Jalon, Amanda, Daren, and the supervisor Andrew were amazing at my first visit. I ordered a turkey sub with all the fixings. The staff smiles were very inviting to me. I am expected to return to visit the store when I return from Florida in February. When I visit stores, and restaurants I make it my business to see if that business is the type of place I would or wouldn't return to. Then I do a review to let the community know how my experience was. I noticed, and observed during my visit to this location how Andrew the (supervisor) was so attentive, and helpful towards his staff assisting everyone. It's very important to me to see how connected staff were with the supervisor, because it showed me that everyone were on the same page, and are team players. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE. Waited 40 minutes last night after the time the app said my order would be ready and it still had not been started. Other people walked up to the counter, ordered, got their food and ate in the time I waited for mine. Ended up leaving without my food because it should not take an hour to make one regular and one mini sub. There were over a dozen people waiting for their orders when I got there and most of them left empty handed too. If you really want Jersey Mike's you're going to have to order in person or wait over an hour. Is always good but this last time there were two uncommon things, floors behind the counter filthy, bread pieces and food everywhere but what caught my attention the most, one of the cooks not wearing socks and sandals. My husband used to eat here at least once a month when he worked in Ferndale, he always enjoyed the #56 The big Kahuna sub. I have tried the cold sub #7 Turkey and provolone. We haven't been back since this pandemic started though. He's been trying to eat healthier and less gluten too. Their subs are all fresh and pretty good. Subs in general aren't a food I crave often, but their execution is good and better than the days of eating Subway. I might eat more subs in a year if there were other GF options than the Udi's, which is not favorite GF brand much. At least they try. It's still not a bad place for a fresh sub. read more

Wow...I guess "poorly run by management" would be a clear statement as to how this place presents itself. I went there yesterday to get myself some dinner right around 7:25PM, which is a full hour-and-a-half-plus before they're scheduled to close for the night (9PM). They do *not* have the "COVID's causing short-staffing so we can't do everything" issue, because there are quite a few people working there at that time, at least 5 or 6 different visible people who are constantly goofing off with each other...and not getting much work done at all. The word I'll use to describe them, collectively, is "lazy". Look: I fully understand within the last half hour or less of business at a restaurant that certain items might be out and not restocked before the end of the day. A full hour-and-a-half before you close, and you're out of *multiple things* that you, well, kind of NEED TO MAKE SUBS WITH?!?!?!??? So I wait an abnormally long time as the first person in line after the person who's currently ordering...and these employees are very invested in goofing off with each other and not getting a whole lot done. There's movement, but only one guy really seems to be actually doing things to make food happen. The other 4-5 guys just seem to be there to milk the clock and joke around with each other. I finally get asked what I want, and I tell them: a Club Supreme with no cheese. First thing I'm told is that there's no white bread: I must either have rosemary (with cheese, which I don't want/can't have), or wheat. Honestly, the bread thing isn't that much of a hill to die on for me, so I go with the wheat. You'd think they'd be making more bread, because it's obvious that they've been out of white for quite a while, now...but nope! The singular guy actually working to make sandwiches is working on multiple orders at once, including online/Door Dash stuff which has come in. Once he cuts my pretty meager slices of meat, he realizes that, oh! We're out of *bacon*, too!!! So, wait: you're out of white bread. You've run out of *bacon*, as well. Maybe it'd be easier to just list what you're *not* out of at a certain point! I believe that they call that a "menu"! The bacon thing really sets me off, because he claims they "just ran out". Really? Just now? I guess it was impossible to see that pile of bacon getting smaller, and smaller, and smaller, and wow, you're JUST SO CLOSE TO CLOSING TIME NOW...you've only got an hour-and-a-half to go!!!! Why bother making more *bacon*? On the GRILL THAT IS DIRECTLY BEHIND YOU, THAT YOU USE TO MAKE HALF THE SUBS ON THE MENU?!?!?!???? Yeah. That's just not possible to see that coming down the road. I mean, how *could* you see that coming? "I can give you extra meat, I guess..." was his reply. Well, great: how about EXTRA BACON?!?!??!??? He tells one of the guys behind him to get on the grill and start making bacon, to which (I cannot make this stuff up...) the other guy replies, "The grill's cold, man..." The grill. Is cold. With an hour and a half to go in the day. So, you're not only out of bacon, you couldn't *possibly* make more bacon because...reasons. Please, God, blame it on COVID. This is the kind of garbage that makes me actively root against places to succeed. There's a major league disconnect when you have half a dozen people working, and the bare minimum of work necessary to sell your fare is NOT GETTING DONE!!!!! I left. I won't be back. Other Jersey Mike's Subs locations do not have issues like this. *Yes*, they might be out of a singular item from time-to-time, but they can always replenish it until, say, 15 minutes before close. Otherwise? They're *on* that, taking care of their issue and not steering into the mismanagement. Don't reward this idiocy with your money or your time. Drive or walk elsewhere. read more

