Some random stuffed and blow-up toys, children's books and board games. This is sort of what I think of as the Shop Around the Corner vs the big box (Amazon since no more Toys R Us). This is my favorite kid's store! I wish this was around when I was a kid. There are so many great things in there - I could spend all day browsing. I've been in here a couple of times throughout the years, and visited again recently this month. I just kept thinking "this would make a great gift...for ME" lol. Fun for kids of all ages this "toy store" seems to specialize in educational and science games with a strong overlay of chemistry sets, small scale racing and trains. It's Princeton so your little progeny better be fluent in Mandarin or nothing here will make any sense. Of course I'm kidding but their selection of age-appropriate diversity and inclusion books and literature is enviable. This is the most amazing toy/book store I have ever been in. It had a big footprint but it is also filled with thoughtfully curated collections of books and toys for every age group. What is it about toys that is so captivating? Sure, you've probably outgrown most of your childhood playthings. But I'd venture to say that there's some toy from your past that immediately makes you feel like you're six again. (Remember the movie Hook? Being in Palmer Square, I thought I was going in a KB Toys or something equally mediocre. I played on my phone, feigning enthusiasm for the plastic dinosaurs my friend thrust in my face. And then I looked up, and there it was. THAT toy. The one that in a Peter Pan movie would totally make me fly. The one I've tried ordering online only to discover it's been discontinued AND is impossible to find on resale sites. The one I'd almost lost hope for. There it was: just one, just for me. I hugged my prize as I continued around the store. The sales clerk obviously loved his job and indulged my friend and me in various demonstrations of toys and contraptions as we discovered them without pushing us to buy or breathing down our necks. Our over-educated minds struggled to grasp how some fun designs worked, and Super Amazing Sales Clerk even took a robotic insect out of its packaging so we could play with it. (Robot bugs? Awesome, btw.) There were craft kits, Folkmanis puppets, miniatures, stuffed animals, puzzles, models, backyard toys... This is truly the kind of place that would make Kris Kringle proud. read more

This place is a real gem. Great selection, friendly staff and free gift wrapping. I did all my kids Xmas shopping here again this year. I feel like I'm cheating on them when of if I shop elsewhere. I'm very happy to support a locally owned, family run store. I know firsthand that it makes a difference. Amazon doesn't need my money nor will they get any. Such a fun place for your kids to explore, and a great spot to find unique gifts. Everything is very high quality here and many of the toys are heirloom, wooden toys. You will not find cheap toys here because there are no low-quality items, so don't be shocked at the upper-middle class price tags. Having said that, the prices do reflect the craftsmanship! Okay.. this store kind of makes me want to be 7 again (*sigh* when life was easy and full of fun). It seriously seems to have every random toy (including some huge easter eggs ??). This is an awesome toy store for younger kids. My family happened to stumble onto this place while walking around Palmer Square in Princeton. The toys here are unique compared to the bigger chain stores, and many of them educational as well. Walking around the store, looks like it'll mostly appeal to kids 12 and under. Shortly after my brother and his wife made the wildly irresponsible decision to make me the godfather to their only son, I discovered Jazams. And while it annoys the absolute hell out of me that no comparable toy store exists withing the limits of Philadelphia, this place is always worth the travel. And the 40 or so minute drive to Princeton is eased with a joint or a coffee cup cocktail. And the town is a real charmer: all lush and green and dotted with wild bursts of yellow forsythia and spots of pink tulips in spring; white and brilliant, all covered in icing, twinkling with Christmas lights during winter. One should wear a camel hair blazer or a cowl necked sweater under a trench if possible, when traversing the tiny streets of Palmer Square. The children will be better dressed than you anyway. Stop somewhere along the way, and taste the olive oils from Sardinia. Look, isn't that where Einstein bought his flatware? It is fun to make believe you may be mistaken for a graduate student. Your 1992 Suburu Legacy is safely tucked behind Chambers Street. Walk wistfully past Princeton Record Exchange. Remember the thrill of skipping school one Tuesday during Sophomore year to buy the new Belle and Sebastian record. And how there will never be anything as wholly satisfying as smoking Camel Lights with the windows down, racing through moneyed hills, whipping past the Governor's mansion with "The Boy With The Arab Strap" bouncing through Ben Posey's red Accura. Hand-carved alphabet blocks come in French, Arabic, Italian, Spanish, and Braille. German-engineered tricycles and rocking chairs stare from lacquered shelves. A clock designed by Bauhus. When did Keith Harring make those puzzles? There is nothing ugly, though baby's first cappuccino maker does seem a bit garish and wrong here. You settle on a toy wagon that costs more than your car insurance. River places a lovely bow on it, then wraps the Mr. Potato Head you bought for a gag in wrapping paper designed by Paul Klee. read more

I LOVE Jazams! I tend to peek in here every so often, and it gives me so much joy and I have so much fun looking at the beautiful toys they have to offer. I don't have any young kids of my own, but I am the proud god-momma to two girls under the age of five, and proud auntie of another rascal, a four year old boy; add in the fact that my friends and family are approaching the age that they will all be having children, I have much need to buy many a fun toy. I like to find really good, fun, substantial toys, those that serve an educational purpose, can help with development, etc. Jazams has such an amazing variety of toys; a lot of traditional favorites- stuffed animals, trains, legos, , and a lot of toys from newer companies, that focus on being eco friendly or educational, etc. They also have tons of art kits, creative toys, and fun stationary items, that I have bought for myself. You can find yourself spending a lot of time here- last time I was in here, a half an hour passed without me noticing! 12/28/09 I love this store and am surprised that it took me so long to wander inside. This is a traditional toy store--a lot of the classic wooden items, Legos, horses on sticks, bins of tiny (ie 1" or smaller) items, goofy things such as a quacking duckie keylight... I felt like a little kid again. 12/14/15 2 kids later and I still love Jazams! Perfect for birthday parties with toys in all price ranges, and a staff who has actually tried out all of the toys! The marble runs are impressive too--Q B Run sets that look like they're from Tron, Quercetti sets from Italy, then Haba if you're loaded. Now that we've lost our marbles, replacements are .19/each, cheaper than ppm for bags of 50 on Amazon. Most of the items are competitively priced too (there's a rumor that they're expensive, but yes, I've checked, and no, either the same price, slightly cheaper, or slightly more expensive.) They also have these fantastic tops that spin forever. If you're a parent, go here for swag bag gifts for the birthday parties---nothing will be tossed by the parents. The keychain tape measure actually works. Aunt, uncle, single? Get toys & recommendations here. They seriously have everything, plus a knowledgable staff and free wrapping.
