I was really disappointed with RJ's Corned Beef. The sandwiches are overpriced for what you get, and the quality just doesn't justify the cost. Front counter staff does not seem to want to be there. I Don't know if it's out of obligation, family ties or desperation of a job. Either way a lesson in good personable Customer Service is much needed. There was NOTHING special about the corned beef or the overall sandwich--it tasted like something you could pick up from the deli counter at your local grocery store for a fraction of the price . Save yourself some time and money keep driving. I expected a fresh, flavorful sandwich from a place known for corned beef, (apparently this is new ownership ) but instead, it was bland, uninspired, and completely underwhelming. Today being the 22nd of July, 2026 @ 5:23 pm I unfortunately put my trust into their commercial advertised this pasted weekend and anticipated the day for them to reopen. I drove from Sterling Heights excited on trying their Corn Beef sandwich, upon arrival the cook on the grill did not seem to be having a good day, looked me in my eyes with a mud attitude and didn't speak. The lady on the register DJdeli was smiley and very pleasant I ordered a $21.99 Corn beef sandwich along with a whole pickle priced @ $2.50 totaling $25+, surprised receiving it, preparing to eat it in my car. I was very disappointed with both !. The sandwich was one of the worst sandwich I've ever purchased, having better from the Coney Island, especially for the price I paid being it had no slices put together with dry broken pieces, tasteless, No flavor whatsoever with the Swiss cheese on only one half of the sandwich, as I was trying to eat it, it keep breaking apart all over my car and the pickle was old half soggy dented in. I did try to request an exchange or refund for the pickle and he (the cook), Interrupted the conversation with the clerk stated at me with an sassy nasty attitude I'm not giving you back a refund, You can get another pickle. I'm like ok thank you, the one he exchanged was smaller in the same condition, turning bad as well. I will take this an experience to not listen to over hyped up commercials and stick with what I know and those who know and miss the bad demeanor and unworthy over price Corn beef with the nasty service provided by their cook and invest in a menu that I won't throw away the remaining of the purchase!. What a great sandwich. Tried the "Lozen" - stacked high with corned beef paired with the sweet and smoky sauerkraut was amazing on the sandwich. Highly recommend trying. The potato salad as a side was really good. There homemade pickles are very good. Service was very helpful. Very clean inside with a few small tables to eat there. This place is recommended to me as one of the best places to go to get a corned beef sandwich. So I stuck to my guns and got the most ordered corned beef. I asked the gentleman that helped me who was very friendly and attentive what sandwich it was, and pointed it out. It was good but I wouldn't say that it was the best that I've ever had. The corned beef itself was probably overcooked? It just seemed to be falling apart and molded onto my sandwich. The taste was good but there was something that was just off. The place is small and has good online presence, the kitchen area is exposed and everything looks neat and clean even though it seems like there's a lot of stuff there. Honestly, I wanted to love this place. For $18 the Reuben was ok. It wasn't the best I've had or the worst. It has a lot of meet, which you'd think would be good but it doesn't have a good balance of flavor for that reason. I've had better for less money. read more

RJ's is one of the better delis I've ever been to. The sandwiches here are top notch, and I appreciate RJ's backstory. RJ worked at Lozen's Meat and Deli for many years prior to its closure. He continued his passion by opening RJ's 2 years ago. His brother and father help out at the deli, as well. The chicken, pasta, and potato salads are made in-house and are all great. I'm personally not a fan of sauerkraut, but RJ's is delicious. It's sweeter than your typical sauerkraut, and has turkey bacon in it. The pickles are made in-house, too. The only items RJ's outsources are Michigan made products, Better Made chips and Faygo soda, and cheesecake made by his cousin's company, Cheesecake Joy. All of the sandwiches include freshly sliced meat. The best seller is the "Lozen's Reuben," which is made with the original Lozen recipe. The Watts is another solid sandwich, but the Lozen's is the best Reuben I've had yet. RJ's Italian is also stellar, and one of the best subs I've had locally. If you're a sandwich lover, RJ's is a must try. read more

