Selection of books who outstanding the value was good, and the customer service was great

This was a great experience when visiting Princeton! There were so many sections to choose from with a wide variety of topics and authors. Definitely worth a visit. Better than any commercial book store. The prices were standard along the lines of a B&N, and the store did offer many sale items and books. Everyone working in the store was very friendly and attentive. Will go back if I'm in Princeton again. read more

I wish I lived closer to Princeton! I make it a point to always stop by this bookstore when I am in town. The store is spacious and chill. Modern looking. Great lighting... My favorite is their curation of books which also reflects US social/political/economics at any moment in time you are there, although the space holds books on any subject you want to look for. I know that when I walk in there I will for sure find something that would catch my interest. Probably because the store is located right across Princeton University campus, the selection of books is always very educational and diverse in voices and subjects. But unlike in other bookstores near universities, I noticed, Labyrinth still maintains an independant vibe. Once I walked in for books about writing, and found lots of books I have not heard about or seen in B&N or any other bookstores. It was like a breath of fresh air to walk into a bookstore and find something different than what I am used to seeing and discover new material. Books are priced the same way they are in other bookshops. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Labyrinth also offers games, it's own branded merch and art by NJ local artists. If you are or are not a booklover - you should definitely check it out. For example one time I went there with my boyfriend, who isn't as big of a reader as I am due to his busy schedule and doesn't purposely keeps up with literary news as I do - and he still found some books that caught his interest that he purchased! It's simple .... walk through the doors and if you are someone who believes in expanding your horizons you will never want to leave! This is truly a booklovers' paradise! I watched with joy as my 4 year old grandson rushed into the book store where he quickly found an encyclopedia of insects with vivid photos. He hurriedly brought it to me to celebrate his discovery. Cases and cases filled with great literature ... you can find all too many books that closed minded politicians in Florida, Texas and other southern states would love to create a bonfire with probably because they struggle with words that have more than the four letters in them. Words they are used to spewing to media types that bow down before them. You can find that obscure study of history, rows and rows of books of poetry, and even a cookbook or two. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The customers can be found leafing through books with smiles on their faces. Books you can hold ... books you can treasure... the biggest challenge is determining which book or books you will purchase knowing you are leaving behind a few books you really want to read! Homer to Shakespeare to Ibsen to Twain. Cummings to Frost to Hawthorne and more. Studies of Moore and glimpses at Van Gough. And, I walked away with a book on writing... perhaps knowing a book is on its way. read more

Great value on sale books. Seats and elevator. Knowledgable and helpful staff. Terrific author events too. I have shopped in many used bookstores in the Philadelphia/New Jersey/Delaware Valley area, and this was absolutely the BEST customer service I have ever experienced! Every employee I came into contact with was friendly, and one guy named Max stopped his stocking the shelves and recommended and searched for for used books for me all over the store, for a genre I was interested in. Who does that???? I was interested in buying a signed copy of a book that they said on the internet was available, but when they checked, it had already been sold. Unfortunately, there is a lag between what is on the internet and real time. But the other experiences with their employees and finding some other great books overshadowed this "bummer"! I had great experiences with every employee I came into contact with (about four or five of them), I plan to return to the area, and DEFINITELY plan to be back to this GREAT store! read more

Screw Disney, Labyrinth Books is the happiest place on Earth!! When my friend took me there for the first time I literally wanted to move in and never ever leave. They have the best staff in the whole world and the most amazing collection of books I've ever seen. I love this book store. Super central on Nassau, and it's great for students and general customers alike. Outside there are usually tables of remaindered books. Inside, the tables up front have a good mix of fiction and non-fiction. They also manage to have lots of gift items, stationery, and other doodads without it feeling like they'd rather you buy some tat than actual books. There's a good new books section with hardback and paperback fiction and I found a few gems in there. The general fiction section is sizeable, and genres are broken down consistently. My only small complaint is that literary non-fiction is largely behind the service counters so I didn't want to browse for too long in fear of getting in the way. Downstairs is given over mostly to academic texts for university courses, but there are also some specialist categories down there (including books in French and Spanish, sciences, photography). There are also some second-hand and sale books there. Service is great and they're happy to help you find a title. read more

Labryrinth Books is a place I could get lost in for hours. Such a cool place. The store is always very well maintained with plenty of staff to provide assistance if needed. The sections are clearly labeled and they have so much to offer. New, used and rare books can be found all throughout the store. There are also really cool giftable items everywhere. I recently stopped by to do some Holiday shopping and I was able to find some amazing gifts for family and friends. Brand new releases and of course so many classics. Beware if you have a weakness for books: you may find yourself sorely tempted at Labyrinth! This bookstore has a great selection of bestsellers, academic reads, and everything in between. I often come to browse the discounted book tables outside and have snagged some great finds. The store inside is well lit and well organized, with rare books and fun book-related merch in the front, kids section in the back, and a considerable selection of used books in the basement. They also have unique cards and stationary, some made by local artists/craftspeople. Their staff is also wonderful. They've helped me find books and order books for pick up or delivery. The woman in the children's book section is a particular gem, giving me great suggestions for books for my niece and nephew and for baby showers. The bookstore also hosts many author readings and book-related events, on par with stores in major cities. It's also independently owned, which is a great way to support the local community. This book store has it all- serious curb appeal with multiple outdoor book displays on the sidewalk, excellent prices, and friendly staff. We purchased six books and spent less than $80. There are multiple places to sit and relax, and several "kiosks" staffed with friendly and informative staff members. Highly recommend. read more

