as I walked in, I could tell they were getting slammed for lunch time. I preordered a catering order less than an hour or two prior and was at the location a couple minutes prior to my pick up order. The staff was doing everything they can to keep every customer satisfied with their order. unfortunately, they were out of regular bread and offered accommodations for this. Marcos, the manager, came out and apologized for the mishap which was only due to more than usual customers. The staff has remained steady and focused through the rush and still kept the same friendly attitude! I cannot be more happy with my experience at this Jersey Mikes and hope everyone can be considerate to how hard all the staff is working during these lunch/dinner time rushes. read more

The first time i went in to pick up an order and stood in the pick up area for about 10 minutes and no one even looked at me. i finally ended up getting in line and waiting another 5 minutes and then someone finally helped me. I'm really split on this one. There are definitely positives, like the fact that they cook the meat for the sandwich fresh unlike Subway. The employees were very friendly. But for me, it's too much bread. Even though I could sit down and eat half a loaf of crusty bread all by myself, I don't like an excess of bread on my sandwiches. I actually prefer the bread at Subway because it allows for a better filling to bread ratio. I also thought the prices were a bit high. $13 for the large sub is double the price of a foot long at Subway. The steak and cheese was good. I didn't like that the peppers were pickled, I expect straight up plain grilled peppers. Steak and cheese isn't something I would ever order at Subway, so it was a nice treat. But for $13 (plus extra for chips and drinks) you could go to a sit down restaurant and get a better sandwich. And even with us splitting it, I still couldn't see the value of going there over Subway, especially if you ordered just a regular cold cut sub. I ordered a yummy sandwich online. A few minutes after I arrived there was a medical situation with an employee. There was also only 2 people working, including the person with the medical situation. I was very pleased with how the other employee handled the situation. She did her best to make sure all online orders were made. However, I wish management was better there.. more than 2 people should be working or the store should be closed. The young girl making the rest of the orders was way too stressed to be working. I feel for her and am thankful how kind she was in such a terrible situation to be in. I've had average to great experiences at other Jersey Mikes, but this one was very bad. I was next in line for nearly ten minutes before anyone acknowledged me. I ordered two sandwiches and went to wait with my wife at a table. 20 minutes later, I was told my order was ready. We were never asked about what veggies or condiments we wanted on our sandwiches. I didn't bother to ask for any changes, because we didn't feel like waiting for another 30 minutes. "Memories of Wildwood" I was a kid on vacation with my family in Wildwood, New Jersey when I first heard the word "Hoagie" used instead of the word "sandwich". I found it to be a funny word, "hoagie". The pictures of the Jersey shore and surfboards hung up in the restaurant reminded me of all the great times we had in Wildwood on the beaches, waterslides, and the boardwalk. Tender thinly sliced steak with grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms, jalapenos, and melted american cheese on a soft cheddar rosemary roll. Would give no stars if I could I always get lunch there a sandwich and a (large cookie $2.85). They never EVER put my cookie in the bag. Over time that adds up. They either give me a small or no cookie at all. They don't know how to read a order slip which is pretty pathetic. I would start to go back in and let them know they forget and to grab me one but you order pick up because you have a life and need to be in and out quickly, you should be able to rely on the fact that they know how to read. Dry meat. Not enough meat. "Extra Kahuna standard cheese" was 3 crappy slices and veg were slimy. First- JM's was my FAV sammy shop outa state. My hopes and expectations were high finding that we now had a branch in CT. Ventured the 30 min to S Broad with a smile. Left with a frown. Walked in at 5:45p, prime dinner slot ya know. There was 1 person in line. Ordered the Phili Cheese Big Kahuna because it has extra cheese, perfect for two and it's usually sooo juicy. Buuuut NO! The cheesesteak lacked meat across the large bun. My boyfriend's side had about 5 bites of steak. My side was all jalapeños and shrooms. So the cook didn't think before they scooped. Plus, the meat was OLD & DRY. mushrooms were slimy and the extra cheese was literally 3 slices. While we ate there contemplating the difference between Meriden JM's and those outa CT, one other couple came in. Thats 5 people at a rush dinner hour on a Th. Just ordered a couple of grinders in person. First of all I'm a big fan of Jersey Mikes just not this location. I almost walked out because the prep area was disgusting, the grill looked like it hadn't been cleaned at all, the cutting board was littered with leftovers from previous grinders. The grinders themselves also left a lot to be desired, skimpy portions to say the least. On top of that they were only accepting cash which fortunately I had. Everyone has off days. I keep this in mind when I go anywhere. A single bad experience won't put me off of going to any restaurant. But after two, three, and in this case, four visits I can say that the staff are completely checked out. I understand that minimum wage jobs are awful. I remember working them. Maybe if the pay was better, maybe if the employees were trained more on customer service it might be a better experience.. Maybe the current staff just don't care, maybe there's a culture of apathy here at this location. I don't know what is causing it but it's abysmal. Every time I go to this location it takes a minimum of 15 minutes to get food. In the space between ordering and getting your food you won't get any updates on the food's status which can be strange as you will often not see your food getting made until 8, 9, or 10 minutes into your wait. So there's no communication which is lackluster. The last time I went here I waited for a bit over 10 minutes and the people who came in after me received their food. I then asked about the status of my order and somehow the staff didn't have the ticket for it, or it was just lost in the shuffle. Again, mistakes happen, I get that. The employee who seemed to be in charge at that time at least was on top of it and prioritized my food being made. But the people making the food were not paying any attention and made my food wrong. Which again, taken by itself wouldn't be a big deal. The issue here is that there is an pattern of sloppiness, carelessness, apathy, and overall lack of any sort of reasonable degree of service. I think it's a shame. I like the food, I just haven't had a single good experience at this location. I would be open to speaking to someone about the staff members I have had issues with, but I don't want to post specifics here. I would like to at least be able to provide more specific feedback. TL;DR: No customer service, careless mistakes are constant, there is a strong overall impression that most of the staff couldn't care less. read more