They threw out my initial order & re-made it for me because they were concerned it had sat out too long. I eat from this Ferndale location several times a week. Everytime people are lined up to the bathroom. Online orders are falling off the table ,every seat is full with waiting customers. The staff can only work so hard. Hire more people for the lunch rush. If you order from here give your self an hour to get the sandwich. Awkward Is the word that comes to mind, when thinking about this dining experience. We arrived and placed our order and there were probably about five people behind the counter, including the back area. Two young men were taking and completing orders. All of a sudden, what seemed to be an impromptu staff meeting broke out. I felt like I was in the middle of something I should not have been privy to. All the while, one young man, named Jalen was working diligently. He completed part of my order which was a cold sub. I watched as he prepped the bread and began to complete five additional subs. All this time my hot sub had not even been started. While all the jaw-jacking was going on, one young man was talking about his misplaced grill tool. I guess it was finally found, so he began to clean the grill and start three hot subs including mine. If everyone was on task, as Jalen was, I would have been in and out. Instead, I was made to wait approximately 10 additional minutes. The food was great as usual, however excluding the one exception, the service was less than that. read more

Jersey Mike's (JM/JM's) has lost me as a customer (to Jimmy John's). I ordered from this location when at work, but I ordered from a Northville location while at home. A few month's back I accidentally placed an online order at the Ferndale (Woodward Ave.) location while at home. I immediately (within 10 seconds of placing the online order) realized my mistake. The app had no recourse to "cancel" an order; no instructions on how to cancel an order. Finally I found a web page that said, "call the local JM" to cancel an online order, so I did just that. Five phone calls in the space of ten minutes and not a single pickup from a store employee. I left two voice messages explaining my mistake and how I wanted the order canceled and/or my credit charge reversed. Three weeks later -- nothing. No reversal, no call-back, nothing. Additional attempts to contact the store by phone went unanswered. It seems they misplaced their phone at the Woodward Ave. location. I finally located their corporate office number and called them and e-mailed them. They were apologetic but then came that frustrating line read from a cue card --- "Each Jersey Mike's location is individually owned and operated." In other words, they could not impel the location to take action. Really?! This standard phrase was used three times in my talk with the corporate customer service representative. Franchisees can carry the JM name and choose not to abide by the JM standard operating procedure/bylaws which says orders can be canceled by calling the local franchise? I asked if these "individually owned and operated" franchises were also free to choose what brand of cold cuts they used, what branding to place on their food, etc. It seems corporate would hold the franchisee's feet to the fire only on matters that were of importance to them. Customer service was a franchisee responsibility and, essentially, JM's was not going to get involved. Corporate did send two e-mails to the franchisee asking them to rectify the situation but could not assist further if the franchisee ignored the request. Again, really? A week after corporate's second e-mail to the franchisee I got a phone call from the owner/manager. A week after that a credit was applied to my credit card. Too little, too late. Adios, Jersey Mike's! Jimmy John's walks the talk when it comes to customer service. read more

