Barnes & Noble - Ilya and Shane. - Toy Stores Near Me - Holmdel, New Jersey

I went to the Starbucks in Barnes and Noble in Holmdel this morning and I felt like I should write this review. I was there when they opened April 24. I bought a cappuccino. After starting to drink it... I realized that this is the one of the worst cups of coffee I had ever attempted to consume. The barista had over over over frothed the milk and it literally tasted like butter. It was gross and not drinkable. I waited in line again and I said "this coffee isn't very good. May I please have a black iced coffee instead?" (This is the simplest easiest drink I could think of. I didn't want to trouble her.). She replies... "what's wrong with it?" Me... "it tastes like a stick of butter" Her..."it's supposed to taste that way. It's frothed milk." Me... "No it's not. I have made and drank many cappuccinos and they are not supposed to taste like a stick of butter. I literally can not drink this." Her... "whatever sir... they are supposed to taste like that...but if you want something else, I'll have to give to you a refund." Me... "the iced coffee and the cappuccino are the same price... does that matter?" Her..."sir. Don't be rude. I'm trying to help you." Then she mumbles under her breath... "I'm not dealing with this shit today." Me... "ma'am why are you being so rude? I can obviously hear you mumbling." Her...again..."I'm trying to help you sir. Go wait over there" Then... she mumbles under her breath more... Makes me an iced coffee with so much ice she can't even put the lid on... and basically throws it at me. I am a regular customer at Starbucks in Long Branch. I worked in food service for 2 decades and have owned restaurants. I am the most polite coffee customer imaginable and this woman was just an awful person to deal with in every way. The coffee was really bad too. I hope someone in charge there sees this and has a word with her. read more

This is a huge Barnes & Noble... I find that this time of year ( wintertime), certainly do a lot of reading. Staff is always friendly and very helpful. If you're can't find your author or genre just go to their customer service counter located in center of this B & N. Many benches around to sit and browse with a good book. They also seem to be having sales on older published books as soon as you enter. It's one level that has a cafe in the back. This store has been around for a very long time. If I had to guess, at least 20 plus years in this area of Holmdel. It's in a very large strip mall right off Route 35 on the far right as you enter. Happy reading. :) read more

I have a special place in my reading heart for B&N. I remember going to their flag-ship store in NYC as a kid during trips to visit the extended family up there and being awed by huge amount of books for sale. This was pre-Borders or Amazon and the local bookstore was the size of your parents garage. Heck the WWW wasn't even a glimmer in anyone's eye at the time . . . OK, I'll stop dating myself. This B&N is a decent size standalone building in the corner of a suburban strip-mall lot and does have a pretty good selection of current books, magazine, and even kids games (not sure if that's a Holiday thing only), though if you're looking for something older or out of the ordinary (i.e. early Haruki Murakami) they may have to special order. All of the employees that I interacted with were knowledgeable and friendly. Starbucks is in the house for all your shopping, snacking needs. read more

Nice Barnes and Nobles. Has a wide selection of books, gifts, literary media, etc. Big parking lot.

I like going to this B&N because it's located in a shopping plaza with nice restaurants and other stores like Best Buy, Modells, and Houlihan's. So if you get hungry after reading some books or mags, you can hop over to any of the nearby restaurants for a quick bite. This Barnes is just like any other Barnes that I've been to: comfortable chairs, Starbucks in the rear of the store, and a reading area for children. There's also an area which sells music CD's and DVD's. Staff is always willing to help, too. I used to come here alot when I was studying for school and for my board exam. I used it as my personal library, because instead of buying a dozen review books, I just sat in B&N for hours and hours, and took the practice exams there. My only complaint is that B&N took away alot of the tables/desks that used to be there. Now, if you need a table to put all your books on top of, you'll need to sit in Starbucks. Before, this place had desks scattered throughout the store for all the customers. And I remember they used to play classical music in the store. It made the store a nice, relaxing place to read.... and nap. If you need a B&N with plenty of tables, I'd recommend that you try the one in Menlo Park Mall. There's always HS and college students there in study groups PRETENDING to study..and it's awesome that Cheesecake Factory is only a couple steps away once you leave the bookstore. What better way to end a study date than to treat that special girl to some red velvet or godiva cheesecake! mmMmm... I know, I know. I like shopping in this mall as I go to a few other shops there and then I go across the highway to buy a salad at Chilli's. Sometimes I call ahead to see if the books I want are there and, if not, I order them and pick them up when they arrive. Everyone is so nice and helpful there...It's a pleasure to go there. read more

Overall, this bookstore has a big selection of books to find. This, along with the staff being as quick as a whip to know where a book or a certain section is makes Barnes and Nobel a great place to find a good book. read more

Nice one level B&N. Has the usual depts, including children's, audio/video, and cafe. Employees are friendly and cafe has a good number of seating. They hold children's events almost every week. Check the website for schedule. read more