I walked in to order and immediately saw the grill person with their mask below their nose. I mentioned it to the Assistant Mgr who, rather than empathizing at all with me, defended the worker and added that even her mask falls, especially when she talks. Well, the griller was not talking and needed to pull his mask up. When I then went to the manager, he defended all the workers. No attempt to understand my point of view. They claimed they were the only establishment that actually wore masks. WHAT!? I got my money back and left. The staff here is very weird. read more

Broad Street location in Meriden Ct is the WORST Jersey Mike location I have ever been to. Two weeks in a row this particular location has run out of bread. There was no sign on the door letting customers know, there is no bread. Today they ran out of lettuce. There is a Big Y grocery store in the same plaza as Jersey Mike's. There is no way that four staff is on duty and no one came up with an idea to find a way to get bread or lettuce. I stood in line for 10 minutes while two other staff walked around saying nothing. no one greets you when you walk in the door. Most of the staff don't want to be there and it shows on the face. You have to constantly ask the workers to change their gloves, health violations 101. No one is wearing a hair net or hair tied back while preparing the food. The station and glass needs to be cleaned. last but not least their was a heavy set white guy slicing the meat who argued with me on how I show place my order. Instead of arguing he should wear the correct size gloves, the correct size pants instead of pulling them up ever sec. and listen to the customers order. Also, no one wears a name tag.. I will contact corporate office regarding his aggressive behavior And the health department first thing Monday morning. read more

Came here for lunch and ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich. The sub was filled with lots of meat so it kept me full for the rest of the day. Most importantly it was freshly made to order. Ordered two sandwiches at 10:00 am this morning for pick up at 12:30. We left on our 30 minute lunch break to the location that is 5 minutes up the road to find our sandwiches we're not ready yet. We didn't mind waiting however the employees kept telling us our sandwiches were "ready" or "finishing cooking". We wasted our whole 30 minute lunch and then some for our sandwiches to never be ready. They cook was very rude and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. We are under the impression when you offer the feature to order online and select a time for that said order to be ready, the store would honor that. I didn't realize that Jersey Mikes had come to Connecticut. I travel to Georgia for work so I've been to the one there and it's pretty good. Well, it's a chain sandwich place but certainly better than many peers (Subway, I'm talking to you!). My favorite is the Baja Chicken wrap which is pretty good. I had the Chicken Philly and that was decent too. Overall it seems fresher and better than many chain sandwich places. It's a little slower than some because they have a grill and sandwiches seem custom made. The one in Meriden is in a strip mall next to a gym and there's generally plenty of parking. Prices are on the higher end for chain sandwich places but hey, you get what you pay for. If you're in the area and are looking for something different give this place a shot. read more

