What a disgrace this place is. What an embarrassment. Would you feed this to anyone?
Mancow M.

I should not be doing this when I'm not fuming mad. I am trying to contain myself. It was just horrific folks. I had forgotten how bad this location is. Truly corporate needs to step in! Hell Cat Subs told me to contact them last time. I did not. Let's start with a gentleman who was eating (or at least still chewing ) while making my sandwich "Mike's way."Food was dripping off his lips into the condiments. I told him about it and he thanked me kindly and wiped his lips. To the store- check your surveillance video and see if I'm telling the truth. You will see it. I wanted a giant kahuna and a giant jersey shore. Turns out they didn't have bread. Yes they didn't have white bread and a jersey Mike's! So I settled for two regulars with older bread. The gentleman kept insisting that I order by number. And kept asking me things "do you want lettuce on your 56?" Or whatever the # . But here's the worst part (and just wait until you see the picture) I was given an ice cold steak sandwich. With the ice cold cheese thrown outside the sandwich into the wrapper. Look at the picture! Tell me Jersey Mike's would you feed this to someone in your family? What a disgrace. You really should be ashamed of yourselves. If one iota of this is wrong then let it all be wrong. I please suggest you check out your surveillance cameras and see how slipshod this place is. What an embarrassment. Do people have zero honor?

Club Sub - sprinkled perfectly by Zach. So good!

This place is unbelievable. I walked in and everybody was just smiling and saying hi. Grant welcomed us and was very zealous and awesome. Zach made the best sandwich ever. They were training and having fun, what a great sight to see. Whole crew was awesome and sandwiches at JM are always good, but I am surely coming back to this location, even if it's out of the way.

Definitely worth the wait for these freshly prepared sandwiches. I used their app to place order while I was enroute to the restaurant. Very easy to use interface. The staff was friendly and helpful when we asked about our order (we arrived prior to the stated time on the app). Pepsi products are sold, either bottle or fountain. I only had the Italian before, which was pretty good this time as well. All ingredients were fresh and the juice is a must for the Italian, a bit sloppy but it's fun like that. One Giant is equivalent to 4 mini's. I think I would have been filled on a mini. But this time I wanted to try some others as well, the club and the cheese steaks. The Club had bacon, which added some nice texture and smokiness. The cheese steak is better than what I've had when in Philly. It had good flavor, well seasoned beef, the toppings were awesome with mushroom, onion and peppers. I think the cheesesteak is what I'll go with going fwd. Nothing like a hot sandwich with the melty cheese. They have about a dozen tables for dine in, but we noticed alit of folks just did pickup from order in store. I think more people should use the app to expedite, but maybe it's just me...I hate to wait in queue. I digged the beach vibe and the art along the wall. Feels a bit like the shore and brings back some good memories as well.

Big Kahuna Cheesesteak

Did an online weeknight order to eat inside the restaurant. It was easy to order on the app. When we arrived the white bread had just come out of the oven so the bread had to sit for a bit before it was cool enough to handle and make sandwiches with. We ordered 3 giant subs to share. The original Italian, the club Supreme and the big kahuna cheesesteak. All the sandwiches were freshly made and tasty. They cut the giant subs into 4 equal parts so its easier to eat. 2 pieces of the giant is equivalent to their regular sized sub. The cheesesteak is fresh made to order, so that is an added plus for their hot subs. The mikes seasonings and oil and vinegar combination definitely makes the sub here.

I came here for lunch and it took 25 minutes to grab two regular sandwiches during lunch rush which was longer than I expected. But when I ordered my sandwiches no one asked what toppings I wanted on my sandwich so they just handed me both sandwiches. I thought the whole point of having an assembly line at the topping section is to ask what toppings you want so that you can customize your sandwich. The one person kept complaining that they asked me when I addressed it but I was standing waiting so I walked out with two sandwiches with toppings that I didn't want. I understand that it is busy but I didn't appreciate the attitude and the sandwich was good but I will not be coming to this location again.

