Expensive! Came here looking for Girl Scout merch. Looked around, the place is definitely much bigger than expected. I was able to find only one vest & the other was out of stock so I waited about a week for it to come in. This place is big on remote controlled cars. They have races that go on in one section of the store. Apparently it's a big deal. Who doesn't love a toy store, especially when the "toys" are for big kids in their 40's who love cars and trains. An extensive collection of Lionel rolling stock and the track necessary to expand your layout. Staff is helpful but doesn't hover making a quick browse extremely enjoyable. Definitely a gorgeous showcase of models trains in the front except their inventory is another thing. Very little inventory of model train cars, and train sets are a bit overpriced due to the holidays its seems. Lot of goodies for kids tho, but due to the lack of trains and the travel needed to get there, they can only get 3 outta 5 stars, Hope they add more inventory in the future and more brands aswell read more

Went here for the card shop so I can't speak too much about the rest of the shop but what I did see of it was good. Good selection, a lot of train stuff and friendly staff. The card shop was good. Owner was very nice and liked to talk about sports which I find nice. A lot of vintage cards in the cabinet and a lot if new wax on the shelf. Wax prices are pretty high but like I said the selection is really good. I broke the packs right there and the owner enjoyed being a part of it and we talked more about the cards I pulled. Nice guy, nice shop, but prices are a bit high for fresh packs. read more

Poor Customer Service and Rude Management Classic Bait and Switch - No Stock I confirmed over the phone with the one employee there of an item in stock. I drove over 30 min and when I arrived, he tried to sell me a different item which was more expensive and I couldn't afford. I asked to honor the difference in pricing ($10) being I was told they had he specific battery in stock, which they don't. The manager was sitting behind the counter listening with his feet up, and when the employee looked to him for approval, he said "well since you're making a big deal of it" Taken aback, at that point I simply dropped the items and walked out. The Hobby Shop in Aberdeen is somewhere I will never shop, for this attitude alone. Glad you guys are successful and well, but for some people $10 means a lot. Been coming for 10 years and today is the last time I step foot in that store. they decided to price gouge on pokemon products. 330 dollars for something that should be around 120. I decided to buy my nephew a nintendo switch instead of cards. So disappointed in this store. Those were outrageous online scalping prices and anyone who pays these are apart of the problem. Don't ever come here without checking YELP first because there's almost always an available coupon. That's first. Second, a little high priced, but it's a Small Business and I can't imagine what their rent is - I'm all about supporting the wee guys! They have a rewards program using your phone number which I'm always surprised (and appalled) that I have money off my purchases (because I think you have to spend a lot to get $10...I don't wanna know how much. They also own The Toy Box in Colts Neck. Loads of unique and fun gifts. It's always my favorite place to get birthday presents for children because they're always fun gifts and most importantly they wrap them so I don't have to. read more

Still a great family run store. The bathroom WAS out of order when I went and they always let me use it. So I guess it's not a pick and choose situation. Marie is an amazing manager who loves the customers and treats them like family and so does everyone else. Talk sports for hours with Bob and he will transport you into the stadium he is talking about and what is happening from that era. He talks with such passion and knowledge. read more

This place is my JAM. Well, it's really my little guy's jam, but then, he's the primary decision-maker in our household. He could spend hours playing at the train table, and I could spend hundreds of $$ on Thomas and Friends toys. They have everything here, and even though it's more expensive than, say, Toys R Us or Amazon, it feels good to support a local business. They have a fabulous loyalty program - just ask the cashier to sign up. We love this place and look forward to shopping here for many years to come. read more

Just had a birthday party here for my son. The party room is spacious and everything went smoothly. Staff was excellent. Each child got a copy of the group photo they took which was a nice touch. All the parents were raving about this place and how amazing it was! Looks small from the outside but is actually very large inside! With Toys R Us closing down, this is definitely going to be our go-to place to bring the kids for toys! read more

