Its a good restaurant. You order at the kiosk, then grab your food when your number is called. The food was pretty good for the price and the shakes were actually really good. The restaurant itself has a very fast food vibe and I personally liked it. I will say the chair is rock hard but other than that its pretty good!

SNS is quite the wildcard in the fast food world. I feel as though they were once the place to be on a good night and now just another sign on the freeway. Although I think some level they are underrated as their shakes still hit fairly well. I've through here a few times with my buddy in the last year or so, and they keep a fairly clean place. They have fully moved to kiosks for ordering now, but still do have the ability to use cash. I am on board with this as it makes for Quicker processes and no lines. I find the beverage system to be quite interesting, as you get a receipt with code to scan by the drink machine so you're able to fill your cup (not sure what they're preventing though). The steak frank is not much to go home about, though its not the worst thing ever. Ok at best. Fries are good, but thats about where that parade ends. The onions rings absolutely slap for sure and are a staple on the menu! But why 3 stars? Because of the mood. It's honestly sort of depressing when theres only 9 people inside. Its tough to enjoy a meal in a dead environment. It is not a fault of the restaurant but reflection of the state of the chain. Hopefully they can turn it around someday, but atlas.

It has been a while since I've been to Steak and Shake. Now you order at a kiosk, pay and they call your number and you pick up your food at the counter. You get your own drink but you have to prompt them to give you a cup. This location was bright, clean and looked as if the furniture had been replaced. I remember it before as kinda grimy so it looked refreshed and upgraded. Our order was up quickly. The quality of the single steak burger was as I remembered it -- slightly a step above McDonalds -- although the skinny shoestring fries were excellent -- thin, crispy and hot and very plentiful.

Ehhhhh not the best experience here. Came with two friends on a Sunday night. They had one server working the entire restaurant (and this includes seating parties and bussing tables). He did a great job and was hustling, but it was ridiculous and I felt so bad for him. It was all he could do to get people seated in a reasonable amount of time and take and serve orders. The table across from us sat with dirty dishes almost the entire time we were there because he had no time. At one point someone who looked like a manger came out to help, but he didn't seem to be doing enough to alleviate the pressure. The food was fine. I don't get what's so exciting about the steakburger, but the bacon cheeseburger I had was fine (likely a little bit nicer than McDonald's). The egg nog shake I got was delicious, but there was wayyyyyyy too much nutmeg on the top, it actually made my stomach turn a bit. The garlic Parmesan 'add on' for my fries was just a pre-made mix shaken over the fries, which tasted okay but wasn't evenly distributed over the fries. Their prices here are great, the burger combo was only $3.99, so that's good. Despite the hustle of our sever we saw him only to take our orders, drop off our order, and drop off the check. Not his fault as he was swamped, but it was noticeable that he never came back to check in. According to my friends who eat here more often, this isn't a rare occurrence. If they could figure out their staffing needs better it would likely be a better experience.

This review is purely for happy hour! No, silly, not THAT kind of happy hour! We're talking about the shake happy hour Monday through Friday from 2-5pm. Having a late afternoon craving for something sweet, Steak 'n Shake sent me an email with a half-price offer for any of their shakes. Talk about perfect timing! It was 4pm, so I grabbed my kiddos and we hightailed it to Glenview. Here's what we tried. Two red velvet shakes for my kiddos, and a chocolate for me. I didn't get to try the red velvet because my boys are at that no-sharing age, but my chocolate was sooooo good! The portion size was more than generous. The ice cream was rich and high quality. Nice and thick and overly chocolatey...what's not to love? My boys also raved about the red velvet. Major plus for those practicing extra safe measures these days. They delivered our shakes curbside wearing gloves! Side note: Pairs perfectly with a Western bbq bacon burger and a side of those fabulous skinny fries (I couldn't resist).

