'am why are you being so rude? I can obviously hear you mumbling." Her...again..."I'm trying to help you sir. Go wait over there" Then... she mumbles under her breath more... Makes me an iced coffee with so much ice she can't even put the lid on... and basically throws it at me. I am a regular customer at Starbucks in Long Branch. I worked in food service for 2 decades and have owned restaurants. I am the most polite coffee customer imaginable and this woman was just an awful person to deal with in every way. The coffee was really bad too. I hope someone in charge there sees this and has a word with her.

I found books I absolutely love--some I discovered on my own and others that were personally recommended by the store's fabulous curator, and owner Peter. When I mentioned a book I had recently read and loved--Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin--Peter immediately jumped up, went straight to the bottom shelf, and pointed it out. There was even a handwritten staff recommendation and summary attached to the book. Many of the books throughout the store have these thoughtful mini-reviews, which made browsing feel so personal and engaging. I love the overall vibe of this shop. The selection of gifts is just right: a charming mix of journals, candles, book-themed merchandise, and a few toys--including stuffed animals. I fell in love with a stuffed bear and now I'll have to go back because I didn't purchase him (regret!). If you have the time, I highly recommend setting some aside to slowly explore the shelves, stacks, and cozy nooks of this beautifully curated bookstore. It's an absolute delight

They didn't have the specific book I was looking for on my last visit but I still left with a mystery "Blind Date with a Book" book! Wrapped up and only giving me a tease of what it's about and only $5. Very excited to add this to my book-loving mom's gifts this year. The store has a variety of books, some new and some classics. I also love checking out their book club section on the far right wall for some recs for future reading. The team that was working that day let me know that almost everyone you see in store is a volunteer & that they host lots of events over the course of the year.

I have been wanting to read something of Michener and discovered two near new versions of novels for $1 each. Such a wonderful island amidst Asbury Park's exciting restaurant and business scene.