First time trying RJ's Corner Beef Deli. It was a cute little carryout diner. The staff was friendly and RJ introduced himself when we picked up our food. We ordered a 1/2 corn beef and 1/2 pastrami sandwich on Marble Rye with Swiss and The Watts on an onion roll. The amount of meat was both impressive and delicious. I would highly recommend trying a sandwich from here, we will be returning. The prices were a little high which is the only negative thing I could say, but most prices are currently high so nothing more to say about that. read more

This is "the Watts" cornbeef and pastrami sandwhich. I got it on rye bread toasted. Meat was sliced super thin, which was great. It was probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Definitely worth checking out if you are a fan of cornbeef. A long time ago, I worked in the Clinton Township, just after graduating from high school. My dad worked just down the street. We got to take lunches together and our favorite place was in the Regional shopping Center at 15 Mile and Gratiot. Behind the Montgomery Wards was a butcher shop that made the most delicious Rueben Sandwiches. It was called Lozens. Over the years, my job moved up the street to work with my dad and we still went there. They were delicious and I got to know the Lozen family kids, Jeff and Jill. The dad was John, though maybe Jim. Over the years things change, my career mainly but also MWards closed and many businesses left and demolished, Lozens was one of these. I know live in Oxford, a hour away. Heard of a new Corn Beef Rueben place and have been wanting to go here. Well. My sister and I went. When looking at the menu, something clicked. It was on the menu staring me in the face the 'Lozen Rueben'. I had to ask for clarity and confirmation. Indeed it was named after Mr Lozen whom employed a fine young teenager who turned into a adult and long story short modeled his store front and menu to what I havent had in 20+ years. The sandwich was EPIC, OFF THE CHART DELICIOUS. THE CONVERSATION WAS EVEN BETTER! I may be a hour away but I will be back and so will be sister. I got a new corned beef place! Had the Watts sandwich on an onion roll with Swiss. Ok I changed a few things from the original. It was the perfect amount of Russian dressing and cole slaw. Definitely enjoyed the corned beef. I normally don't get pastrami and this was the only knick--it's more deli like with very thin shavings which not a fan... but that's my fault. I just returned from NY's Katz and their pastrami is better than their corned beef. So I'll only eat theirs. Back to RJs, I will order again! Lots of meat and flavor. For any mile-high corned beef craving, this is your spot. The Bread Basket franchises have been disappointing for years, and this is the cure. Tender, tasty corned beef, stacked outrageously, and so so good. Can be a bit pricey, depending on the size, but a $20 sandwich is 5 servings in my household - four quarters of a sandwich, and then all the extra meat that fell out for a hash or omelet afterwards. Excellent tasting corned beef on these sandwiches and in generous portions! The Sweet & Smoky Sauerkraut adds a nice tang to the sandwich along with the Russian dressing. The McCoy Sliders (3 for $14.99) comes with the dressing, sauerkraut and a pickle - a nice lunch box meal. The "Lozen's Reuben" is tasty and filling, almost too big for the rye bread we ordered with it, but it turned out to be just right. Pasta salad was excellent-the meat, cheese and veggies were sizeable enough (not too small) where you could actually taste them with the dressing vs only taste dressing with a little bit of the salad at other deli's. RJ's also offers a good selection of other salads, Michigan made products like chips and snacks from Better Made, Faygo and Vernor drinks, other cold and hot sandwiches, hot dogs, and mini desserts. After finishing this sandwich, I can no longer support the claim; "Arby's, we have the meats!" I can tell you they don't. I'm not sure how long this place has been open, but I've worked down the street for almost eight years and finally saw it on Yelp and decided to grab lunch here. I ordered The Watts, and it comes with pastrami, corned beef, cheese, slaw and thousand island on an onion roll. If there had to be one complaint it's that there's too much meat for this onion roll, but I would have to be crazy to complain about that. It's definitely a messy sandwich but it is so good. Usually, one would not get overly excited over deli meat. But this is not like grabbing processed and packaged junk at the supermarket. This was fresh, delicious and such a great surprise. It comes with a pickle and that was a great way to cap off my lunch. I shall return! read more

He milks the free segments on TV and still does not pay his bills. Thw food is not all that great either. I called him about paying his bill and he hung up on me. The good: nice people, they only sell Better Made potato chips (if you are not from Michigan you may not of had these and I am sorry for your loss), and the corned beef is excellent.
