This is a really good Barnes & Noble too just like the other ones I have been to in my past. There is a huge selection of books to choose from with overall good prices and plenty to read before ordering or buying. It helps with choosing what book you might want to read before you get them so you know if the book is for you. And the atmosphere is good too as it is mostly quiet along with having a Starbucks which is good for if you're thirsty or hungry and want a quick bite or something to enjoy while you read. Again, utilize any Barnes & Noble left before they're all gone as they're still the best bookstore to go to that is still around. read more

I never see a line at the cashier but I do see a lot of high-caffeinated flopping on couches and chairs. Apparently, not buying must be exhausting work. Seriously, this location is certainly one of the biggest and most comfortable stores in the chain with an extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff. It's a pleasure to browse and shop. The only ding is the pricing of their music. Somehow, B&N is under the impression that the CD was introduced a year ago and all remaining fans of the fading medium will still form a line to pay $19.99 a pop to fill their ancient Sony Discmen. I don't get it but I suspect that I should just inhale my third Starbucks and be glad there's still a brick and mortar bookstore in existence that allows me to crash on their couch and plug in my Discman. read more

The Barnes and Noble store is totally fine - clean and well-staffed. But their Starbucks cafe is WOEFULLY understaffed. Typically there's only one employee both working the register and making the drinks/food - which can be time consuming with some of their new, complex offerings. I've waited upwards of 15 minutes to pay for a bottled water with only one customer ahead of me! read more

This is my go to study spot! There's ample amount of seating (with outlets!), it's clean and contains newer furniture, and there's just the right amount of noise - not too much or not too little. Not to mention that their Starbucks always gets my drinks just right and they have a large variety of pastries and snacks. I typically prefer going to local coffee shops to get my study on, but they usually close a lot earlier, which makes Barnes my go to when I want to do some work later on during the day. Book wise, this location has a larger selection of the books I read than the North Brunswick location. Both locations are relatively close to me, but I always come to this location because there's more room to study. And it's a bit newer inside! Additionally, it's conveniently located in Market Fair, which is perfect for a study break if you want to go shopping, go eat real food at one of the restaurants, or even catch a movie at the theatre! read more

The Marketfair Barnes & Noble's is a bit different than most of the stores I've been in- opting for a sprawling single-floor design. The interior of the store is extremely open, layout is a bit different than i'm used to as well, took some time to figure out where specifically their table-top books would be hidden away. The answer? Sorta near their board games section, past the teen books amidst the visual novels and manga. Someone decided to right click, group by: nerd-dom, but that's okay. Offerings were a bit limited in regards to D&D / Pathfinder kit, they had some chessex dice available in the board game section which had some decent stuff as well. You can generally tell about how popular pen and paper is in an area by the number of copies a store has available, and seeing PHB's on the same shelf as the artwork of skyrim says a lot. Alas dropping by did have some benefits, it'd been a while since I've looked at what wizards is putting out, turns out that includes pop up books- and they had one in stock. Me being a man child, of course i couldn't pass up the opportunity to have pop up maps and fold out pages. Now i could go on for an eternity about my purchase (Dungeonology) and how its a great entry level to get the little skamp's into rolling dice, but that wouldn't be an accurate summation of this store. The children's toys and games section was probably the most well equipped area of the store and had a lot of stuff i personally thought were cool, electronics / robotics kits for kids, book selection is so-so, depends on what your looking for. Prices were about what you'd expect, usually cheaper to just grab it online, but the convenience of having it right then and there is costly. Staff is friendly, and wiling to point you in the right direction if you ask, and the cashiers on shift that night happened to be be fans of pen and paper too. One a little more open and excited about it, the other a little more reserved. Would have been nice to stand and talk a little more shop, not too often you bump into another adventurer in the wild, let alone a cute girl- just goes to show pen and paper has risen from the basements and is accessible to all. I'll be back sometime for sure to browse, i dunno about buying any core book's with that markup though. read more

