Everytime I visit from SoCal, this restaurant is a major stopping point for me. No other restaurant in SoCal has the best ceviche and tostada that compares to this one. I usually order about 4 tostada each time and finish it all. In the picture, I bought tostadas with fish and octopus . It was raining the day I went, but I am so glad that this place offers a sit-down in an enclosed area to enjoy the food. La Costa used to be one of my go-to growing up in SJ. Skip the burritos. Burritos are nothing like how they used to be. Burritos were soggy, lacked structure, and low-key skimpy. No flavor at all! I recommend getting the ceviche or cocktails here. And taking it to-go since the tables are dirty. read more

I was upset when I got my Aguachiles because the way they make them here is not my style at all, the shrimp is not cook in lemon. I send my husband to nicely show them my food and honestly I wasn't going to keep eating it. A nice men came out from the kitchen and offer us another one but with cook shrimp, he give us different options and I think that's very nice of him In making sure we happy with our food. I was not convinced at first but I say yes. Just because of this reason I'm giving them a better start rate. My food was better and I got a tostada mix and it was good too. Mariscos la Costa is a small place with outdoor dining only. So what do you do if it cold like today you either bundle up or take it to go. To go was our choice for today considering the weather. Service is pretty good here every time i have been here. Today the line was long and the place was pretty busy. The line went fast and got our food in a reasonable amount of time. this place was one of my go-to's a while back for their fish tacos so i was so disappointed coming back recently and seeing they no longer offer these! it used to be cash only but they are now with the times so you can pay with card everything is priced really well and portions are a decent size. there's only outdoor seating and they prepare the food quite quickly. huge parking lot as well! read more

Have been to the Alum Rock first and last time I ate at La Costa; this is a short review for a first the Seven Trees location. By Monterey Road, Teriyaki dude, Lee's sandwiches and a gas station! Got a carne asada quesadilla and it came with radish, cabbage, sour cream a slice of lemon, not this dry slice, no juice they serve at some taquerias. Overall, I felt like this quesadilla was ok, the meat was hot and kinda soft, tender with no crisp or char. Cheese was ok too. Not too bad. My friend got two pollo asado tacos and she didn't think much of it, I thought that the meat was boiled and not grilled. Ok. I got a bite, and I thought it was boring bland, not much of an ingredient kick. Overall, I would like to try some shrimp tostada next time I go to the Seven Trees library! Enso forever. We went to this place on a Friday night and there was relatively little wait. It's located near the center of a small plaza. The seating is all outdoors and in the open-air, os no indoor seating. After our order was placed, we got our food relatively quickly. One thing to note is that this place is CASH ONLY. We ordered a Burrito De Carne with Chicken. There were other meat options to choose from and even a vegetarian option for burritos and other items in the menu. The portion size was huge and given the size, the price was definitely worth it (~$8). The burrito was very juicy overall and not at all dry, it had a generous amount of sour cream and veggies. The extra sauce it came with was not very spicy and while I found the burrito flavorful, it was not as spicy as I'd hoped and pretty mild overall. Overall, definitely enjoyed eating here and will be back again to try something else on the menu! read more

The only downside is this place is CASH ONLY :( Wonderful customer service and delish food. They have tables outside and everything is kept super clean. My burrito was a little wet and saucy on the inside, while my partners was nice and drive with all the ingredients even though we ordered the same burrito. That's my only con. The meat was really good and savory! It was all soft, and not chewy or hard. I also ordered some fish tacos and my tip would be to air out the package so they don't get soggy if you order it to go. Yep, it's Tuesday. Mariscos La Costa is a little spot in the Marina supermarket plaza serving up some shrimp and other seafood, plus your typical lineup of meat tacos. It's a small wonder that I haven't come here before considering that I've been to nearby restaurants as a kid, and I did see some familiar faces from high school attached to rave reviews on the Yelp listing. Thus, I decided on this place for Taco Tuesday. Even though they don't have specials, their prices are reasonable enough at $2.10 per taco. I thought that I was going to hit the lunch rush, but pulling up to the shack just off Senter Road, I was glad to find just a small group by the window. They don't have a salsa bar at all, and there's a mild salsa which we were able to take to-go, but at least there's a roof over your head in the outdoor seating area and the food comes out quick. The beef tacos are the star here. Cabeza was the winner, and it's some of the best head meat I've had bar-none. Fatty bits and beefy flavor will really satisfy your carnivorous cravings. The Lengua (tongue) was also packed with flavor, and the Asada had that charred aspect and a nice light marinade. The pork tacos were no slouch either. The Al Pastor isn't the Tijuanan pineapple variety, but it's delicious anyway. I also appreciated the giant portion of Carnitas, even if they didn't really pop or have much fat. The Chile Verde was also fairly bland, so I would avoid that. I also ended up with a bit of a faux pas in trying to delve into the seafood section of the menu. The Tostada Mixta ($7.25) was certainly loaded with seafood, but much of it was actually surimi, the fake crab meat made from fish protein. At least it's protein though, right? The whole shrimp and octopus chunks were certainly more enjoyable. I didn't love the ceviche treatment as much as I ever have though, and it really could've used some creaminess and/or another sauce to balance out the dish instead of just the sides of Tapatio and ketchup. I'd certainly come back to Mariscos La Costa any day of the week for some of the tacos. They're some of the best which I've had in my slow but gradual exploration of San Jose taquerias. If you're in the area, stop by and be sure to bring cash. read more

I feel like I'm really missing something because people seem to love this place but I just didn't have a similar experience. The tortillas for my shrimp tacos were definitely not made in house and the shrimp tacos were just bland and kind of sad. I also ordered an horchata and it was not good, it tasted like they added a little rice milk, sugar, and cinnamon to some tap water. Wow! I was a bit hesitant to try this place as it looked a bit chainy but the reviews were good so I gave them a try. My wife and I had a feast for not a lot of money and a steady flow of folks kept pouring in as we grazed. I saw a plate of tacos come out for the person in front of me and I was sold. I had carnitas and carne asada tacos. They were served street style with onions, cilantro, and salsa. A pile of yummy grilled onions (liked cooked in lime juice) and some roasted serrano chiles adorned the plate making it the perfect meal. My wife got the coctel de camarones or "shrimp cocktail". It actually had pulpo or octopus in it as well and it was outstanding. The simple tomato broth was tasty but the shrimp and more surprisingly the octopus was super tender. I don't think I have ever had octopus this tender, ever. I'm usually no where near this neighborhood but this was so good it was worth a trip back. Give them a try! read more

Off the beaten path a bit - but totally worth it. Delicious tacos and drinks - the menu is enormous but everything in it looks delicious. We got some complimentary soup as well which was great because it was quite cold outside. I ended up going with Al Pastor tacos and they were delicious. My partner got an assortment of tacos and said they were all great. All of the service staff were really accommodating and nice.
