I visited this Jet's Pizza location to redeem the 50% off offer presented on Detroit-Style Pizzas as part of Veterans Day for veterans and active-duty military. Out of the many restaurants participating, it was one offer I just could not pass up on Veterans Day. The location itself sits along W North Ave within Wicker Park. Oh, how I dread driving through Wicker Park neighborhood within the early afternoon to evening hours. I called prior to visiting this location, just to verify the offer which the employee confirmed in a respectful manner. Prior to choosing this Jet's, I did contact another location in the Logan Square neighborhood, but the presented offer was not as appealing to me. In spite of the location being located in a highly congested Wicker Park, the dining area was completely empty. If my evening was not filled with intriguing college football games to watch, plus the fact that I parked in a handicapped spot, I would have dined in. I know, I know shame on me for parking in a handicapped spot. Go on ahead and throw your rotten tomatoes at me, but I snagged that spot only because I was just picking up takeout. So, spare me please, hehe. To show proof of military service, I showed both my U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare enrollee id card along with my military id before end of active service in the military. I am sure that the employee would not have cared to see them, but I showed them both anyway as proof. He appeared very happy after noticing that I served in the U.S. Marine Corps, even stating that he will be going off to bootcamp in San Diego California soon. I likely would have conversed with him longer about it if there were not any other customers in line. You just cannot beat Jet's Pizza! "Mmmm..." As I took each bite of that squared cheese pizza, I had a smirk on my face, plus I could not help but dance! Oh, I love thou Jet's! Nothing but grease on my hand in-between taking each delicious bite of that squared cheese pizza. It has been a while since I have had Detroit-Style, and it is still my favorite style of pizza. Put this review on the wrong Jets but this location is my jam so I had to move it over! I've since had Jet's pizza a few times and I have to be honest, it totally grows on you! I think I love it. My friends were right! Damn. Lots of great pizzerias in Chicago obviously, but sometimes, late night, you're just craving that beautiful caramelized cheese crust and it's awesome. Detroit Style deep dish. First tried this pizza at a Birthday Party. I was hooked. It reminded me of Pizza Hut Deep Dish from the 90s with better sauce. I also remember one of my friends raving about the ranch. The night we had pizza...just no energy or ambition to cook. Had my husband pick this up on his way from the bars in Wicker. I ordered using the text message system. Believe in beta but worked okay. I didn't care as it scored me 20% off. Food was good. I made a side salad to make this meal semi-healthy or at least try to fake it. Pizza was good...Ranch sauce was worth all 100 pennies. I got the Pepperoni and Sausage. Would reorder this in a flash. I guess I didn't realize how expensive Jet's is compared to other pizza spots though! It's one of my besties favorite spots when she's back home in Chicago so I order it for her. But....One Thin Cheese Pizza. One order of Breadsticks, and two Pizzas with toppings ran me $96 and none of the pizzas seemed bigger than a medium. Jet's is flame - wherever you get it. Their specialty pizzas, in particular the bbq chicken or the buffalo chicken pizza are my favorite - and you better ask somebody about their ranch dressing. I did mess up once and get the wrong pizza aka their round pizza. Definitely a nono/party foul. I wouldn't call jets underrated because it's well known how good this pizza is but being in Chicago it gets overlooked and shouldn't. My favorite place on earth. I will say sometimes they charge you extra for sauce and sometimes they charge you accurately, for delivery. But for pick up they are consistent and get it right. And then sometimes the food is crispier and sometimes its more undercooked and cheesier, it all depends. No major problems though but maybe tell them how you eant it prepared if you are picky. I love Jet's Pizza, and will have nothing negative to say about their food. But I do want to comment on their delivery service: I placed a delivery online for 7pm one evening, then I get a call at 6:30pm saying they were outside my door. I usually won't complain about food arriving early, but I knew I would not be home at 6:30 (hence why I did not put the delivery time for 6:30). The delivery guy sounded confused, as what to do since I wasn't home.. so he said he would bring it back to the shop and I can call when I'm ready for the pizza. So I called when I was home and thankfully the employee I talked to was understanding and apologetic. They said they'll make a new pizza and deliver it asap. Ordered tonight and I don't know what angel dropped down to this earth to make this specific pizza, but holy moly it might be my favorite pizza I've ever had. Flowers would not do. I wanted to send her a pizza. I asked the gentleman that answered the phone if there was anyway he could put the pepperonis in a heart. He was hesitant not because he didn't want to do it, but because he was skeptical of the execution. I'm not reviewing the food, just the customer service. I gave this location 3 tries before finally giving up on them. The first time I came, it was after a huge rains storm. I walked in only to step in a puddle of water (about 2 inches deep). Apparently the store got flooded since it's in the basement and they weren't making any food at the moment. No problem, I understood but I wish they put a sign at the door before stepping into water. The second time was OK, but they took a long time to get my order. They said 15 minutes when it actually took 45. The final time, I placed my order and they said 20 minutes. In those 20 minutes, I saw about 3 parties get disappointed. The first group was a mom and her two kids. She asked if they sell slices of pizza and Gustavo said yeah. He then proceeds to charge her $34 not mentioning that he's charging for 2 whole pizzas not slices. The mom was mad but said it's fine and she'll take it. The person behind here said she had a pick up order. The guy gives her the pizza. She then says that she's missing another pizza. They go back and forth until the guy said fine, I'll make the pizza. It'll be 20 minutes. The lady didn't want to wait as that's the whole point of pick up. They asked for their money back. Finally, the guy behind her was also picking up. They made him the wrong order so they had to remake it. He was probably there for 30 minutes. Oh, they said 20 minutes for me right? Actually took 40. read more

