This place is really a local gem. I hadn't been here in a while and decided to stop by. I need to start eating healthier so I'm glad that I did. On this visit I had the Philly cheese steak, which is one of my favorites. The bread was so fluffy and soft. The mushrooms and cheese were good as well. I got I fully loaded with peppers and onions. The Bark has a fun and bright atmosphere. I had their philly cheese steak sandwich with provolone which was delicious. I've never had a vegetarian sandwich as tasty as this one. The young man who took our orders was very friendly and accommodating when we asked him to lower the volume of their music. I'm not a vegetarian but I would come again to try a different sandwich. My little family and I love to frequent The Bark for brunch ever so often on the weekend. On this particular weekend I had the special which was a savory puffed pastry that was out of this world! Amazing venue that has a great staff. After checking it with some friends, we asked for good vegan/vegetarian eateries and multiple people named this place. Word of mouth does wonders so we bring our appetites right over. The day was kind of hot so we opted in eating in doors but there were a few tables outside if you wanted to tan while you eat. This place is a whole chill vibe and I love it. After some recommendations from employees and others inline we order at the front and take a seat. Looked around at people's plates as me made our way to our seats and everything looking amazing. Like EVERYTHING looked good. The BLT, Banh Mi, Chimichurri Sammy, Red Hot Chili Pepper Sammy, Southern Fried Chicken Sammy, Sloppy Jose - everything. When our food came we split are sandwiches so that everyone could try it - and we loved it all. There needs to be a sampler options. The only off thing that we noticed - and only because we were beyond full and we deciding if we wanted to take home left overs or completely stuff our faces and come back again later - a few places were chipped. Amazing. Oh my heavens. I love you the bark. Great food and great shows. The community is amazing I feel at home as soon as I walk into this establishment, as cheesy as that sounds! Every time I go in I know I will be served by an amazing homosexual that sprinkles their love and care into everything they prepare for me. It is an unmatched emotion. This place was amazing! Me and my partner Went for the Vegan Banh Mi, the shroom burger and a side of Vegan Mac and Cheese and let me just say that all of them slapped! I live near Little Saigon in Orange County, CA so I know my Banh Mi. My Partner that's not vegan enjoyed her burger as well! I really don't mind coming back here. The inside was decorated really well and there was also a stage. It looks like a fun spot. We decided to sit outside on the patio. We went on a Late Tuesday morning so there was barely any people, the service, however was still great. The prices don't break the bank either. All the food only cost about $28. read more

This is a dive bar by the railroad tracks, which is coincidentally vegan. They have a pretty good menu of gastropub type food, and I was happy to have a choice of two different veggie burgers, neither one apparently mass-produced or soy-based. I chose the beet one because those always look kind of cool. It was rice and lentil-based as well, and the quality of the bun and the flavor of the fixins was quite splendid. The fries were fine, but in retrospect they had more interesting sides that maybe I should have tried instead. An Arnold Palmer (with house lemonade and multiple tea options) was refreshing. I am always a bit miffed when I am asked to tip at a place and then asked to bus my own table; things weren't especially well taken care of. The Mac and cheese was really good on its own. It reminded me of the one I make at home using coconut milk. Would definitely get again. The chicken tenders were okay. Reminded me do the chickenless tenders from Trader Joe's but bigger. More than likely soy based. Food was okay. I got the black bean burger and the Mrs ordered the Banh mi. I'm a huge Banh Mi fan, but let her get it so I could try something else. The Banh Mi was good, but drenched in a sauce that really overpowered it. My burger was good, better than my wife's meal. The fries were delicious. Most of the time the food here is pretty decent. Yeah the vegetables might be wilted, yeah the service might be hit or miss, but overall for a dive bar they usually serve pretty good vegan food. This last visit however was pitiful. Ordered my food ahead of time and waited a bit after I got there. The cashier was rude to me but thats pretty typical for me if its not one of the nicer cashiers that I see regularly. I ordered two tofu bahn mi sandwiches. I took both sandwiches out, and they absolutely REEKED of cigarettes. Before I even unwrapped them! Both of the sandwiches had an overwhelming cigarette odor all over them and were inedible. I've smoked cigarettes. I've ordered from restauraunts with people that I know chain-smoke but I never experienced something like this before. Its clear that employees aren't washing their hands between cigarette breaks which is extremely unsanitary. The place is pretty dirty as-is but I was hoping they at least washed their hands or used gloves regularly but I guess they don't. I've forgiven the bark for a few mistakes in the past like bugs and unwarranted rudeness but this pretty much made me cut them out of my rotation. I love this place. I've been quite a few times and I've never had a bad meal. Also been to a couple shows here and the atmosphere is great. Service is always good