This is literally the worst Jersey Mike's I've been too. I've had the unfortunate choice to frequent this particular Jersey Mike's as it is closest to my home. The gentleman that I believe is the manager always has the worst attitude. You actually feel that he is inconvienced by you ordering food from him. They move at a snails pace. I made an online order which was to be ready at 6:26 pm. I arrived a 6:20pm. While the store was full, no workers acknowledged my presence. I patiently stood near the order pick up area for 5-10 minutes before being asked what order I was here for. When I was asked, they had to ask what bread I wanted meaning the order had not even been started, 10 minutes after the pick up time. Do not go here. Save yourself the misery that the employees of this location radiate and go to a different location. read more

I am being a hypocrite here because I often laugh at reviews of fast food chains as if someone has never tried a McDonald's before. However, I love Jersey Mike's, and I want to tell everyone. As a vegetarian, my options for quick food are extremely limited. After one too many times ordering Jimmy John's and being disappointed, I tried the veggie sub at Jersey Mike's and never looked back. Occasionally there's way too much cheese on it (which may be a plus for others), but every time it's delicious. I don't know what the oil combination is, but with the seasoning they put on, it's perfect every time. My biggest recommendation is to order ahead on the website. Sometimes it's super busy, and it's nice to just walk up and get your food without waiting at all. Just be aware that the always courteous staff may learn your name then, and they may remember you and shout out, "Hey Nicole! Your order's over there!" while you're passing a long line of people. And you may think, "God, this is embarrassing that I eat lunch here this much," but then again, you won't really care while you're scarfing down your sandwich five minutes later. read more

Two guys were in the kitchen cooking and the manager and a girl were making out in the doorway next to the phone . I kept calling while I stood there in line for 30 minutes behind 2 other customers. When they finally took the 2nd persons order they waited another 5 minutes before they even started making his sub so he walked out of the store. When i finally got to place my order for 6ct. Large subs I got to wait another half hour for my food. While I was waiting a lady came in who had ordered online a hour before and when she got there and they hadn't even started her order. I've been here a few times, and had a positive experience every time until today. The difference today was that the gentleman who seemed to be the manager was not present. There were at least 6-8 workers today, they had a lot of orders and were all moving as slow as possible. I saw them butcher peoples sandwiches as they mistakenly put ingredients on that were not part of the order, scraped it off upon realizing, and just masked it with the correct ingredients. What if there is an allergy involved? The counter was a mess, with peoples sandwiches laying on top of dirty receipts. There was such minimal communication between staff and customers that I could not even customize my order before being cashed out. And again, everybody there was moving like a sloth, acting as if they didn't have a couple dozen tickets to be made. I even saw a customer who had been waiting for her pick up for a while, go back up to ask how much longer it would take for her order and the staff pointed at the bag sitting on the rack. Today I stopped in because it was giving day and the proceeds were going to go to the local hospital. I was looking forward to a good sub, and I then I instantly lost my appetite. A worker was walking from the dining area to behind the counter and he was eating potato chips. He set them in the back room and then he asked me if I was ready. I asked if he was going to wash his hands and he in a very rude way said "I wad going to, but I was just taking your order." In my eyes, he had zero intention to wash his hands. Even if he did, I wondered what else he did that day and came back to the counter without washing his hands. Instantly lost my appetite and left. This to me was completely disgusting. I love this place. The staff is polite and friendly and they take their time making you good things to eat. This location is on the smaller side and it can be a bit slow but it's coming around. Besides, you're waiting on quality so that's always a good reason. That said, if you order a chicken cheesesteak you'll be waiting a little longer, but they are the JAM of a sandwich! (They did turn it down a bit after I said I couldn't hear her) We ordered three subs, the first two were made, wrapped and set aside, and we paid. Then we waited while the girl made the guys sub who ordered after us. She made his sub and our third sub together. We waited much longer than we needed to for her to complete our order. One mistake we made (other than coming here) was to say "yes" to the vinegar and oil on the subs. She SATURATED our subs with it, and by the time we got home (we live in Ferndale) the bread was soggy and gross. Probably the worst sub I've ever had. We won't be back. read more
