Subs are nothing to write home about, and other non-chain sub shops in the area make better sandwiches. The turkey is slimy and wet, like the low end deli meats in the food stores. The quality of the food isn't very good and doesn't look appetizing. They don't even offer sweet peppers. I placed a holiday catering order for 25 people in advance over the phone. It was scheduled for 12 noon pickup. We arrived on time to pick it up only to find out that our order was never made! The employees told us they were "too busy with walk-in orders" and since there were only 2 people working at this location, they did not have time to make our catering order. They didn't even have the decency to call us in advance to let us know that the order was not going to be ready! No apologies offered, instead they told us they could make 3 giant subs, if we waited 15-20 minutes. As if 3 subs could ever feed 25 people! Absolutely ridiculous! Ruined our staff lunch and forced us to scramble at the last minute to find a replacement. read more

Had a chance to enjoy one of the many subs at Mike's. Place is brand new 4/14. Just opened last week, and there has been a ton of foot traffic. Walked in to a staff that was friendlier than most places in Flemington. Must say that is a nice touch. Went for lunch around 12:00. Waited in a line of about 10 people - short compared to the lines that were pouring out the doors last week. I had the #7 - Turkey with Provolone "Regular" which is a 1/2 in the normal sub shops. I didn't go with the full "Mike's Way" as I am not a huge fan of onions and black olives. Went with the lettuce and tomatoes, pickles vinegar and the "spices". I noticed the sandwich had a lot better flavors than other sandwiches I have had in other sandwich shops and or delis in Ftown. I liked the music that was on - seemed like a good mix of rock. Having ESPN on all the TVs is a great touch as well. I like to be able to catch up on the wide world of sports will eating lunch. If you are in the area - you should defiantly give Mike's a try. If you see a long line - don't get discouraged and run for 5 Guys next door. The wait is worth it and besides - the friendly staff at Mike's moves you along pretty quick. read more

Got a great tuna sub one night and then a bad one 2 days later. The difference? The lettuce was all wet and made the roll soggy by the time I was ready to eat it about 15 minutes later. A $14 plus waste. Put the lettuce in a salad spinner and let it dry, otherwise you wind up with a soggy drippy sandwich which is what I got. Do I return again? Food is just ok. Nothing special. Ordered online, went there 25 minutes later to pick up (5 minutes later then the online system said it would be ready) and it had not been prepared yet. So much for ordering ahead of time convenience. People were friendly, but mostly young kids working there and were obviously new. Took the kid wrapping the sub longer to wrap it then it did the girl who prepared it. Scary. Not much meat on the sub. Not much lettuce or tomato, but way too much onion. Enough mayo oil vinegar for 3 subs. But somehow the bread was still dry and bland. Subway quality at best, but with a higher price. Would I go back? I have eaten at or from several Jersey Mike's locations. They are all pretty similar. The sandwiches are good, and there is good variety but they are more expensive than Subway and most other sub sandwich shops. This location was clean and the staff were friendly and efficient however I am not used to being asked to tip people that are essentially fast food servers. I am not saying tipping here is wrong, and you are not compelled to do so, but it is unusual. I had a number 4 which is salami and a couple types of italian ham with the usual lettuce, tomato, oil and vinegar and seasonings. So call me cheap if you want but almost $20 for a regular 6" sub and a regular tub?? The only thing extra we added was 2 pieces if bacon each, that's just ridiculous! So, I actually like Jersey Mike's subs. They're much better quality than anything you'd get at Subway or Quizno's. They're in a class above the other chain sandwich shops. My wife and I will usually get the Club Sub which is pretty good -- turkey, ham, provolone and bacon. It's definitely a winning combination. I like the bread here as it's actually incredibly fresh and makes for a great sandwich. The meats are not incredibly high quality but they're sliced fresh which is a plus. They don't give you a ton of meat so be prepared for that. I'm actually a huge fan of the toppings as they're super fresh and they have a nice selection. I especially like the pepper selection -- they have both jalapenos and the hot pepper spread. That's awesome. If I was rating this place strictly on the food, this place would be an easy 3-4 stars. They even have a decent chip selection and serve Pepsi products which I prefer. Why the 2 star review? Jersey Mike's (not just the Flemington location but this one included) are seriously the model of inefficiency. They have one person slicing meats and all the meats and cheese are sliced fresh so imagine the back up you have. Then, they only have one person doing the toppings for the subs and they're usually pretty slow. After that, they only have one register and I always seem to get stuck behind someone with a huge order so you're completely stuck behind them as those items are usually keyed into the register. It makes for a long wait. The Flemington location actually has 2 slicing and toppings areas but they only keep the one open. They really need to have both areas open as it takes way too long to get a sub. They'd also be a lot quicker if they had more than one person working the toppings area. The one register is also not the best thing as many people come in here with large orders. I do want to say that it's not just the Flemington location. But, the Flemington location is one of the only ones I've seen with that 2nd area but I guess they don't always use it. I do like the food and the prices are pretty reasonable. They even have a loyalty/rewards program and all you have to do is punch in your phone number vs remembering to carry some card around. I haven't had one but the cheesesteaks actually look pretty good here and it looks like they give you a bunch of meat. read more

I've lived in NJ for almost 30 years and have successfully avoided this chain all that time, until tonight. Unfortunately it looks like that will be the one and only time we try it. It's not terrible but the quality is absolutely no better than a prepackaged sub at your local supermarket (assuming your supermarket doesn't use Boars Head products, as that would be a significant step up). The turkey ham and bacon sub was mostly tasteless and the bread average. The Philly Sub was better though I think that was because the melted cheese masked the lower quality meat and the grease soaked into the bread giving it a bit of flavor. Any deli offering a name brand meat in its sandwiches would be a better choice. read more
