Chicken shwarma plate
Vanita W.

This was our first time to this restaurant, and it was amazing. Cozy hole-in-the-wall place with very tasty kebab & shwarma. The server was hard to understand, but it was a minor detraction. We each ordered 2 chicken Shwarma plates, which came with warm pita bread, 4 different sauces, rice, salad and hummus. The owner, upon realizing it was our first visit, treated us to a complimentary dessert ( oh so yummy). And we left with a bit of food for later. Will definitely come back.

Lamb shank special (weekends only). Hummus, Arabic salad and rice.

The wife and I stopped here for Sunday Date Day for the first time. Great experience and great food! I eat a 90% meat diet and they were more than happy to switch it up, add another meat option (for upcharge of course) and keep the pita/rice and hummus. The food was great!.. I got the 3 Shish combination plate (1 of each) and it was very flavorful and cooked well. Nice crisp on the lamb shish and the other meats were spiced different enough to tell them apart. The seasoning on the chicken reminded me of growing up and having souvlaki at Festival in Grand Rapids, MI. Wife had the lamb shank special and really enjoyed it. I tried a bite of the shank and it was amazing. VERY tender...a perfectly braised shank! Sauces were good. Green had a little heat and was very jalapeno forward, the red had more of a Buffalo Wing vibe (maybe a mix of harissa?) and the tzatziki was very fresh... looser than I am used to but it was nice. Although I didn't have the pitas like the wife did, they are Illinois made in Skokie at Libanais, always a plus. Being 2 miles from home, we are sure to swing in again. Heck, it might be a common change from our normal Jimmy Johns lunch.

Just relaxing whilst getting my Shawarma sandwiches.

Always spectacular food and service here. I'm a Mediterranean food junkie and this place hits the spot. Great Shawarma, good prices, and the service is always kind and quick. My favorite place to eat in Peoria for sure.

This place is our new favorite in the area. The food was absolutely wonderful. The falafel here is the best I've had, Stateside and abroad. Awesome, friendly service. Great international food and local vibe!

Excellent! My parents and I went while we were in town and we were NOT disappointed! The food was incredible, the atmosphere was inviting, and the people were so amazing! Service was very quick too! The hummus was SO DELICIOUS!!! We would definitely come again!!

When driving across the country, your lunch stop should be a great break and something you should look forward to. Well, when I realized Peoria, Illinois was half way between my starting and end point, and that one of the top places to eat was a shwarma restaurant, this lunch stop was all that I was looking for. Unfortunately, my visit did not live up to the hype. When I walked in, I was greeted by a passing by server and took my seat. The dining room was small, but that was quite alright as only two other tables were occupied. I grabbed a menu and waited for my server to return to me. I, of course, wanted to get the best option for food, and upon asking the server what he recommended between two entrees, he barely talked to me and offered little to no assistance. After I ordered my food, I asked for water and was surprised that they don't offer water for free and only offer bottled water for purchase. Between the lack of friendly service and the lack of water in this day and age, I was already beginning to feel less than welcome. I got my food (little did I know this would also be the last time I'd see my waiter) and began eating. I noticed that while I was eating, the waiter would check on the other customers who definitely seemed like regulars but never returned to check on me. The food itself was good but not great. I will say the value of the meal was nice, and I did feel like quantity wise, I got my money's worth. I ordered the beef shwarma, which included a small salad, rice, and hummus. The hummus was a tasty compliment to thr meal but the presentation of the pita bread was a little baffling as I was served it in yhe original wrapper (a wrapper like how you'd find a pa k of pita from the grocery store). Aside from that, the meal was good. I waited to be brought a check and quickly realized I wasn't going to see my waiter again and finally got up and paid at the counter, not realizing that this was where you pay. Again, my waiter, at least letting me know where to pay, would've been nice. My experience here left me dissappinted and not feeling quite welcome. Though the taste was ok, I was left thinking about where else I could've gone for lunch on the second half of my cross-country trip. Though it's always good to value your regulars, you shouldn't make other customers feel awkward and unwelcome. I also believe that not offering water is a very cheap thing to do.

A good local spot and family run business. The falafel was very good and the chicken shawarma was also very good. There are few tables in the restaurant. Overall a decent place.

I'm glad we chose this place to have dinner about a good 2 weeks ago. Seems like there are 2 players when choosing Mediterranean food in Peoria. We chose a great one! It seems like it's a father and son duo running this restaurant and they couldn't have been nicer and accommodating to my requests especially on the sauces side. The food was made to order and was very tasty as a take out option. In the next room, there's a dining room but we were exhausted so we just had it to go. I ordered the Combination plate of Beef, Chicken and Lamb. It came with a side salad, rice and some hummus. The plate offering was filling and very good! The ironic thing is the place they get their Pitas from is a literally a mile from where we live in Chicago. Only one less star because these guys went about their business maskless. I'd def come back here If we ever had to roll through Peoria again!

I was driving back from Indiana and I was looking for something to eat. I searched and this restaurant popped up. I decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint. I. Loved. My. Mea. !!. If you are craving Mediterranean food, look no further than this restaurant. The food was fresh, the bread was warm, the rice was very well done and flavorful, the meat was very well balanced and if I lived closer I would there all day everyday. If I drive by, I will definitely know where to stop and make it a point to stop.

Ask the Community - Jerusalem Restaurant

Do they have any vegetarian option or chef customization for veg?

This place has several veggie options between falafel, salads, and dips. The staff is also very accommodating and pleasant! I'm sure they'd make your food with modifications if need be.

She recommended the Cuban Pulled Pork Sandwich. My sandwich was huge and contained a large portion of pulled pork meat. It was delicious and the homemade chipotle bbq mayo made it all the more satisfying with its rich smoky flavor! The Cuban-style black beans were right out of Miami! Very nicely prepared and included green peas, carrots, corn, and bell peppers, as well. My dining companion, for her part, ordered the Falafel platter, with a side order of gyro meat. The falafel (a dozen), were fresh, tasty, and just the right consistency. These were served with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pita, and hummus. The side order of gyro meat featured a generous portion of decadently succulent lamb shavings and included two portions of homemade tzatziki sauce. Everything we ate was prepared to perfection and could easily compete with exceptional restaurants in Chicago! Yes, the food at One World is that good. As for the service, our waitress Quincy was friendly and professional. As for the ambiance and decor--we arrived ahead of the lunch crowd, so it was pretty quiet. The decor, however, is nicely done. The premises were clean and well maintained. Ditto the restrooms. The restaurant is actually huge. There are multiple dining areas and in the summer there is an outside patio behind the restaurant, as well. As for pricing and affordability--quality costs, and the food here is definitely a cut above. That being said, the owners have priced the entrees quite reasonably considering the generous portion-size and quality of the food. My overall opinion? If you want a dining experience worthy of comparison to the best Chicagoland has to offer, but don't want to make the long drive--or pay twice as much--then I highly recommend this little gem of a locally-owned restaurant in Peoria!
