Let me start by saying that parking can be a bit of a challenge, but I was here early enough before the lunch rush so that parking wasn't an issue. I would say that that would probably not be the case if I came about a half hour later. The ambiance here is about what you would expect from a Jersey Mike's Subs. It is bright and inviting enough, but definitely a no-frills type ambiance. My go-to at Jersey Mike's Subs is an Italian for a cold sub and the Big Kahuna for their hot sub. Both are good and I would recommend either. Jersey Mike's Subs are my favorite of the national sub chains. Something that I think is a huge plus is that Jersey Mike's Subs are pretty consistent at any of their locations. That says a lot to the training Jersey Mike's Subs offers to its franchisees. Two years. It's been two years since I dare step foot back in this particular Jersey Mikes, my previous two visits gave me EVERY reason not to even try again, but, small town, convenience, blah blah blah. So I made the choice to try again. I'm glad I did. I NEVER had a problem with their food, it's a solid chain with solid specs to assure your food is consistent, now, the service, therein lies the rub. My last two visits (years apart) were, to say the least, sorely lacking in the service department and i will leave it there. Let's talk about this visit. I walked in, the place looked like it had been refurbished, renovated, it was neat and clean but even more so, I was greeted with smiles, "welcome to jersey mikes" AJ and Dre were friendly, chatty, efficient AF! Call me crazy but if I didn't know better I would think they actually LIKED their work, their job, it was refreshing and dramatically different from my last visits. They explained it was an all new crew and management and it was quite obvious these cats love what they do. The Big Kahuna was just as I remembered it, hot, cheesy and with those jalapeños just kicking!! Great job, good food, I came back the next day to make sure it wasn't. Won't be back-went to tie my shoe lace on corner of a metal chair - General Patton made a bee-line for me and told me to get my shoe out of the chair! Firstly my foot wasn't in the seat of the chair and I was tripping over my lace-what a weirdo! Food here is very good but the service is terrible. I was the only one on the restaurant with 4 people working behind the counter but I waited almost 20 minutes to get my sandwich. They sliced the meat then proceeded to have a conversation with my half made sandwich just sitting there. Going the wrong direction. Walked in again today to see if they had worked on any of the challenges I faced on my last visit. As I walked in, again, there was no greeting, I mean how hard is that, a simple greeting? As I walked to the back to wash my hands, I noticed one customer in line, no one helping him, and a huddle of employees in the back. I also noticed that the same crew from my last visit was there, same manager, same dirty shirt, still untucked and just sloppy. I washed my hands and returned to the counter. Same customer in line, no one around to help, I asked if they had taken his order and he said no, he hadn't even been acknowledged. I decided there were far batter places for me to spend my money today and walked out. As I started to drive off I saw the other gentleman with whom I was in line was also walking out. Sad but true. So in the comments from my last visit, a manager from Jerseys Mike's had left a number to call, so I did. Alas, just More corporate rhetoric. They don't care, they simply do not care. They sit directly beside campus so they know they will have business. Were this place in a more competitive location, they would fail miserably. They lack even the most basic concept of customer service -in the service in the service industry? Employees are poorly trained and, quite frankly, dirty. That's the image they portray here. Great subs! I'm a vegetarian so I order the veggie and I always get it "Mike's Way" which is with onion, tomato, lettuce, oil, vinegar, & their blend of salt, pepper, and other spices. I also add in pickles and mayo. I ask them to grill the green bell peppers all the time for me because it adds a bit of a warm element to an otherwise cold sub. It's great if you go on Monday for double points or Tuesday which I believe they give $2 off. read more