and friendly. I love the regular menu and brunch menu and they have a great Bloody Mary. I usually like to try their specials and have never been disappointed. In an effort to try more vegan eats I was more than pleasantly surprised when my sister found and recommended this place. It's not in the best area and the parking is tight, but considering that many are still scared of the Rona and staying home, I didn't have to worry about it being crowded or getting boxed in. The artwork isn't anything that will make you "ooh & ahh" in amazement, but it adds a certain level of quirky charm to this place that reminds me of my younger days as a freshman in college. You can tell that whoever was behind the decoration was just expressing themselves, unconcerned with how it was going to be perceived or judged, and that is to be admired. They definitely have that young, rebellious counter-culture spirit going on, punctuated by their inclusion of gender neutral bathrooms if you're into that sort of thing. The menu was way larger and more creative than I was expecting. I had the banh mih sandwich, and I don't know what an authentic banh mih tastes like but if this is any indication then I'll definitely be trying it at the next Vietnamese restaurant I visit. At first bite I felt that it needed more sauce, but the more sandwich I ate, the less I felt. The baguette was so wonderfully soft, which was welcomed since the tofu was so crunchy. Honestly if they had put more sauce it would've more than likely compromised the integrity of the sandwich; the pickled vegetables weren't soggy at all and they added the perfect amount of freshness to the sandwich, as the bread, as much as I loved it, was very thick and could've easily over powered the dressings. I added a side of tofu strips, which I expected to be panko crusted and pan fried, instead turning out to be just deep fried tofu. Don't get me wrong though, they were still pretty tasty (as you can see, I was so busy eating them I almost forgot to snap a picture). I again initially felt that it needed more sauce, but by the time I finished it my ego had been humbled into believing that the chefs at "The Bark" know what they're doing. Just enough sauce (it's a teriyaki style sauce, pretty safe but yummy choice) to give it flavor and maintain the texture of the strips. Also had some regular fries, and while they were cold by the time I got around to eating them, I could tell they're delicious when fresh from the fryer. I tried some of my sister's kale side, I'm not a fan of kale so I didn't like it but if you do then I'm sure you'll enjoy that. I also had their banana nut bread pudding; I'm glad I tried it but I wouldn't order it again. Because banana bread isn't true bread, this bread pudding didn't have the firmer texture I'm accustomed to in a bread pudding. The flavor was very yummy perfectly seasoned, but the texture was just too soft for my liking. So in conclusion, if you're looking to get into vegan/vegetarian eating or even just want a cheap eat that tastes like the chef's actually care what they're feeding you, give "The Bark" a visit. The food is good enough to feed your dog and anyone else you care about. read more

When I asked our friend, who works as a Florida State professor, where we should eat for lunch, she suggested only four restaurants. Thankfully, we decided on The Bark. (Woof woof!) Whether vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, or omnivore, this hipster cafe offers tasty eats. What did I get? I sunk my teeth into their Sausage Papillion ($8.50) ***insert inappropriate joke here***. In addition to a thick AF sausage, it came with sauteed peppers and onions, vegan mayo, and came on a baguette. I also tried their French Toast, which was provided on their Special Menu, and they tasted wonderfully buttery. Regarding their service, no problems there. I also dig the eclectic vibe inside. Surprised at how flavorful the banmi was, was not expecting it! Loved everything about the sandwich from the bread to the filling and sauces. I asked to do ranch instead of mayo because I wanted to try their vegan ranch. But the garlic kale was way too salty. Just recommend cutting back on the salt for that one! Honestly, with incredible flavors like this, The Bark stands out to me as one of the best restaurants in Tallahassee. It's just an added plus that they can make dishes like they do while also staying vegan! Coming in recently with a large group, we got all of our orders in at the counter in a (fairly) organized manner and then made our way to our seats. Even with the large group, the staff were all incredibly welcoming and happy to see us. I ordered the stars n' stripes grit cakes with tofu scramble, while my fiance went with the blueberry pancake special. The grit cakes were delicious, certainly, but those blueberry pancakes were out of this world! So glad I can to try at least a small bite of them! Everything about the stars n' stripes plate was well made, cooked fresh and without leaving anything dry, and then finished off with the sweet touch of a slice of watermelon. Stopped by this place after a beer at fermentation lounge for dinner on a Friday night. There's an interesting vibe to this place, and it feels a little like a basement (no windows), but there are cute murals on the walls. It was pretty busy, but we were able to order at the counter pretty quickly. Food came out after about 15 minutes and was delicious (and vegan!). I am a meat lover, but the tofu was marinated so well on the Banh Mi, that I didn't even notice it was meatless. My friend got the buffalo tofu sandwich and liked it.
