Chicken Tender Kabob Entree
Savannah H.

Very good! Review context: Ordered delivery, live about 2.5miles away/15 min away during the time it was delivered. This was our very first time ordering from this restaurant. What we ordered: Chicken kebab dinner that came served over yellow seasoned rice What we thought: Delicious!! Final Rating: 9/10 -- the only thing that would make this 10/10 is a fresh lettuce salad with a drizzle of evoo instead of cooked veg. It would make it feel a lot fresher and add texture. Otherwise, AMAZING!

Good food! I came here on a Saturday night for dinner; Jerusalem Cafe is nestled on a busy street in downtown Oak Park where you can find street parking (and a super cheap parking garage nearby which is where we parked). Inside is a very humble, down-to-earth vibe with seating dispersed throughout the restaurant. There were lotsss of takeout orders and people coming & going. We opted to dine-in with our meals. The employee who took our order was very friendly and helpful! She answered all our questions. We got the chicken shawarma and chicken tender entrees, which came with rice, veggies, pita, and a small thing of hummus. If you want sauces it's 65 cents each (I got the white garlic sauce and their spicy green sauce). The meal was good; it wasn't anything out of this world but it was definitely yummy nonetheless. I wish the sauces came with the entrees. My sister got the lentil soup too; it wasn't the greatest. I think their fattoush salad would be a better addition to the entrees instead of the veggies since it's a bit more authentic that way. This was the first mediterranean place I've been to that served veggies instead of some sort of Arabic or fattoush salad on the side with their entrees - it was still good, I'm just used to having salad instead and think it fits a bit better! Overall I had a good experience here at Jerusalem Cafe.

Berry Sensation Smoothie! Fabulous!

Thank you, Jerusalem Cafe and UberEats. I'm home sick with Covid and all I wanted was a fresh fruit smoothie. My son ordered the combo platter plus a sandwich for tomorrow and he's thrilled too. Quick delivery. Fabulous smoothie. So fresh and cold, like arrived still icey cold! I think I'll order another for dinner.

The food was delicious. A lot of rice. It came with a very small container of hummus which I wish would be a little more. It also came with pita bread.

Lunch special platter

I got the lunch special combo platter and it was OK. The chicken and rice were by far the tastiest. You go to the counter to order & it was pretty quick. Medium sized space with tables & chairs.

Chicken Shawarma Sandwich

Food was freshly made...Falafel were good with the garlic sauce. I couldn't really tell the difference in the shawarma and chicken tender sandwich because the flavor was the same to me! The food was great either way!

Horrible service. Please don't try and order delivery. 50/50 chance food showing up. Food is average.

Love this spot especially when I don't feel like making tabouli salad -- one of my FAVORITE DISHES.

Parked in front at 7:15 and walked in - was pretty dead on a Saturday. Sat at a table in the front windows and ordered a coffee and an apple juice. Waiter was very nice - decor reminded me of a Cracker Barrel style - and with a small bar it's obvious they do more than just breakfast like their name implies. Ordered a breakfast burrito which comes with skillet potatoes. I liked the flavor of those. The burrito was great - egg, chorizo, avocado, and cheese. We split pancakes as well which were good and came with berries and cream. Really liked it here - the locations are 10-20min away from central CHI but the drive is worth it.

I tried the turkey BLT with a side salad. I appreciated that the salad was not the typical basic side salad as it had fruit, cheese, etc. the dressing was very tangy. The sandwich was a decent size and came with a spicy mayo which added a a twist to the typical turkey BLT. I wanted more crispy bacon than it provided. The cost was typical for Chicago, but felt a little high as the bill was $26 with tip and I drank water.

It was so hot and fresh and perfect. I also met the owner Nasser and he was awesome. I love this little gem in Jefferson Park neighborhood. I hope they expand to more locations in the city. It is a casual somewhat "fast food" style restaurant where you order at the counter. I came before dinner time so the place was relatively empty. I ordered the Combo Plate #2 which included grilled lamb kabab, beef kofta and chicken kabab. The combo came with a Jerusalem salad, house salad which was essentially a cucumber salad, pita bread and rice. Overall, the flavors were generally all there. The only issue I had was with the preparation of the chicken and lamb. The chicken was overcooked and dry. It is as if they had cooked the chicken kabab and was refiring it on the grill to order. The beef kofta was fairly tender and flavorful, but the lamb kabab seemed to lack the distinct gamey lamb flavor that questions the quality of the meat. The combo plate is a hearty portion so you certainly won't go away hungry. Overall, for the area, Falafel Dream should satisfy any Meditereanean food craving. I haven't specifically tried their falafel, but I would be cautious if they are made beforehand rather than made to order. If you have ever had authentic Middle Eastern food, this doesn't really quite hit the bar. It may cater more to the American taste preference. Service was average. Prices were reasonable. Parking is very limited.
