We've been on the hunt for delicious Friday night subs which has taken us on adventures all over the Milwaukee metro. A lot of local sandwich spots aren't open after 4pm or so on Fridays (more of a lunch thing). But, I kinda dig an end of the week grab and go situation. Jersey Mike's was somehow off our radar. I had been to one, one time a few years back in Chicago. But, that's it. So, we recently decided to change that on a recent Friday evening and I'm so glad we did. We popped in here for dinner and I'm decidedly a fan of their subs. They have three sizes and have both hot and cold sub. I opted for a cold sub, which was great with everything from the bread to the toppings tasting fresh and fabulous, but would definitely give one of their hot ones a try as well! It's your basic sandwich shop inside (ie: fine to eat there on the fly but you're not missing anything by taking your subs to go). The service was fast and friendly and the prices were reasonable. Big Kahuna Cheeses Steak: Jersey Mike's was founded back in 1956 as a family run storefront. The original location was on the scenic Jersey Shore. Jumping to 1975, a 17-year-old employee named Peter purchased the shop with a loan from his football coach (also a local banker). Since then, Peter has expanded to more than 2,800 locations and is still the CEO. Long story short, I almost always go with a cheese steak whenever I go to a sub shop. Jersey Mike's offers a few different cheese steak options, but I went with the Big Kahuna. The term comes from the Hawaiian word kahuna, which means "priest" or "healer". Big Kahuna is typically used today as an informal idiom that refers to the most important thing or person in a group, like the boss (or in this case, boss of the subs). The Big Kahuna sub comes with grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms, jalapenos, and extra white American cheese. Jalapenos are a love it or hate it topping. I side with the haters, so I ordered my sub without them. My sub had some weight to it and was also bursting with the amount of filing. The savory slices of steak, heaps of peppers/onions, and mound of melty white American cheese dominated the sandwich with the mushrooms being much less prevalent. I'm a true Wisconsinite in the sense that I can never have enough cheese and add it to many of the foods I eat. That being said, I was satisfied with the amount of cheese on this delicious sub. Great subs, no question. They're fast, ingredients are always fresh and I have never had a complaint with this location. The employees are workhorses and rarely stand idle chatting. I've always noticed them cleaning and restocking in the time between customers. Bonus points for a loyalty program and pickup orders always ready on time! read more

I was out and about on a crappy snowy day and traffic was slow going so my lunch options were limited to where I was and I saw Jersey Mike's so I pulled a Uey. The place is in the Sendiks/strip mall property next to Toppers pizza with plenty of parking. I really like the Jersey Mike's product because their gimmick which I think is cool is the everything fresh period and yah everyone has that but they actually slice all meats and cheeses to order for each sandwich. They actually have a glass deli cooler with all the meats and cheeses for you to look at. I like the subs here because they have fresh bread options, the Italian is meaty, the toppings are fresh and plentiful and Mike's way just seals the deal. Mike's way is lettuce, tomatoes, onions, oil, vinegar and spices with no mayo which might something to add after thinking about that. My Italian was ordered on Parmesan bread Mike's way which always hits the spot because it's meaty and piled with fresh toppings. It's not my favorite sub overall because that's 85 miles away and not even close but it's my favorite chain sub place. Love! Jersey Mike's is my favorite sub shop and they were so great here! So fast and friendly

Great Jersey Mike's location. Hard workers. Delicious subs. I visited this Jersey Mike's location for the first time on Sun, Jul 15, 2018. The store only had two employees working and was very busy (at least 8-10 people in line ordering multiple sandwiches). The workers were actually filling in from another location, but I wouldn't have noticed had I not overheard. They were working super hard and my order was filled as quickly as could be expected. Quality of the food was great, and I'm happy I went. Props to the two workers who were doing an outstanding job! read more

If you're used to Subway and its ilk, you have nothing to lose by trying an alternative, and this is it, my friend. Stunningly, stupefyingly superior to the rest of the pack. Dumb employees. I visited this restaurant today. The girl behind the counter did not ask what type of bread I wanted. They already cut the wrong type of bread when I told them what I wanted. I said light on lettuce and no unions. She then asked what I wanted on the other subs. Wrong. Just one. She was preparing several subs at once. It's better if she focused on getting one right. When I got home, I discovered my sub had unions and too much lettuce. Wrong again. I am at work and could not return to the restaurant and they don't deliver. There are so many other subs shops that get it right. This restaurant needs to train their employees!!!! Never going back. read more

