3 Star - Hostess 3 Star - Wait time 3 Star - Service & Ambiance 4 Star - Food 3 Star - Plating & presentation of the dishes 2 Star - Price _______________ 18/30 = 60% = 3 Star Location: A bit in a rough part of San Jose with the view of Communication Hills from Behind. Ambience: Outdoor and indoor seating available. Has the feel as if you just crossed to Tijuana and eating at a local Peruvian restaurant. Food: Ordered Lomo and Bistek served with a side of rice, egg and fries. Just enough seasoning where it doesn't taste too salty. Meat and rice was well portioned. Enough for a grown man to say they are full. Definitely not your normal taco and burrito joint. Most dishes are plated and served by waitress's who don't speak much English. So be prepared to speak in some Spanish. Price: A bit on the pricey side of $21 to $23 before tax and tip. And yea they take Apple Pay.

Demasiado pequeño el pollo ni siquiera llena ese lado del plato, y la porcion de papas que me dieron para llevar parece media porcion, es la ultima vez que compararé ahí , es un robo para 41 dolares , mejor compro otra comida y me lleno más!

Halfway through eating the rice and found a dead roach in my food! Disgusting and a waste of $27 for lomo saltado. Will never eat here again!

Can someone tell me if I order this correctly. I thought it was suppose to be shrimps, but why is it fish ?

Probably the most expensive meals I ever pay for, and it's not even fulfilling. Should've listen to yelps reviewers. Lol never again, the only thing that's good here is the chickens and I will come back for that, and nothing else.

This place is certainly an odd one! It's tucked away near Oak Hill Cemetery off of Monterrey and Southside, and the plaza it hides in is a seedy one. The gas station it faces welcomes loitering hobos, so the general cleanliness of the facade leaves a lot to be desired. The small dining room feels like someone rented out their kitchen. The waitress/cashier is a friendly woman who offered us a choice between a Peruvian or a Mexican menu. She spoke ZERO english; i had to rely on my restaurant spanglish and my attempts to conjugate latin roots similar to french (which I can semi-speak) in order to communicate. AWKWARD! The lomo saltado and the ceviche mixto were recommended by a friend's friend, so we ordered that. Complimentary chips and salsa were promptly delivered to us, but I found it peculiar how these were store-bought chips. A little on the old side, so it gave my jaw a serious workout. The ceviche was cold and spicy - as expected - but I was turned off by the use of imitation crab. For those of you that don't know, imitation crab is made up of a less-appetizing, cheap fish colored with a red streak. Anyways, it was filled with that stuff, so we quickly grew tired of it. Central and South American food walk hand-in-hand, so I did enjoy the plaintains, the refried beans, and the rice of the lomo saltado. The dish itself is steak slices sauteed with fries, onions, tomatoes, and soy sauce. Fries in my sauteed food??? The starchiness worked with the soy sauce, actually, and my friend and I actually finished this one. Maybe I'm overly enthusiastic about trying different cuisines, but this place is not worth going to again.

Girls are always nice and friendly. We accidentally got charged for dessert and she corrected it immediately. My go to is the Lomo Saltado the meat is tender with the green spicy sauce is a game changer! Of course I want more meat (who doesn't!? haha) but portion is pretty reasonable for the price. My wife typically orders the Arroz con Mariscos which is a heafty portion with a very creamy/rich flavor. We usually add some lemon which elevates the flavor! We also order the ceviche trio & the pulpo appetizer both are great dishes just wish there was more pulpo. Nevertheless we will remain regulars at Inka's. We just love the food it's always comforting and delicious!

Everything we ordered was really good, and they made all the dishes mild for us, which we appreciated. The ribeye was cooked perfectly medium rare and full of flavor. The tallarin verde pasta was a standout, the sauce was smooth, rich, and just right. The ceviche was fresh and light with a nice sour kick, and the tostadas paired perfectly with it. What really stood out was the service. We accidentally showed our server a dish from a different restaurant, and instead of saying no, he said they could make it. They followed through and it came out great. That kind of effort is rare. Good food, great service, no misses. Overall, it was a great experience. This place clearly cares, and I'll definitely be back to try more.

