Another favorite haunt for my mom. It's right at the start of the nautical mile in Saint Clair Shores off Jefferson Avenue. I don't recall what was here when I was a kid at all. We went here a while back. My mother gets their chicken, lemon rice soup, and an eggplant portobello sandwich. My step likes their butternut squash soup with a lakeshore salad. A St. Clair Shores staple, for the last 17+ years. Always friendly service and they have this place run like a well oiled machine. Love the online ordering feature to pick up inside. You can easily customize your sandwich with the online ordering. During the pandemic they were closed on the inside and bringing orders out to cars. Did this a couple times and never ran into any issues. I used to solely order the Shores Caesar sandwich. Recently I have noticed the quality in the chicken has gone downhill and is a bit rubbery now, so I try to avoid anything with grilled chicken. From what I understand, the soups are not homemade. However, all the soups I have tried are great and so I am ok with this. My two favorite soups they carry are the chicken and dumpling and butternut squash. I would recommend trying any of the other soup offerings too. Lately, I have been exploring other sandwich options, trying to try something new every time I go. Some notable sandwiches: Eggplant Portobello, Caprese, Bahn Mi, & Cordon Bleu, Egg Salad. There are so many other great options to try though, like the Southwest Panini, which is very popular, and the Apple Sammie. My boss has been RAVING to me about Nautical Deli for what seems like forever. Due to the hours (aka - closing when I'm at work) it's harder for me to stop in. Have no fear though: I finally got to try it! My boss was kind enough to treat me to lunch before a week off of work. She told me what she recommends (cream of broccoli soup and the Cuban) and I ended up ordering the Turkey Reuben. For around $30 we got three sandwiches with chips and pickles and a cup of soup. Not a bad deal! Everything here is made fresh and very filling! I loved my Reuben! Very flavorful and the the grilled rye bread was a nice touch. My boyfriend devoured his Cuban sandwich pretty quickly so I'd say he loved it too! My only real complaint was we ordered on the phone and weren't very sure of where to pick up. We went to the main counter (I think it's where you order) and the employee was a bit snarky about that. The pickup window was not labeled and it did not have a sign. They have a rotating menu, which can be bothersome if you have a craving for a particular item, and it's only made on certain days, however, they always have great food, the orders are correct, and the service is good too. The only reason for not receiving 5 stars is the price-point. You will easily walk out of here spending $12+ for a sandwich and soup. read more

I was skeptical getting a small cup of au jus but it was just enough. The second time, I tried their Cuban with added salami & red onions. Again, not bad, I've got better at other places. I've been to Nautical Deli many times, but this past time was with a friend for lunch, on a Saturday. They're on a busy street and don't have a huge lot, so parking can sometimes be a little bit of a challenge. That said, it's worth it. They have a large dining area, and a few outdoor tables as well. You order at the counter, receive a pager, grab a drink if you ordered one and sit at a table until the pager buzzes. I ordered the apple hammie without mustard (I don't care for anything on my sandwiches), and macaroni salad, and my friend ordered the cuban. They were delicious. Had the cuban sandwich. The description said it came with roast pork. They put barbecued pork on the sandwich, which is not what a cuban sandwich is supposed to come with. With all the diverse ingredients, all I could taste was barbecue sauce. This is not a cuban sandwich! Any dish with barbecue sauce? It's neutralized and overpowered by the barbecue sauce. Used to come here weekly when I lived in the area. Great premium sandwich shop with a pretty expansive menu including vegan and healthier options. I recently came back and the experience was very similar to ones I've had years ago, which was encouraging to enjoy the consistency that you don't always see. Similar to a Panera where you can get soup and a sandwich, you're able to customize your lunch with ease. My favorite is the Guido, which as the name suggests is your traditional Italian style sandwich. I get the full sandwich and then pick a table with a good view of the mural of the coastline on the wall and enjoy my lunch. This place is so up my alley. I was on my way to an event on this side of town and hadn't had time to eat before I left. I knew I was going to eat later on in the evening, but my stomach wouldn't have let me go that long. I quickly yelped what was in the area, and this came up, which was a great decision on my part. I had secretly wanted a sandwich, but knew that would be too much for me at that given moment. The place seems to have fresh food, and it doesn't cost that much, which makes it even better! (I mean, why should I have to pay twice as much for fresh stuff, right?) I also liked that the place has plenty of seating here as well. Not all the tables were clean, so I was kind of bummed about that, but the place is nicely laid out. The parking was plentiful and it's easy to spot from the road, which is a bonus!