Was really disappointed. Not in service but in food and quality of food. It's one step away from Subway. I got an Italian combo and unless that's not there thing quite frankly it sucked. Leaves a weird after taste from vinegar on it. I heard a lot of hype on this place but will not be going back. Diabella Subs, Firehouse and your local deli are much better then Jersey Mike's IMO. Also I want to point out the sign to this particular one is small. Was not easy to see in this large large plaza with at least 10-20 stores. read more

I have never been to Jersey Mikes before and went in a few weeks back for a quick lunch. I ordered a chicken ceaser wrap, and a sub for my husband to go. Both the wrap and the sandwich were packed, very good portions for the price. The bathroom (women's) was clean but could have used a mop on the floors as they were a little sticky. The staff was friendly and they offered me a "Shores Reward" for every 10 subs you get 1 free. I think it is a great idea that they offer you to leave a tip, however it being included as the first question after you swipe your debit/credit card is a little obnoxious....just my opinion. Let me start by mentioning that this is simply another fast food deli like Subway or DiBellas, and in some ways they are better, but in other ways fall short. To compare a place like Jersey Mike's to "mom and pop" delis wouldn't be fair. Although I will say the staff has been friendly and talkative each time I've gone. I've been to this location three times since they opened and have had two cold subs and one hot sub. I'm convinced that when it comes to Jersey Mike's, cold subs are the way to go. The meats are sliced as you order and they put a decent amount on the sub, especially when compared to Subway, which by the way should not even be a place you consider with all of the great options CT has to offer. They don't seem to offer as many toppings as other competitors, but there's enough of a variety to make a good sub. The "Mike's Way" dressing, which seems like a seasoned oil and vinegar mix, adds a nice touch to the sub. I've only had the one hot sub, but feel like this is where they fall short. The amount of meat in the sub appears to be much less when it's hot, which could be a result of the cooking process, but you definitely notice it and bread begins to overwhelm the sandwich. You also want to be sure to proactively specify what toppings you want on your hot sub because if you don't say anything, they don't appear to ask and all you'll get is what's in the menu description. From a price perspective, I think they're reasonable. I'm not sure what people expect to pay for a sub but it seems to me that most of these places are within a couple dollars of each other in price. And yes they have a "giant" size sub which most would think is excessive, but did ever consider this may be the preferred choice for two people to share or one person who eats half for lunch and the other half for dinner. It's not rocket science people. Would I recommend giving them a try? Sure. I've enjoyed some of their subs and will probably go back another day. If you're expecting a 5-star deli experience (not even sure what that is), then realign your expectations or move on... read more

I really wanted to like this place... Not that I don't like it, but there is nothing spectacular about it. I bought a giant Cheesesteak sub for myself, and was still hungry. The sandwich was ok, but I was disappointed. Ever wanted the perfect Cheesesteak only to get something similar to one of those boxed steaks (Steakums) from the supermarket? Then you'll know exactly what I mean. Skip the cheesesteak (or save money and buy Steakums, cause that's exactly what it tasted like). Bought my wife a chicken wrap that she did not like, so I ended up eating that too. The wrap was a little on the strange side (taste wise) - not bad - not good, but more of a "wtf exactly are you trying to taste like?" I gave this 3 stars because the teen liked his sandwich enough for him to say: "Best sandwich ever!!! This week" Pretty pricey though for sandwiches - considering I could have gone next door to Big Y for one of their ginormous "In-Vince-Ible" sandwich. Would I go back? Likely to try something new. Hopefully *these* guys won't feed me a line about: "We get people who drive all the way from Jersey for these subs" line some other vendor tried feeding me. read more

I am so disappointed. Jersey Mike's Cesar dressing is more like a creamy Italian. The peppers on their hot subs are pickled peppers. This may be fine for New Jersey, but not for Connecticut. If we had the option, there would be no stars selected. We have ordered from this Meriden, CT restaurant on at least 8 different occasions, and at least 50% of the orders were incorrect, inconsistent and terrible customer service. We would order and pay for bacon or extra bacon and never get extra bacon, and usually none at all. Ordered and paid for extra meat, and did not receive extra, but told everything was weighed to specifications for the sandwich selected, even though we paid for extra meat. When the orders were correct, they are our favorite sandwich; but spending $27-$37 each visit we definitely expect the order to be not only correct but consistent 100% of the time not 50%. If Subway's near 45,000 stores or McDonald's nearly 38,000 restaurants worldwide can do it, we think JM's should be able to provide correct orders and consistency through visits.