The vibe here is very down to earth so don't expect a fine-dining setup, but do expect a welcoming atmosphere with very reasonable prices. After checking photos on Yelp, we noticed the portions looked generous, so the three of us shared two main courses: Arroz con Mariscos + Ceviche de Pescado: The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the rice was packed with flavor. A must-order! Cordero a la Norteña (Lamb Stew): The seasoning was spot on and very authentic. My only minor critique is that the lamb could have been braised a bit longer; the meat was slightly tough. Overall, we were very satisfied with both the service and the quality of the food. We'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu!

We have eaten here many times, but the quality of the food has really suffered since our last meal. We have always loved the octopus starters here. It was originally served with avocado and then became a "causa" (a Peruvian layered potato dish), but the octopus was always very tender and flavorful. This time it was almost inedible -- tough and chewy. It seemed like the formerly excellent European octopus was subbed with local raw octopus, and precooked with no knowledge of how to prepare this ingredient. The arroz con mariscos contained more of the same badly prepared octopus, and very overcooked squid -- also tough and rubbery. The texture of the rice was not as it had been in the past either. It really seems that a change in the kitchen has lost their way. We may try once again in the future to see if it was just a badly off night, but I'm not hopeful.

Milohas (mil hojas) means a thousand layers in Spanish, and one taste of Milohas' pastries will make you understand why they picked that moniker. The Good: * Large shared parking lot * Friendly service * Covered outdoor dining * The crust of the empanadas was buttery, flaky, and delicious. All the fillings were good, but you have to try the Hawaiian filling! It was truly fantastic and had us wishing that's all we'd ordered. * Guava Finger has the same perfect crust and tasty guava jam--I could eat a dozen of these and come back for more. *oink oink* * Carissa really enjoyed their lentil soup. I didn't try it, so I can't comment. The Meh: * I kind of prefer the chunks of meat in Peruvian empanadas to the ground meat in Colombian ones, but that's just a personal preference. It was still delicious, so at the end of the day, it's all academic. The Ugly: * No indoor dining, and outdoor dining is limited to only a handful of seats. I wanted to get some desert items but they seemed to have very few things to choose from. I would have asked questions but inside the store was strangely loud and the woman who helped me was a low talker so I couldn't understand anything she was saying to me as it was. The empanadas are pretty large, as are the prices. $17 for the two. At this price point I was glad I decided not to buy more. Each comes with a tiny side of aji green sauce. They could have been more generous here. I found the spinach to be very salty and more breading than filling. The chicken one was a letdown. Chicken was lacking any flavor. For both the pastry was dry. Was only able to eat half of each and threw the rest away. Not really the kind of place you dine in for. You order at the counter and there is limited seating inside (in a way that makes you not want to dine in), and a few seats outside. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. This visit and subsequent review makes me feel sad. I want to support these unique, independent eateries but they make it difficult when the quality doesn't meet the high cost. Improvements would be to reevaluate their recipes, make the pastries less dry and dense, and maybe don't be so skimpy on the fillings.

It's like an unobtainable quest but whenever I have the chance to fill that empty void, I do so by randomly sampling. So what makes a good empanada? To me, I look for a buttery and flaky outer shell. This should not be overly oily or dense. The dough ratio should not overpower the filling and the empanada should be able to hold the stuffed contents well. I personally gravitate towards savory fillings which should be moist but not soggy. Best Artisan Empanadas menu offers a long list of drinks ranging from espresso, teas, lattes, frappes, smoothies, and alcoholic drinks. The empanadas come in savory and sweet options. As a quick snack and first attempt of trying out BAE, my sister and I made the purchase of: *Mango Tropical Shaker *Chicken & Mushroom Empanada *Traditional Beef Empanada *Argentinian Chimichurry Sauce The empanadas are amazing when it comes to the dough standpoint. Bae has the recipe down to a T and will make even the toughest eater a fan! The chicken and mushroom empanada was exceptionally delicious- creamy, flavorful, and very tasty. I would have easily grabbed another if we didn't already have plans for our next bite. The traditional beef empanada was good but the raisins totally threw me off. The plump, overly sweet raisins weren't a good combo with the salty olives according to my tastebuds. Again, this was still very doable but I made sure to remove each raisin I came across. The mango tropical shaker was okay, just a little too sweet for me. 5/5 stars for BAE's empanadas. I eagerly look forward to trying the panzerotto [pizza], chorizo, and assorted breakfast empanadas.
