Of course,it was toasted on both sides of the bread. In addition, there was very light butter on both sides. Absolutely delicious. Yesterday, I checked my order & found the bread was toasted only on 1 side and untoasted on the other. So I sent it back to the kitchen. It came back missing the butter on both sides. I asked for the manager, a relatively young guy, tall, skinny. He claimed that the diner never made toast like that. What am I? In Alice in Wonderland? I've been getting it for years. So I sent it back to the kitchen for the 3rd time. This time it came back slathered in huge gobs of butter, melting all over the eggs. Now, I had mentioned that I can't have massive amounts of butter because I have a gallbladder condition. So I sent it back for the 4th time. This time, the manager came back with the take out plate piled high with all the pieces of toast I had rejected. It was a huge mess. The manager kept saying he was trying to help me. Help me how? Land me up in the hospital with a gallbladder attack? The next thing I knew was that he was sounding like he was going to throw me out of the diner. I took the toast that remained and threw it in the garbage (actually, the manager took most of it and threw it in the garbage.) Of course, by the time I got home, the food was stone cold. I know we are all under a lot of stress lately. Gas prices have been the last straw. But professionals are supposed to contain their emotions when dealing with customers. I have read some of the other posts. It seems there are quite a few unhappy customers. I don't want to sever my longstanding relationship with the Palace Diner over what amounts to a food fight over toast. It's really sad.

We stopped here on the way to the airport and were immediately amazed with the customer service. John and Brady were phenomenal. We ordered the small Italian club with Chicken cutlet and the Vittorio. We also got a large Muffaletta with the olive salad on the side, pesto chips, mixed pickled veggies salad and a cannoli. We wanted to change since we were going to the airport so we had to use the restroom. That's where we encountered John. He is such a lovely man. He was so sweet and I enjoyed our conversation. My sister was throughly impressed with Brady's customer service. He made her feel at home and was very friendly. All of our food was good. They devoured the veggie salad on the car ride to the airport and we ate some of the sandwiches too. The portions are big and you can share. The 3 sandwiches we got were plenty for our family of 6 plus leftovers. Rossi Rosticceria Deli 45 S Clover St Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 (Review 50 in 2025 and 893 overall)

It is located on a back street with not much activity, and I was able to find parking quickly, which is key when you are on a work break. As soon as I walked in, the smells and sights of an authentic Italian deli were exactly what you hope for. There is a menu with plenty to choose from and a pastry case that I already know I will be coming back to try next time. I went with the Blue Ribbon panini, and in about ten minutes I had a hefty sandwich wrapped and ready to go. When I sat down to eat and picked it up, it did not disappoint. Chicken cutlet, ham, honey mustard, roasted tomatoes, Swiss cheese, and great bread. Everything blended together perfectly. On the first bite, the chicken cutlet burned my mouth in the best way possible. The tomatoes and honey mustard tied it all together and made it incredibly satisfying. I could only eat half because it was such a heavy sandwich. My dad finished the other half and shared the same appreciation for a really good panini. The next time I am working nearby, I know exactly where I am going, and I will definitely be trying the cannoli and the black and white cookies. 5 out of 5 stars.

We did 2 each, which was probably over-doing it, but the flavors were solid. Between the grandma's slice, the white pizza, chicken bacon ranch, and the veggie, there was plenty of variety. Is this the best pizza I've ever had? No. Does it get the job done? Yes and then some. A caveat is that because we did by-the-slice at around 2pm, nothing was super fresh. We particularly enjoyed chatting with the owner. He mentioned how he'd started in the Bronx and moved out here for a slower pace of life. Great guy, super engaging if you take the time to initiate the conversation. Shared a bit about his background too. There are a few tables inside, but I'd imagine that during the school year over lunch it gets pretty busy. Will have to try carryout some time.

Don't judge a book by its cover here - the joint appears old and outdated, like a pizza shop from the 80's, and I love it. The ambiance gives off that friendly neighborhood feel. I got a meat slice (odd name), had pepperoni and meatball. Sooooooo delicious. Crust was perfectly crispy, a vibrant sauce, and a generous portion of toppings. I work pretty close to here, and I have a suspicion I will be on a 1st name basis with the staff before long. Jump on in and give then a shot - you'll be happy you did! *note : parking can be a bit crazy, so keep your head on a swivel when pulling in/out. With Marist and DCC close by there are a lot of young inexperienced drivers in a rush.
