I finally came here after seeing their amazing pasties on Instagram! We decided to do brunch and arrived after 11 AM, but it was already packed, so we had to wait about 20ish minutes for a table, since the place is not that spacious inside. From the outside, I love how they decorated it with hearts and flowers, which I think were for V-Day, and it had cute little benches for a great photo op or just waiting for your table. Continuing with the theme, as you enter, you're greeted with flowers on the ceiling. The first thing that caught my eye was the savory croissants! They all looked amazing, and I was already drooling. We sat down at our table, which was small and barely had space to fit everything once we ordered; you'll understand once you see the pictures. Our waitress was friendly as she greeted us. Looking over the menu, it was hard to choose since there were so many options and everything looked good. I got the iced mocha, which was ok. For food, we got the Big Waffle Brunch Platter and Nutella Pancakes with Ice Cream. It was a bit early for ice cream, but it went so well with the pancakes, which were thick and fluffy! I love how they have fresh fruits as well. The presentation was pretty too. I enjoyed everything, but couldn't finish it all since it was a lot. You can see the inspiration of Latin and French fusion in their food and bakery items. I have to go back to try their pasties and the other food dishes.

The place is small but so cute. The pastries were the stars of the show! Pick any croissant and you'll likely be pleased. I recommend the lemon or chocolate. The blueberry hibiscus iced tea was fine for me but hibiscus is bitter and blueberry isn't a sweet fruit! If you like sweet drinks go for something else. The iced mocha was okay and the pancakes were average. There's tables for parties of 4 in the back. There was a 40 min wait time (Sunday afternoon), so we waited for the call saying our table was ready.

I decided to come back on the weekday to see how the service and quality is. On this frigid Tuesday afternoon, the place was very quiet. Upon entry we were immediately greeted and seated. The waitresses brought our menu and immediately took our order for drink. We decided on cappuccino & rose water latte. Drive we knew we were taking croissants to go, we decided on a light lunch. Two BEC arepas. Within a short time, the food waswere brought to us. The arepa was light, bacon crispy but not burnt, egg soft & fluffy with cheese. Overall a very well made sandwich. I would say a little salt on eggs & arepas . Since the place was quiet and like a spring garden in a very cold day, we lingered a bit. Then ordered the croissant special 4 for $25.99 and an orange blossom dessert to go. Last time the lemon poor croissant was outstanding. Excited to try Dubai chocolate this time! It's becoming a fav place in NYC.

Unfortunately underwhelmed. The availability of several menu items were limited. Understandable for the pastries to be first come first serve, especially since they are getting popular from their recent boost in social media. But to not have champagne, wine, beer at 1:15pm on a Saturday, when you advertise these items on your menu is not a good experience. It's literally why my group choice this spot, for a full brunch experience. We got a handful of pastries that were available, and they were tasty. The mango tres Leche has an interesting texture. The passion fruit one was best. Recommend to visit during the week, and level set your expectations.

I had some extra time to check out brunch spot and my friend could not have picked a better place than Jhoanes Bakery and Coffee. Upon arrival, the restaurant was decked out in Christmas decorations and the interior showcased previous themes of the cafe. The aesthetics of the desserts matched the atmosphere as well and they looked so gourmet and delicious! My caramel macchiato was adorable with a flower foam and provided the instant caffeine fix I needed in a small cup. My other friend's lattes I've tried were cafe lattes with lavender, and their Mocha. Their mocha is very sweet, so I probably wouldn't suggest it if you don't like overly sweet coffee. Prosciutto Benedict Toast (4/5): I liked the strawberries with the prosciutto as the meat and cheese cubes were salty. My eggs were perfectly runny and the bechamel was perfectly creamy. So glad to have dined at Jhoanes bakery and coffee. They turn desserts and turn simple breakfast items into luxury! Although I regret diving into their desserts, I definitely think it is a must order as they are gorgeous! Especially the chocolate shell fruits mousse cakes that are all the rage right now. A gorgeous brunch spot in Astoria that is a must visit if you are looking for brunch in the area!

I was were last night with my friend for Galentine's dessert. I had the Pistachio Cappuccino and the Mushroom shaped berry & pistachio mousse. My friend had the Caramel Cappuccino and the Coffee Cup shaped Tiramisu. The staff were friendly and the ambiance was soo beautiful with the Valentine's Day decor! I loved it!

This place is pretty, lovely place to sit. The lighting is warm and inviting. Service was friendly and fast. The lattes were very good. I really like the rose latte. It wasn't to sweet or overpowering. Same with the mocha latte. The raspberry mousse dessert was okay. You can taste the raspberry flavor but it is light on taste(not a flavor bomb): a white chocolate casing stuffed with a light cream/mousse. It's not memorable but pretty to look at. I would come back to try the food.

Really impressed with the food and the reasonable price. We packed dessert to bring home. Delicious but they packed one with a broken heart it broke my son's heart .

