I went to Mr. corn beef on 8 Mile Rd. in Ferndale about a month ago. I ordered two corned beef sandwiches two large corn beef at $20 a sandwich. The first sandwich was cheese only no mustard on an onion roll. The second order was a large corned beef with everything separate everything, separate the bread separate both Swiss and American cheese separate the corned beef give me thousand island on the side for the extra price that they charge for the thousand island give me some mustard and give me two corn beef, eggrolls. The person was half listening. The price was over $50. I waited about 15 minutes and when I got my order, I looked at it and they had done exactly what I told them not to do on the sandwich that I asked for everything to be separate because I don't like soggy bread so I wanted to keep my bread separate. I wanted to keep my onion roll separate so I could toast it when I got home, but they gave it to me full sandwich bread on top of everything and when I let them know that they started talking back at me and as I was trying to tell them what they did wrong they weren't listening and they walked away. I hear ya, see how can you hear me if you're walking away I was so angry because it's not the first second third fourth or fifth time that they've gotten my order wrong and I had to stand there and make them get it right but this time was the worst time because the guy at the window got mad at me when I asked him. Do y'all answer the phone I've been calling Y'all over a period of weeks and you never answer the phone so he just went back there and did what he wanted to. I was so angry. I will never go back there again. Never when I got the sandwich. I had to go to another Coney Island just to get an onion roll to put on my sandwich. It was the nastiest sandwich that I've ever had from there, I had to make them give me the thousand islands that they had already charged me extra for, and I swear, as I have promoted them for being a black own restaurant with good corned beef, I will let everybody know how disrespectful those young people were at the window to disrespect me and yet charge me $50 for two sandwiches. I will never go back there again and ever give them a chance to disrespect me again good riddance since your disrespect means more to you than listening to your customers. I screamed " I am tired of this shit take this back and get my order right now or give me my money back. Never again. Not me. Several times, same shit. No more. $50 for 2 sandwiches in this economy. I'm not one to complain let alone write a review, but I just couldn't let this one go. I ordered $70 worth of food and have never been so disappointed in what I received. I ordered 3 reubens an order of wings and 2 bags of fries. I had been looking forward to sandwich all day because I knew I where I was going. My sandwich was dry, there was a small amount of saurecrougt, nearly any Russian dressing, and the meat looked old when I opened my sandwich. Not only that, the fries were horrible. Probably the best corned beef I have ever had. Expensive, but worth it. My mom and I were craving Corned beef and saw really good yelp reviews for this place, so decided to drop in and try it out. We were taken aback by the prices, but went with it anyway and I loved it. They give you a TON of meat, on the sandwich I got anyway, and it tasted amazing. The fries were great and so were the pickles. It seems like a lot of people may have been driven away because of price hikes, which they acknowledge on the door in the restaurant, but it remains and probably will always be, way easier and cheaper to buy a corned beef sandwich out rather than cook one yourself, so no complaints from me. read more

Delicious and beyond Satisfied!!! The beauty was huge! I could only eat half and could have shared my half. The cost definitely matched up to the taste and size of the sandwich! I consider myself a corned beef expert. I consider it an easy food to make. Boil water drop the brisket in for four hours and serve it hot. The beef was rubbery which tells me they did not boil it long enough or it was cooked twice. The flavor was decent but not amazing. I am not sure if they brine their own meat but if they do it needs to be in longer. Who toasts rye bread unless you ask for a Rueben? This was not horrible but I didn't ask for that. I was looking forward to a simple sandwich with mustard brisket and soft rye bread. Didn't happen. The last touch was the old dill pickle Quarter spear. It's comfort food. Reuben's in particular, are my fav as I love sauerkraut. The Reuben I ordered from Mr. Corned Beef was just ok. The beef didn't have the taste of pickling to me. I could not taste the brine or spices. To my palette, it tasted like a regular beef sandwich. The sauerkraut was scarce; and the bread seemed to be soft toasted instead of grilled. Overall, the sandwich wasn't bad, it was a huge sandwich for the price. It just didn't remind me of a classic Reuben. The service was fast and the staff were helpful. Disappointing. First I want to say, I absolutely love both corned beef and pastrami. So I know what to expect in taste when it comes to good hot corned beef or pastrami sandwich. I purchased the Mr. Pastrami (extra meat) sandwich with swiss cheese and thousand island dressing on and onion roll ($14). They only offer carryout, so I ordered it to go. The whole ride home I kept thinking "that does not smell like pastrami". It smelled a lot like garlic bologna to me, not pastrami. So I got home I sat down to eat it. The sandwich was huge, a mountain of meat! I pulled some of the meat away from the sandwich to taste, it was still warm... and just as I thought, it did not taste like "real" pastrami. It taste like a warmed up cold cut which, I guess, is supposed to vaguely taste like pastrami when it's cold, but doesn't resemble the taste of pastrami at all when heated. Also, the swiss cheese is not swiss cheese, it taste like imitation American cheese except its white in color. It did not taste appetizing at all. Finally getting a moment to write a quick review. This is now my most favorite corned beef restaurant (although Hygrade Deli is a very close 2nd). The food here is amazing! I love the fact that they don't have too much on the menu, but just enough for me at least. It's carry out only, but I could actually see a problem with seating if they did offer it because they'd be super crowded all the time! Surprisingly, their smoked turkey is probably the best turkey sandwich I've had next to my own (and now I have to think if I've even tried the corned beef yet ). Service by their employees is SO friendly! When I get deli sandwiches in the city, I make sure to go out of my way to visit this establishment. The meat was tender and not dry A little under seasoned for my taste but was good. The customer was was wonderful. The cashier was very friendly and attentive. When she took my order she repeated back to make sure it was correct. The inside was plain but clean. They also have a TV for your viewing pleasure while waiting for your order. Would I return? My husband and father in law drove to this spot to order after they chose not to answer their phone. That should have been a sign. They ordered 4 sandwiches, 2 corned beef and 2 Reuben's. They arrived home with 2 roast beef sandwiches and 1 Rueben. They had to go back and have the place correct their orders. They said the woman there was quite rude, definitely it happy to be there. Then when they finally returned with the correct sandwiches, they tasted gross. The Rueben tasted like it had American cheese and had no flavor. How does a Rueben have no flavor? My only thing I would change next time would be ordering it and ask for my food not to be wrapped in the plastic to keep it warm. I tried the corned beef 2 for 1 deal. Decent size, 1/3 to 1/2 lb. The only negative is: the meat was dry, although many places thin slice here to hide the toughness. My problem is that I've eaten at Kosher delis in Manhattan, like Katz's. Thick hand sliced, moist, pastrami & CB. No comparison to anything in Michigan.