This might have been the very best service I have received in a Steak 'n Shake, well...ever. Maxx F. was pretty solid. Usually the service is abysmal, tonight was a different story. Quick with the refills, suggested a shake for dessert, got the order correct.. A new milestone. Why not five stars? Walking in the "Please wait to be seated" sign did not bode well. as there was only one other table seated in the restaurant. And wait we did indeed. Also, our chili bowls were served at the same time as our steakburgers. Would have been nice to have them out first. Overall though, top rate!

I was very happy with service and quality of food here. We ordered 4 shakes during happy hour, and the triple burgers which are amazing with everything on it. The fries were hot and my kids loved them. We had some with cheese and one container of cheese was fresh and hot, the other looked like slime (my kids said that lol) I'm assuming one was our longer then the other. I took a star off bc of that. Service was friendly, we did drive thru around 2:15pm. The burger with no bun was delicious. I will definitely come back here, my husband and I both thought why haven't we tried this place earlier...

We walked into the restaurant and was immediately told "No dine-in. Carry-out only" There were legit SIXTEEN tables open. I asked her why and the cashier made a face and just kept repeating dine out only . They refused to let us dine in and said they were short staffed. They were incredibly rude and disrespectful to the customers walking in. Everyone walks in to see a bunch of tables open only to be told they can't serve you. Never again .

On a weekday evening, as expected, the restaurant was not busy.  We were promptly seated at a 4-top table (2 × 2-top) against the right wall, with some other 2-tops on both sides.  Like many reviewers had mentioned, the venue was beautiful, modern and chic. There were 7 tables occupied, including us.  The music that they had was not too loud, just that customers' conversations were amplified by the box shape open dining area.  If we focused enough, we could hear every conversation if we wanted to.  This was obvious when a table of about 6 women got seated at a table near the front door, some of them laughed and talked very loudly.  My husband and I just found it funny and didn't let that bother us.  However, when the restaurant is filled on busier days, it might be a different story. Our server, Patrick, was very nice and attentive.  Since they did not list drinks on their menu except those with alcohol, I asked him about non-alcoholic drinks.  After a brief "discussion", he asked me to leave it to him to make me a drink with mango.  He came up with a beautiful drink that was good and refreshing, with some mango flavor.  It was Virgin Paloma on our receipt for $8, which was reasonable.  He was very polite and checked in on us several times at appropriate times during our dinner.  The pace of the dinner was good, we spent a total of an hour and 15 minutes in the restaurant. Patrick might be the only waiter serving all the tables that evening, though. I also ordered Grilled Octopus ($22) which was very good, tender and flavorful, but was a little too salty to my taste.  The small pita bread wedges were warm and fluffy with some crispy edges, the beet hummus was creamy, and everything was delicious and tasted fresh.  I generously shared 2 little bites of octopus with my husband and I finished the entire plate, it was so good!  My husband really liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) and I shared a bite of that too.  He also had a House Salad for $6, that was a very good value.  He enjoyed a glass of Sauvignon Blanc Crossing ($12) too.  We also shared an order of Crème Brulee ($8), that was creamy and cooked perfectly.  We ordered a takeout order of Rigatoni with Sausage ($23), that was a good portion, and was still delicious and al dente the next day after being microwaved. I am so happy that we found Social Inn - a hidden gem in Plaza del Prado, it's not far from home, with comfortable and beautiful ambiance, excellent service (from Patrick), an attractive menu with enticing food (fresh ingredients and appealing plating), and reasonable prices, we will definitely be back!

We were in the area late in the day and remembered Social Inn was open, so we went. We ordered a variety of items. I had the Social Burger (at least 1/2 pound), we also ordered their chicken dinner salad and the beet hummus. Everything was delicious. I did order my burger medium and it was delivered well done, but it was still good. They also have one of the best gluten-free buns I've ever had. I do wish they were open at lunch time still, but I understand they need to be open for their busiest hours. Social Inn is a great option when you are in the Glenview area.