I am a fan of most bookstores. I prefer the large independently owned variety, but they are becoming increasingly rare in this area. You will find some in old school towns( Princeton and NewHope come to mind) but frankly the ones I'm thinking of are too small to offer a selection like B&N does. Like other reviewers, I preferred the previous location of this store. But it appears that it is just as large if not larger. They have the space to promote new releases and those are always cool to see. They are organized in a way that you can browse your interests you easily. I always make a point in coming here near the holidays, you will see many gift ideas you may not have considered. But I must make a confession, when I see something I would like to purchase I get it on Amazon. Out of all the B&Ns Ive ever been to, this is definitely the nicest one. It may not be the biggest but the layout is nice and well organized. This was my first time at this location and the store looked pretty new. The café area was huge and there were even outlets! If this place wasn't over 1 hour away from me I'd come here often to get work done. The café also had a nice selection of food and sweets. Probably the best B&N i've ever been to, and I've frequented quite a few. Multiple entrences entice you with best-selling books while all leading towards the center of the store, housing a Starbucks coffee with plenty of chairs and tables. People are always doing work or meeting up for a drink, creating a really nice atmosphere to browse through books, DVD's, magazines, and more. Physical bookstores are dissipating, making it much easier to appreciate what Market Fair still has, a legitimate book store. **Pro Tip: They do a GREAT job at stocking the books that students in the area have listed on their Summer Reading lists. So if your child needs an obscure book for summer reading, chances are this Barnes and Noble has it in stock. read more

Barnes & Noble is a great place to browse and purchase books and have coffee or tea in the cafe. It is not, however, a very good place to purchase movies or music because the prices they charge for these items are usually ridiculous. For example, a DVD of a new-release movie that could be bought at Borders for $19.99 will probably cost $29.99 at Barnes & Noble and will cleverly have a sticker attached for 15% off (with the intention of fooling idiots into thinking they are getting a great deal). Of course, in the end, the DVD will still end up costing you about $25.50... approximately $5.50 more than you would have spent elsewhere. read more

The worst cafe management. I do not know what happened ever since their reconstruction but the women who "run" this place should really learn how to treat their customers. I am not at all talking about their regular employees, they're great. Literally, their managers. How obnoxious can these ladies get? B&N please look into what type of people you are hiring to set an example for the rest of your employees. And the fact that I have been a loyal B&N customer for many years, it is extremely insulting. In terms of selection and location, it's good. They carry a more extensive selection than many other locations, probably because of their proximity to the university. My problem is the staff, who often seem overwhelmed and unable to help me when I need it. For example, today I called to ask if a book was in stock and I was bounced between various staff members and put on hold for SEVEN MINUTES *before* I could even get someone to look the book up on the computer! Completely unacceptable (and this was NOT during a busy time). I usually try to save myself the aggravation of dealing with these people and either order online or go to Borders (whose rewards program is free, by the way). read more

This Barnes is our go to for the fiancée and I. It's really nice and clean, pretty big and has a star bucks. The Starbucks here doesn't take the Starbucks card so you will need to use cash. But if you want to use you card just a small walk into the mall and you will find another. But other than that we normally use the large sitting area by the Starbucks, to do some studying or reading. Most people come to get some work done a big mix of people old and young. It's not the quietest but def a good place to sit and do work. If you want some quiet areas there are chairs with in the store. Nice place to come and work or just relax on top of finding great books. All around a good place to visit. read more