This isn't really a review for this specific location or their service because it was fine and they were helpful as I had to call and order on the phone like the olden days in order to use my coupon. This is basically an excuse for me to ask a question in a public forum instead of muttering it to myself all of the time, but how THE FUCK is this pizza so expensive?? I don't have any hang ups about fast food pizza. In fact, I'd love to try pizza from every fast food chain I possibly could. Do I think fast food pizza is as good as regular human pizza? I was excited to try Jet's once I moved to an area that carried it because "You gotta try Jets" has been a thing people have said to me for a while. I looked at the prices and figured it was a deal like Pizza Hut, Dominos etc where you are a fucking idiot if you order stuff for menu price and just have to order whatever promotion they have going on at the time. For most fast food pizza chains, those promotions are constant and abundant. Not Jets! I patiently waited for some sort of coupon to pop up and eventually got one for buy one get one free. Due to the regularly expensive prices I started to get the feeling that maybe Jets was like a 5 Guys or something where it was fast-food-but-not-really because it's a little better quality but that wasn't it either! Without the coupon it would have been $40 and change for two SMALL pizzas that are no better than Pizza Hut or whatever your preferred fast food chain is. You can get regular pizza for that much money. In fact, Paulie Gees is cheaper so you can get actual fancy date night pizza for less so what the fuck is the point of this place? Does Jet's solely exist for people who only eat at fast food chain restaurants? Who falls for the Jets trap more than once? Is there a secret, more modestly priced menu I don't know about? Friends have told me about Michigan style pizza and I was curious at first and am now in love with it. This is my go to place when I'm crazing quick delicious pizza. It comes fairly quickly and always hot. We get the 8 corner pizza with pepperoni and jalapeños every time and are never disappointed. Sorry Jets, I love your pizza but I can no longer be a customer. This location is very poorly run, they always spam the neighborhood with mailers, and I would be cool with that, but they never work online. The employees never know what you are talking about when you inevitably have to call because their codes never work. I think it would be a great idea for your employees to be aware of the promos their store is running. About two weeks ago was my last straw. I called and asked if they were still running the $10.99 special for a large pizza on Monday, the women on the phone told me no, I asked if there were any specials for large pizzas and she again told me no, I said thanks and hung up. My wife made me call back and order at full price since she really wanted Jets. When I arrived at the store, I was rung up for the pizza, almost $20 and guess what? They hand me a flyer for the $10.99 special. A $9 difference is a pretty substantial price. I told the cashier I specifically asked for this special or any others and was told no. He said that it was for online only, why couldn't they have told me to order it online? At first they refused to refund the difference but finally begrudgingly did so after I said I didn't want the pizza and asked for a full refund. This store needs to get their act together. Wings and turbo sticks are a must !!!!! Pizza taste fresh they have different styles to choose from, not to mention I got to flavor my crust for free... Great variety of ingredients. Ranch is also a must very delicious very creamy ! All dressings as I've been informed are made in store everyday, along with freshly chopped toppings. Just got back from dinner- Jet's was so good! It was it. Delicious, piping hot za. Mmmmmm. Could be I was very hungry, in a great mood to begin with, and also going in with low expectations based on these other Yelp reviews.... However I had a top-notch experience at Jet's in Wicker Park. Also let it be known this was my first time trying Detroit style pie of any sort. And I LOVE pizza, all kinds, esp deep dish, and I love Greek food too :) My husband and I had a pleasant walk to the greasy diner dive atmosphere, felt so right on a summer night. It feels like an undiscovered treasure. Loved the simple ambience. We split a garden salad which was fresh, crunchy, chock full of olives, very tasty. Came out pretty much right away while we waited for our pizza. Then we split a cheese 4 corners- so good!! Gooey cheese, well seasoned sauce, and the crust!!!! The crust was flaky/crunchy like a Greek pastry, with just a bit of caramelized cheese a la Pequods (the gold standard of pies as all Chicagoans know). It was love at first bite for Jet's, for me and my husband both! Yum yum. The manager was also waking around chatting to all customers, asking how we liked it, if everything was going well--- excellent service and you can tell this lil spot is going to blow up! Jet's Pizza on North Avenue is awesome! This is probably the best tasting pizza I've ever had, and the crust is so good.