Stopped in to pick up the "viral" fruit shaped pastries at my daughter's request. The place looks great and the display cases leave your mouth watering. Service was a bit hit and miss for me. There was a line and the woman ahead of me got her order but stopped to commiserate with the woman at the register. Seeing there was a line, I'd like to think the counter person would try and shut it down to keep the line moving but she continued the conversation, which I guess I get. Service with a smile but not when there's a line. I digress. I get the fruit shaped pastries, which looked amazingly delicious. I bought a raspberry, apple and mango (almost $40!). Raspberry was the star out of the three but I was underwhelmed. They lacked the flavor they looked to be packing. I felt it was missing so much more then how they were presented. These beautiful pastries looked like what I wanted in taste but I just didn't get it and it was a fail for me. My daughter felt the mango was the star over the others but she enjoyed them all and she was happy to finish them, too. They're filled with cream and fruit and there is a thin shell (white chocolate maybe?) surrounding it keeping the respectful fruit shapes. I took the plunge after she hyped it up. I don't think ill be getting them again. I will be back though as the other displays, especially the croissants, looked bangin'. I'd also love to try their savory dishes. If you come here, prepare to splurge a bit. It's not cheap. Cards accepted. There is seating, as well.

Man this place was phenomenal !! And it was so aesthetically pleasing. The desserts all looked to die for I couldn't decide which I wanted. My arepa was amazing and so was my latte. The service was good too! They were a packed house and they were very communicative and got us seated as soon as possible without a reservation. I will definitely be coming back.

I really thought I wrote my review already. Because it's been about 2 weeks since I've been there and Im still dreaming about going back. In fact I've already made a reservation for December LOL these were hands down some of the best stuff croissants I've ever had in fact I don't think I've ever had a stuffed croissant like that. And their fruit and their food and their service and their Ambience it was all absolutely wonderful. I cannot wait to go back for four people I'm surprised by the amount of stuff that we got how not expensive it was. This is definitely worth the treat and shareable everything was large enough and decadent enough to want to share. I will be back in December LOL

They have a table to pickup preorders so you don't have to wait in the main line. I ordered a dozen for $39. You can select your assortment. Here's my review in order from the best to the least desirable, according to our group. Vanilla custard- the filling was thick and speckled with vanilla beans. It wasn't too sweet. This was the best according to our group. Strawberry filled- this is most traditional and Breads Bakery does a nice job. The jam is homemade. Pistachio- this doughnut was filled with smooth pistachio cream and was topped with a few pieces of pistachio. Not traditional, but they did a good job. Chocolate- the filling tasted like a semisweet or bittersweet cream/custard. Like the others, it was smooth. The vanilla was more popular among our group and I personally didn't love this doughnut. Mango- this was the one that those in my group felt missed the mark. It wasn't cloyingly sweet, so that was good, but the filling didn't do anything for us either. If you're looking for a mango dessert the one at Lysée is a real winner.

When I moved to the UES, I was worried finding a new local roaster. I've had bad experiences where the beans are too oily or something is off that messes with my usually grind size/extraction time. No issues with Oslo's beans. 2. They actually know how to make a proper americano. Every coffee shop takes a standard cup, puts in the espresso shot, and then fills hot water to the brim of the cup. This destroys the flavor of the espresso. You end up with hot water that tastes slightly like coffee. Oslo chooses quality over quantity. They don't fill the water up to the brim, so you have a cup with 2/3 of liquid; however, this is a proper americano. You can taste the difference. At other shops, I just get drip coffee because they don't know what they're doing. Oslo knows what they're doing. That's why I come here.

We were a little late for our reservation, and they gave our table away, which was quite annoying. However, the service, hospitality, and food more than made up for it. Someone came over to apologize for the mix up and offered us complimentary white wine while we waited for another table to open up. The wine was delicious! When we were finally seated, we started with some drinks. I got the Speranza, and it was light, fresh, and delicious! We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary bread basket brought to the table, as it's a rarity in nyc these days. We split a burrata amongst the table. Loved the addition of figs. I ordered the rigatoni all'aragosta for my dish, which was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. There was a decent portion of lobster in the dish, and I couldn't even finish all of it, I was so full. One of the best pasta dishes I've had in a while. My friends ordered the bolognese and the fettuccine alla nerano, and they enjoyed their dishes as well! We skipped dessert this time, but I would definitely be back for it. I also want to try the paccheri next time, as well as their coffee shop in the mornings! Overall, a well executed restaurant with great ambience (would be great for a date night with the dim lighting and ability to hear each other speak). They just need to get a bigger dining room so they can seat more parties because they always seem to be booked full!

Unfortunately, it was totally bland and not large at all. The side sauce added nothing and over 30$ with tax/tip. For entrees, we shared the lobster pasta and the guazzetto di Pesci. The pasta was good. Reasonable amount of pasta but we would have liked some more chunks of lobster for the price. I thought the sauce was only ok but my girlfriend liked it. The guazzetto di Pesci was only fair. The sauce was lacking flavor. Also a very small bowl of broth with maybe 3 small shrimp and muscles, a few small chunks of fish. and two sad, tiny pieces of bread on the side. Since we were still quite hungry after the meal, we ordered the lotus chocolate caramel dessert. This was the only dish we really liked. kinda hard to mess up gelato though. It came with a hard outer candy shell and a very small cookie center that was sweet and delicious. Overall, an average meal at best that we both felt was lacking in taste and size. Won't return.