I don't understand why they felt like the old building wasn't good enough any longer. I liked the old store it was open and there was room to read and have talks from authors. It was at the far end of the mall so there was always a spot to park. But someone, in their infinite wisdom, thought it would be better to move the whole darn thing to the other end of the mall. Right next to the PF Changs where there was never any parking to begin with. So now even at 11am on a Tuesday parking is an issue. Markfair's B&N has to be one of the better B&N locations I've been to... the layout of the store actually makes sense and unlike most other locations they have not one, not two, not three, but four "New in Paperback" tables, which I think it totally cool... I entered the store with my entire family to purchase a book to which I contributed, and they had neither my copy nor record of my reservation. To top it off, her customer service was very poor. It's a mega bookstore, coffee bar and all, that has an impressive on-shelf collection. In a recent trip, I found all three books that I wanted (only one of which is "new") available for purchase. However, finding things is tough. There are terminals where you can search; it will tell you if the inventory is there and what section it's in--IF you can find the section. But wandering around looking for stuff is fun. I always see someone I know in there. Don't go often, but it's just plain fun when I do. They could use a few more benches for sitting, browsing and thinking about whether to purchase. read more

I like the store. I enjoy browsing there, and I do occasionally buy books there, although more often I'll try to get the books at a discount from online booksellers. It's also a good place to buy calendars and holiday cards. I don't see the negativity people have towards the new barnes.. or "updated" barnes. I personally love it ( even though i do miss the old one for nostalgia sake). But this one really is new and improved. 1- More seating room near cafe. 2- Outlets at almost every table -- which is such a bonus and much needed upgrade from old barnes. ( remember , hunger game style fighting over outlets near the art section? yup, no more) 3- Staff have been super pleasant- its nice to see the same ole faces in a new joint. Staff has come by to ask me if i needed anything, if they could move some of the books off my table. Its great. 4- Bathrooms were clean 5- They have more medical books, yay! 6- Childrens section is in the back and its bigger 7- More random leather seating throughout the store 8- If you dont like starbucks, theres a new corner store bakery located right beside barnes with yummy things to eat. 9- Its not as cold inside as the old barnes. Overall, its a much needed improvement to a nice bookstore. Im glad its still around. btw, obviously this review was about the physical location itself. This is probably the best B$N for storytime!! Today for 1pm storytime they have free choclate chip cookies and starbucks sample size vanilla machiato what?!!! I was blown away. I love this store! The atmosphere is cozy, the book selection is plentiful, and everything is easy to navigate. The café seems like a popular meeting spot for anyone from tutor and student to friends hanging out; I always see at least one person I know when I come here. I also like this store because it feels more homey than some other B&Ns I've been to, maybe because it has a lot of carpeting and wood instead of a modern style. Another bonus is that you can always walk into the rest of Marketfair to go to the movies, explore clothing stores, or simply stretch your legs. I do wish there were more sofas to sit on while reading, but I don't consider this a big issue; you can always find a comfortable spot at the café tables or, if you need silence, the floor. read more

Of course buying books at Barnes at Noble is a bad idea given online bookstores, but I like this store in particular because of the layout. There are a few outlets here and there, and more often than not I've been able to hook myself up to one. This is unlike other B&Ns which may have only one outlet (and that one happens to be by a window that deflects a glare on your monitor). This particular B&N also has a few armchairs-which is considerate because somethings are better read while you're curled up into a ball. Cafe is located in the middle of the store, so food is equally accessible to all-with deference to reading genre. It's also attached to a shopping strip (Victoria's Secret, Banana Republic, Gap, Eastern Mountains, Anthropoogie, to name a few), so if one gets tired of reading he/she can shop. The bathrooms also have hooks on the doors to place jacket/handbag, very important if you're downing copious amounts of tea. read more

The old store worked, the new store stinks. It doesn't have nearly enough study tables. Huge study groups would meet here, buy coffee, browse books and make purchases. I was shopping at Princeton Market Fair today and stopped into Barnes & Noble for some Birthday cards. Stopped by the first cashier station I saw near the cards but no one was there and there was no sign in front of the register that it wasn't operating. So then I walked all the way to the middle of the store to a Customer Service sign and was told they could not help me because they had no cash register. A very boisterous woman then told me I would have to go way across the store to the one register that was open. This is a large store and I was not going to make a hike for a third try. No wonder retail sales are off with no one to check you out. read more