Of all the chain sub shops, Jersey Mike's is my favorite. Their version of an Italian sub (#13) complete with spicy red pepper spread ("hots"), puts Subway's, Jimmy John's, and Lenny's to shame. Their cheese steaks and chicken cheese steaks, especially the Big Kahuna (#56 stuffed with mushrooms, peppers and jalapeños) are delicious. On this particular visit to the campus adjacent facility I opted for the Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak (#44). Frank's Red Hot sauce, lettuce and blue cheese dressing topped the chicken. It was a buffalo wing on a roll, and hit the spot. Pepsi products are on draft, so if you're a Coca-Cola person you may want to get your sandwich to go. This is one for the record books. Just left the Jersey Mike's store on Market St., in Tallahassee. I waited in line, alone, for almost 10-minutes before my order was taken. Ordered only to be informed they were out of white bread. That happens, so I ordered an alternate. I paid, had a seat and waited and waited. After another 10+ minutes, inquired about my sandwich. Found out it wasn't ordered to the cook. Without an apology, the cashier, the one that I ordered the sandwich from, asked for my receipt of which he hadn't provided to me to begin with. He did though, remember what I'd ordered. He asked to cook about the order, she had no clue and he was baffled. Said something about if I wanted a wrap! I asked for my money back; he asked for the receipt!! Another 4-5 minutes of him on the phone asking about how to access the cash register and finally, gave me back my $11. Chicken Philly Steak Hot Sub where have you been all my life?!?!? Lunch hour Rush is killer here and found me waiting over 20 minutes for a hot sub. Believe it or not, it was my first time so I didn't know what I was getting myself into. A little pricey for a combo, almost $10, with standard fare chips and soft drinks you find in most chain sandwich places. Clean but crowded. A fridge offers a path less traveled for drinks but nothing exciting, some bottled alternatives to the soda machine. The hot sub was delicious though (and the reason for my 4 stars). Packed with crisp bacon, overflowing cheese, and smoky peppers and onions with a moist grilled chicken. Yum! Plus- I really liked that there was an alternative to the traditional steak option and found that it hits the spot when craving more a more savory lunch. read more

I am gluten free, and no matter the amount of people in line, the employees take the time to wipe down the counter and slicer for me. I'm not expecting a whole lot from a sandwich shop. Decent food at a reasonable price is all I ask. This is apparently too much to ask from Jersey Mikes. There are a few things that I am looking for in a good sandwich. Good bread, flavorful meat, and fresh toppings. The bread wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good either. The meat and cheese had no flavor at all. I had a turkey and provolone "Mike's Way" which means it comes with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, vinegar, oil and spices. I also had them add some cherry pepper relish. The cherry pepper relish is the single reason I'm not giving this place one star. The ordering system isn't very efficient. You queue up and order your sandwich, at which point they slice your meat and bread. Rather than keep you in the line while they assemble your order they have you pay. At which point telling the person behind the counter how you want your sandwich becomes a little difficult because you are either past the register or behind the line. Parking is almost nonexistent. We got there at 11:30 AM and there was one spot available. By the time we were leaving at 12:10, there were four cars circling the parking lot and some douche had parked his jacked up Chevy Diesel on the grassy space between the parking lot and the street. All in all, there are plenty of other places I'd rather spend 10 bucks on a sandwich in Tallahassee, but none have cherry pepper relish. I am sure I wasted a perfectly good snooki reference in here somewhere, but it's not even worth the attempt at mediocre humor. read more

Between this place and the Chipotle next door, the parking lot is usually packed so full you'll see cars parked on the medians. I thought this was unusual behavior until I ordered my sub, and the guy commented on it by saying that yea, they usually encourage people to just park up on the grass because they usually get people in and out quick. I guess they don't tow? Either way the sub was really good, the bread which they bake on site is really fluffy and warm. The ingredients seemed to reflect the relatively high cost of the sandwich (I got a 6~ inch Philly cheese steak for 7 dollars), but it was pretty damn good. I guess that's always subjective, though, so you'll have to decide if the ingredients are good enough to merit your dollar. Also, they do this thing where you enter your phone number into a box every time you order, and it'll send you a text letting you know how many sandwiches you've bought. Once you hit a certain amount of purchases, you can get free sandwich, but I could see how this system might be annoying for people without unlimited texting plans. Because of the price, you wouldn't want to go to Jersey Mike's if you just want to grab a quick sandwich on the way to work - but definitely a nicer place to eat at than say Jimmy Johns or Subway if you instead wanted to get a really casual & quick dinner with some friends. read more

Had the Original Italian (ham, turkey, prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, capicuollo and provolone in large amounts), watched them slice the meat and cheese right before my eyes (as the sandwich gods intended!) and had it loaded up with my choice of fresh toppings and plenty of red pepper relish and oil and vinegar. Now that, friends, is a freakin' sandwich... Puts that Jared guy's joint to shame! As for people complaining about the price? Well, for the amount of freshly sliced meat and cheese you get, I don't see what the whining's all about. Maybe you all should've just gone to Mickey D's for McMeatSlurry Nuggets.