Awesome Sandwiches & Super-Friendly Staff!!! We met the owner when we were there, and were given some coupons for next time. We'll definitely be back. Their employees are the nicest ever, the owner definitely sets the tone as he is very friendly and the entire staff follows suit. We were greeted when we walked in and everyone was all smiles, not fake either, just genuine nice people. Two people asked how our meal was, who does that in a sandwich shop? Jersey Mike's sure does! Also, I am super picky with my sandwiches yet mine was perfect. (I know, I know, you wouldn't think someone could mess up a sandwich, but it has happened to me before, at a different chain. After seeing (and smelling) a coworker's sub from here recently, I stopped in to pick one up. This was my second time at Jersey Mike's, and this experience was just as great as the first time. The staff here is super nice and will make your sub exactly the way you want it. The subs are absolutely delicious. They have hot subs, cold subs, wraps, and the option to order your sub as a salad (they call it Sub In A Tub). For the subs, there are three size options to choose from: Mini (5 inches), Regular (7 inches), and Giant (14 to 15 inches). Enormous fan of subs, not so much a fan of the bad sub shops in the area that serve either plastic bread or never change their menu. One look at the Jersey Mikes menu, and I'm already in the car. Totally authentic buffalo chicken sub (BF verified who used to live in Buffalo NY) and amazing pastrami Ruben. No sub places carry pastrami here in the Midwest, except for delicatessens. I'm a giant fan of this sandwich! Hot, delicious pastrami with sauerkraut and Swiss (nix the dressing which I despise). They cook the meat after you order it, hot and fresh. My sub was still steaming when I took a bite. Bathrooms immaculately clean. Absolutely will be coming back. read more

Omg. First time here and I was excited to see all the fresh options. Sometimes when you go to a sub shop, you get old tired lettuce and sad looking topping. Well, I can honestly say, their topping were really fresh. I ordered the club sub "Mike's Way" which is with lettuce, vinegar, onions and oil. Had it to go and yes, when I got back to the office. It was a little soggy on one end but, salvageable. Good flavor and the meats did shine thru. I would eat there again and try the hot subs. Recommend by me. read more

The evening employees at this location are always pleasant and hard working. Even if I can't get there until a little bit before they are scheduled to close, they are always professional and polite, instead of cranky like some other places employees are. Very flavorful hot and cold subs, I really like the chicken Philly sub and especially in the cold turkey sub, it's excellent! You don't find a lot of places that will actually slice the meat and the cheese as they're making your sub. Everything in and on the sandwich was very fresh. read more

Jersey Mikes reminds me of my favorite sub shop in Jersey where i lived many years ago.Hadn't heard of Jersey Mike's until we moved to NC, but they quickly became my go to sub place.Subway is actually closer to our apartment but Jersey Mikes is worth the trip.The flavor of the subs is just so much better than Subway in my opinion.Subway has good bread.Jersey Mikes is way better.Meats and cheese are sliced fresh.Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the sandwich.I always buy the Giant Super Sub and enjoy my sandwich for a couple days.Definitely five stars from me. read more

Friendly, helpful, and honest staff! I ordered the Philly cheese steak on gluten free bread. When we paid for our food, the guy who made my sub stopped us and said "I'm so sorry, I forgot to make it on the gluten free bread!" He remade the sandwich and gave us the other Philly sandwich for free. I am SO thankful he thought to say something, as I would've gone home and ate and I would have been so incredibly sick!!! I thanked him for his honesty! There needs to be more people like this guy in the world, honest people who actually care. By the way, the gluten free bread is actually really good. I'm a serious sandwich lover. The 3 big sandwich places in town are good, but I needed a change, so I pulled into Jersey Mike's. This sub shop offers complete sandwich offerings, which takes the stress out of going through the line and making choices as someone builds your sandwich. I ordered a Reuben made with turkey, instead of pastrami. The first thing I noticed, is that they actually slice the meat to order. The hot subs are prepared on a flat top grill, by a cook, with a spatula. There's no convection box or assembly line toaster oven, and I think it makes a difference. My sandwich had thousand island, kraut and Swiss cheese. It was heated up and turned a few times on the hot grill, so everything was evenly mixed up. It made every bite a perfect one. The bread is a substantial, soft and tasty Italian loaf. My sub, however uncomplicated, was warm and comforting. I also wanted to try a cold sub, so I ordered the Italian. The sub comes in mini and regular sizes. The mini size was actually perfect for one person. They suggested that I get the cold sub with mayo, oil, vinegar, and seasoning, so I went with that and was very pleased. This sandwich was so tasty and it was not greasy like some other sub shops that I frequent. I want to try the Philly cheese steak and the meatball subs. Don't order a sandwich in a tub. I ordered a #7 in a tub. The sandwich kid toom the butt end of the turkey breast and shaved a small bit of turkey and put it on the cheese. I would hace received more meat from a McDonalds hamburger. I asked him if i get the tub for half price because i only get half the meat. He scoffed and said it looks smaller because it is not on bread. He then put this small amont on the tub to then cover it with more lettuce just to fill the tub. What a rip off. I am not looking at coming back to this location again. read more