On a rainy Thursday night, we finally had a chance to check it out because we wanted a quick and easy meal before heading to the Art exhibition opening in the Northbrook Public Library close by. The restaurant was not busy at the time. There was only 1 table occupied. After we settled down, there was another small table taken. Our waitress was friendly, but after she brought the Miller Light for my husband and a draft beer "Fist City" for our daughter, she forgot about my lemonade. I had to remind her when she brought our food. She also just brought 1 Fish Taco when my daughter ordered 2, and had to place another order again. Not a big deal. When we left and passed by her, she didn't say anything like thank you or good bye, just looking at us. It was a little awkward. Well, maybe she's just not very outgoing. Hope that I was not expecting too much from a little eatery. Now on to the tacos. There were hits and misses. The Crispy Avocado Taco was very good! It's my first time tasting fried avocado, crispy and flavorful! I would order that again! However, the lamb in the Lamb Carnitas Taco was bland and rather dry. it's the first time that I ever had lamb that had no flavor. Although the mango slaw had a nice crunch, tart and refreshing, and went well with the lamb meat, it was skimpy and not enough to top all the meat. I joked to my husband that maybe that's the taste of munching on cardboard! I don't like to waste food and I wasn't full, but I could not continue eating, and had to waste half of the lamb taco. Husband thought that his Blackened Salmon Taco was OK, but his Steak Taco was not, since every bite of steak had gristle. He was surprised since that was supposed to be their signature taco. Daughter's 2 Fish tacos were good, except that she didn't like the flour taco shells. She prefers corn taco shells. My lamb taco had corn taco shells (2 layers) and the crispy avocado had flour shells. I love supporting local businesses and really planned to give Eataco 5 stars before we came, but had to deduct 1 star after we dined in. However, when I read more reviews afterward and found that many customers enjoyed the 2 bottles of salsa (1 green and 1 red) that came with the tacos, and we had no condiments of any kind on our table. Should I had a bottle of salsa, the Lamb Carnitas would have been edible. Unfortunately, I had to deduct another star. Our overall experience at Eataco was not bad, it took us only 55 minutes for the meal. It fits the bill when you need something quick and simple.

OMG I was beyond pleasantly surprised whoever cooked that fish last night and whatever recipe they used it is a rockstar. It was so good and I reheated the leftovers tonight and it reheated amazingly they had just enough of the sauce in the container that allowed me to reheat it I added a little butter. I am absolutely 100% blown away. I was skeptical, but I'm so glad that I chose to order it. I love that I can order good fish right down the street from my house and not having to drive all the way to Bob chins. To the chef that cooked this at Dengeos chefs kiss I cannot say enough good things about this. The flavor was perfect not one single bone and I loved it from the first bite to the last bite the next night and thank you for putting enough of the sauce in there that I'm able to reheat it beautifully I definitely will be ordering this again thank you thank you thank you. My husband is a fan of the skirt steak sandwich and the gyros. Overall, they make everything easy and convenient, and I really appreciate the pickup window, such a bonus when you're on the go. They also do a great job with upkeep, constantly wiping down tables, which we really appreciate.

Neither was the case, and it was instead an above-average fast food experience. Now... do you remember when the fries at McD's were actually worth raving about? Yeah... it was likely when they were cooked in beef tallow, as opposed to oil with beef flavor added (really!). I don't buy into the belief that one must go after seed oils with torch and pitchforks, but I do love a darn good fry, and Steak 'n Shake delivered! They were hot, fresh, and well seasoned. The burger itself was respectable as far as fast food goes. It was cooked fresh and assembled with care. The meat was well seasoned, and the veggies gave a good balance in terms of freshness. While the smashed patties didn't have the lacy crisp edges a next-level smashburger does, it's fast food, so I'm not going to hold it against them (I may be tough, but I am reasonable!). It did take a hot minute for the food to come out, but I was not in a hurry, and I want to recognize that everything appeared to be cooked fresh to order. It was very quiet at the time, so please be aware that during a busy time, YMMV. Finally, the service was perfectly polite and friendly. Final verdict: Steak 'n Shake has by 'good' by definition burgers. Where they shine, though, is the fries, and not for a lack of seed oils, but for being hot, fresh, and flavorful! Thus, we are left with a place that is not a destination, but one to visit when I am in the area craving a superb fast-food fry!
