    Small Club On A Sub

We love a great sandwich and this place checked all the boxes. Generous servings of meat/cheese on a delicious, fresh sub roll. Will definitely return.

Went in for a free hook and ladder deal through T Mobile. Had to buy something, anything, in order to get the medium sandwich. They are located on Gratiot avenue just north of 696 and the famous National Coney. Not a lot of parking, but ample of they're not swamped it looks as if they don't do any dine in here, it was pretty desolate and table-less. Had to travel to Detroit for 23 hours, was starving after not eating all day, so I sought this place out for a sandwich and bag of chips. The interior was clean, the two female staffers were pleasant for the most part. The sandwich was made hot and fresh and was eaten at my Detroit HQ. The sandwich was delicious and hit the spot. You really can't go wrong here, it's a hot sub with lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise. There was no 3 alarm fire, but there was a 3 alarm hunger, and the firehouse sub hook and ladder hit the spot.

I've been seeing the commercials on television and also driving by this location but I would never stop. Yesterday I I tried them out for the 1st time. I ordered 2 Smokehouse beef and cheddar brisket combos. The total came up to $28 and some change. Wow!!! The sub wasn't bad but for the price it wasn't worth it. I won't be going hear again.

Omg the Steamer sub is fantastic. Only complaint is there was no meat at the end of the bread , probably a new person working. This place will not disappoint you if u like subs. The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff is very helpful & patient if you have never been there.

    Lunch. Firehouse hero!

Tasteless skimpy subs, once was enough. Overpriced and not very good. Don't waste your time or money.

The inside has an old-school diner vibe, which could be charming, but the overall experience didn't quite match. Staff interaction was neutral--not unfriendly, but not particularly welcoming either. My husband ordered the Lynne sandwich and I had the Adele, along with a bowl of matzo ball soup. The soup was definitely the highlight--flavorful and comforting--but at nearly $9 for a bowl, it felt overpriced for what you get. Unfortunately, the sandwiches didn't live up to expectations. The meat was piled in the center of the bread, leaving the ends with little to nothing in each bite, which made them feel poorly constructed and just overall mediocre. We were also surprised by the number of upcharges--extra for toasting the bread, extra for grilling, and even a 3% fee for using a credit card. It all adds up quickly. For two sandwiches and a shared soup, our total came to just over $40, which felt steep given the quality. It's disappointing because we wanted to like this place, but the high prices just didn't align with the food or experience. Unfortunately, we'll likely be crossing Uncle Harry's off our list.

It has a cute, classic diner feel--nothing recently updated, but it was clean and comfortable. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, which we appreciated. We brought our three young kids and ordered them each a kids meal: chicken tenders with fries, spaghetti, and a cheeseburger with fries. The portions were generous and we even had leftovers, but at $10 per kids meal, the pricing felt pretty steep. We started with the bread basket and pickles, which were both good. My husband ordered the Monterey Jack chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. He first tried the chicken noodle soup but thought it had a sour aftertaste, so he switched to the beef barley, which unfortunately wasn't much better. His chicken entrée had good flavor, but it was just one thin, butterflied chicken breast. I ordered the New Yorker with fries, which I enjoyed--it was solid and satisfying. When the bill came to around $80, it just didn't feel justified for a deli/diner-style meal. Overall, the food was okay, but the pricing felt high for what you get--especially for a family outing. I might stop in again solo for a sandwich, but we likely won't be bringing the whole family back, mainly due to the cost of the kids meals.