I've been a customer for a while and sadly will leave this negative Review and will not be returning anytime soon. I just recently spending about $600 in the last month on Lionel train products, We went today to buy my 5 year old some trains and track to add to our collection and he was very excited so we went and were there for about a half hour and my 5 year old had to use the bathroom he's perfectly good in a public bathroom and only had to do #1. Well asked politely and were told the bathroom was out of order! I had $160 worth of product in hand and was told i could go next door! I now had to make an exit quickly and I still purchased the product but informed them I would never come back due to this nonsense. It's a shame they decided to stick to this decision I asked 4 employees and all said "Out of order" Those days of picking and choosing who can or can't use a store bathroom are over and because of this decision they lost a great loyal customer who will now go elsewhere, it's disgusting to be honest. Ten employees and it's out of order? I was in retail and we never pulled that stunt! We were always grateful to have people in the store. I will now got to red bank hobby store on a regular basis. I heard that it's possible they own that store as well so if they do and I will check I will use Amazon! read more

Place is a rip-off staff hound you and follow you around like they are lost i mean come on i'm dressed nice pulled up in my Lamborghini for christ sakes. The rc guy don't know anything about anything unless you go with what he says or wants to sell real pos attitude the train guy is great the models and toys was nice but the rest are a nightmare. I found out from the train guy why everything is in a mess up roar since the father / owner died they had to sell cause they couldn't make it with out him. Since than the son and mother work now as workers not owners it is a shame nice place. But what i don't understand is why keep them if they was not able to run the place from the start unreal. I see this as a really nice shop but not lasting since prices are way to high and they keep the owner and her kid on to work after they pretty much ran down the shop the first. All i can say is i see this place going to be gone like alot of the rest very very bad poor management real shame. Very cool hobby shop located in a big strip mall on 34 in Aberdeen. was surprised at the size of the place when we walked in. It is much bigger than you would think. We weren't looking for anything in particular, just happened to be in the area and stopped in to check it out. Staff was helpful. They have pretty much all the hobby bases covered. Trains, models, new comics, cards, radio controlled cars, etc...... Definitely worth a stop, even if it is just to browse and check out the model train setrup. read more

This place is a hidden gem! From the outside the place looks outdated and run down, but once your inside you will find everything! They had toys I've never seen anywhere else! Much better than the big box stores as far as selection. From watching the trains to playing at the kids tables, my children didnt want to leave. Salesperson annoyed that it took us 2 days to get there after our call to check for parts. Sold us extra parts we didn't need (clearly included with another we bought). Most priced well over MSRP. ASked for 30W oil, sold me 55W. (never showed me parts, simply rung up and dropped in bag. Didn't discover until we got home.) Everything is being returned. read more

I've been a customer here for a long while since I was in scouting and they are still one of the go-to locations for everything boy and girl scouting in the area. The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable of all the products they carry. Regardless of your hobby, someone there will be able to help you out and give you assistance and the information you need to enjoy it. The store is huge and has expanded over the years. If you can't find something, ask! It's so big that often you might walk right past something without realizing because there are so many thing. The prices are fair, but the hobby-specific rewards programs as well as the general rewards program helps cut the cost for those who frequent the store. As a comic book collector, I find the selection of new releases here meets what I'm looking for and in recent months has been expanding with more independent titles and a large collection of graphic novels and TPB's. The team keeps on top of subscriptions and always takes suggestions and make special orders if you're looking for something they don't have. Which goes for every other department in the store as well. The also have a great calendar of events from trivia nights, board game nights, how-to events, and trading card tournaments. Whether you're looking for baseball cards, sports memorabilia, puzzles, model trains and accessories, scouting gear, comics, games, toys, or crafting supplies, I highly recommend the Hobby Shop. read more

I took my nitro rc to this shop and am very unsatisfied with the service. First of all I took my car there on a Monday and they had not worked on it all week until Saturday and that's because I called every two days to get status on the repair. It's a nitro rc how long can a repair take ? I took it in for a checkup on the spur gear since I replaced it my self but not sure if it was properly meshed and to get it tuned properly. First of all I get the car back worst than I took it in. Now im unable to fire it up at least it used to turn on even worse im unable to prime the engine. After going to pickup the car on the settled time and drivi g 30 min they tell me there is something else wrong! Really? I'm not the type of person who likes to bash on a business but I highly do not recommend this hobby shop at least for rc repair. Worst part of all I got charged like the vehicle was repaired. read more

Mike who helped me went above and beyond in showing us how to set up, and to fly. Rude workers! I was trying to browse around when I accidentally dropped a hook connecting the item i was picking up I was told to leave, and that i've been there "long enough"!