I spend a lot of time in Princeton, so it's a wonder I've never made it into Labyrinth Books. Was walking down the street to Starbucks to do some homework when I decided on a whim to just check it out. The big windows and colorful array of books was intriguing enough for me! When I walked inside I feel like I stumbled upon a hidden treasure and am now still kicking myself for going 21 years without ever entering this haven for book lovers (I mean, COME ON MATT!) The store is deep and spans two levels. The bottom level is more for school books or course books during the school year (Princeton University is directly across the street--so you can feel extra intellectual while browsing books). The main level is where you will do most of your shopping. They have tons of genres, and the tall shelves, once you get deep enough, truly make you feel like you are lost in a labyrinth of books. The collection is huge. You'll find something to read, I promise. There is also a large collection of "coffee table books." These were really fun to browse through. The prices are pretty good too! The tags all show a "List Price" and then under it they list "Our Price" which, as far as I saw, is always cheaper. My favorite part of the store were all the "Sale" bins. There were tons of them. These aren't just all no-name, "throw-away" books (if there is such a thing). There were some prolific authors and best sellers in these bins. The prices in these bins are fantastic too. I bought a book from the philosophy bin called Too Much Magic by James Howard Kunstler listed at $18 that I picked up for 7 bucks. I saw books marked down as far as to 5 bucks. Some really great deals if you just want to go in and grab a new book! The service is great too. Everyone has a smile on their face and is eager to talk to you or help you find something. I will definitely return to this store the next time I am in town--can't wait to read my new book! And the moment you've all been waiting for: Do hot guys work here? I am a fervent independent bookstore supporter and the selection here is fantastic. It is well organized and stocked with some great titles. Their bargain books are decently priced as well. I was treated very well by the staff there. The store offers 10% student discounts, which is a huge plus (even on magazines). Overall this bookstore is a wonderful find in Princeton. read more

My only experience with Labyrinth is through an online order I placed recently. In regards to my order, I spoke with a bookseller (Heather) and customer service (warehouse) who were incredibly friendly, helpful and answered questions to my satisfaction. My order shipped quickly (a couple of days after placing order) and it arrived in excellent condition. One of my favorite bookstores! Walked in and was immediately told there were free bagels and cream cheese downstairs. Score. They have everything here with a huge foreign language section downstairs and an adorable children's book area in the back of the store. The store is spacious and well-organized. Very knowledgeable staff willing to help you in any way. Clean restrooms. They also have a well-curated online catalog if you can't make it to the store in person. LOVE this bookstore, located in historic Princeton. I go here every time I'm in town. Such a great selection and plenty of discounted books, which I love. Outside of the store, you can pick through clearance books (there are some inside as well) and the downstairs area is great for students looking for school books. They have assorted accessories as well, like cute socks, cards, pens, candles, etc. There is a discount offered for members and for students. Everything is organized well. Clean, big location. There are a lot of things to love about Labyrinth Books. Its location is the first of many great attributes. The first thing you'll notice when you get to Labyrinth is the selection of discounted books outside the store. In addition to the discounted books outside, the basement of the store is also full of discounted books. However, I was slightly disappointed by the selection of discounted books. Not many were fiction books, most were nonfiction. They did have a good selection of foreign language books though. The floor level of the store had a large selection of books of all genres, but the prices were quite high. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this store, but if I was in the area, I'd stop in again. read more

there's something airy yet oddly intimate about this bookstore. it's not quite the stereotypical bursting-with-vintage-titles indy bookstore of a woody allen movie, but there are plenty of little nooks to hide away and read in, plus there are long banquet-like tables lined with books at the center. you can idle your way around them and check out the picks of the intriguing stranger across the way. overall, great selection and friendly staff. no one makes you feel like an interloper for reading and not buying anything. read more

And while I truly enjoy supporting local businesses, I'd honestly rather have a Barnes & Noble here because at least I'd be guaranteed some friendlier service and cheaper prices. The clean appearance is refuted by the snarky nastiness of the staff. The decent selection of books is hampered by expensive books. Yes, I understand you can't compete with corporate chains, but at least make the prices somewhat reasonable. There are those rare bookshops where you enter and feel like you have come home. This is one of these bookshops. It used to be more cosy inside, but maybe that's what a few years do to your memory. In any case, they have everything, and it is displayed in a spacious way that urges you to take your time, stroll around, sit down and flip through a few books. This is of course a bookstore in a university town, so you will even find Strabo or Xenophon in the original (with English translation on the corresponding over page). I picked up a history of Venice that will certainly take me through 2 weeks in Bloomington, and a book that was reviewed in the IHT last week. Staff was very helpful, although the cashier seemed to want me out asap. read more

**I have only shopped for MG and YA here** things I like about this store: -they often have a selection of books for really low prices in front of their store. It's like a really small IRL version of BookOutlet.com -I have found one random signed copy of a YA book here. Some how, they had signed copies of Rainbow Rowell's "Carry On" in their store four days before the official release date. -it is organized and somewhat aesthetically pleasing. main things I dislike about this store: -many staff members seem distant and rude. things that are nothing special: -the prices (with the exception of the books out front and clearance books, YA and MG are mostly full price. i've only found one good find in the kid's clearance so far) -the selection of YA/MG books is typical. they usually have new releases and a bunch of paperback best sellers. read more

Nice looking bookstore. Overpriced used books. Rarities aside, most of their inventory can be purchased on Amazon Marketplace for pennies. Also, the staff didn't seem particularly friendly. Then again I don't recall seeing the same faces, leading me to believe they have a high turnover rate. They have the market cornered in Princeton, though, so this trend will most likely continue unless a competitor opens. For my part, I'll shop elsewhere. read more
