Enthusiasm. I think that best describes Jersey Mike's. The place was packed during the grand opening, but the line was impressively quick. The major hurdle was finding a place to sit because people wanted to linger. Of course there were at least 6 people behind the counter and I'm sure that helped keep things moving, but it was the enthusiasm of that team that made the line and the relatively short wait bearable. This is the first shop from this chain open in Billings and with a competitor shop not too far away, they seem to have found a way to distinguish themselves. The subs are available in three sizes plus the option to forego the bread for the carb-watchers. I chose that option and was pleasantly surprised at the generous amount of food -- there was enough that I didn't miss the bread and wasn't ready for a nap after finishing it. I'm okay with that and I'm okay with Jersey Mike's for a change of pace. read more

Outstanding sandwiches! A couple of warnings though. Don't go during rush times right now. Go before 11am or in between 1pm & 4pm. Also, this isn't Subway and operates differently so just be aware. Lastly, cold subs and hot subs are treated totally different and go thru different assembly lines (cold subs up front, hot subs in the back). Tip #1: Order one of the HOT SUBS "as is". They'll give you a ticket and take your name. Cut around the people designing their cold subs and go pay then sit down. They'll call your name when the HOT SUB is done and you won't be stuck in line. Tip #2: Come at 10:30am. Fresh meats and cheeses for each sandwich cut right in front of you on the cold subs (one reason it's SLOW). They will offer "Mike's Way" on the cold subs you order (lettuce, onion, tomato, spices and "The JUICE"...vinegar & oil) which is quite good but messy and in my opinion, should only be ordered if you plan to eat at the restaurant (only eight 4-person tables) or within a couple minutes of ordering as it will ruin the bottom bun if you take to long to chow down. Many of the cold subs taste basically the same. The stand outs are the Tuna, the BLT (#1 on the Secret Menu), and the Italian. Other than these 3 & the Turkey, I wouldn't mess with any of the other cold subs. Every hot sub is fantastic with the exception of the #44 (Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak)... way too much Buffalo sauce and Blue Cheese dressing... messy and overpowering... yuck!. Mini sandwiches (only available in cold subs) average around 600 calories while regulars push 900 or so. Giant's are double the regular. My favorites: #17 Famous Philly for hot (as is, no additions), and #1 BLT (not on menu) for cold (I add cheese). But the absolute best sandwich on the menu is the #55 Big Kahuna Chicken Cheese Steak.... "as is"... don't mess with perfection! As I've mentioned they have a secret menu but stick to the basics for now as this new shop and its employees get things down. Be patient! As is always the case in Billings, new restaurants get bombarded for the first few months. read more

Really good sub. The best sub I've had in town actually. Had the number eight club sub and it was absolutely delicious regular size it had thinly sliced meats I got it the Mike's way without tomatoes it was flavorful and delicious. Round two. Little bit of a kerfuffle where they miss placed my online order they expedited my order but accidentally made it incorrectly. They apologized and fixed by making me a brand new sub the correct way very happy. So still five stars in my book. Round 3. WOW! Knocked me off my chair still the best sub I've ever had. read more

Sandwiches are the best, aren't they? There are endless possibilities and combinations that are sure to make you do the dance of happy, tasty, joy when eating something crazy delicious. Jersey Mike's is spot freaking on. I'm from NY, and I remember getting my sammies with red onion, olive oil and red vinaigrette, and oregano. There's nothing like that. If I could give 0 stars, I would. We arrived to a line out the door, which I assumed was a good sign- that the food was good and that's why so many people were here. I quickly discovered it was not quality of food for the long line, but rather gross incompetence of the staff working, all of whom appeared to be 18 and under. We stood in line for 30 minutes to order, which came in the form of a kid employee trying to expedite the process by coming in front of the counter to take orders. I asked for the #26 with no lettuce or tomato and was told I'd need to tell the vegetable employee because the kid taking my order "couldn't remember." We stood in line another 30 mins AFTER ordering waiting for them to prepare our food, all the while they were calling people out of order to make food, while no less than 6 different instances getting people's orders wrong or forgetting them all together. One kid finally asked what I ordered and I told him #26 and he couldn't articulate if it had been made or yet to be made. I was then informed that my sandwich had been made 20 mins before (now cold and soggy) and discovered they didn't consult my opinion on toppings as they did with every other customer- they had made it and neglected to tell me. The only saving grace was a woman in front of us had a coupon so my sandwich was free and we only had to buy 1. I understand this place is brand new, but the service was completely unacceptable- there is no manager here helping things go smoothly (correctly) and if there is, they appear to be too distracted with high school algebra to focus on their job (or do math and take orders correctly). We won't be coming back any time soon- I'd pick Pickle Barrel or even Subway before coming back. Incompetent staff, disastrous results. I implore everyone to save your money and patience. read more

Service was awful yesterday (9/8/2024). Line was almost to the door when we arrived, no big deal. We waited, and the whole time all but two staff members (the guy slicing meat and a young girl) were messing around. The young kid doing veggies slapped a bunch of lettuce on the sandwich and it fell off, so he scooped it up and threw back in the lettuce bin. The next kid wasn't even trying to wrap sandwiches and kept ripping open the bags because he would smack them several times against the counter. As he was "trying" to wrap a sandwich, it completely fell apart and he sat there laughing as the lady waiting for it stared at him disgusted (along with the rest of the customers). The next sandwich he dropped half of on the ground, and the older man working beside him said "oh it's fine, customers don't care what it looks like, as long as you have a smile on your face". And then they all stood there for several minutes laughing so hard about it that they couldn't continue working. When they finally got it together again, my friends sandwich was gluten free due to celiacs. Their "cleaning" regime for cross contamination was to sloppily wipe off the counter with a dirty rag. She got sick not long after eating. My family owns a sandwich shop also, and the way these employees acted was uncalled for. We will not be visiting this location again. read more

I've ate at Jersey Mikes in other states, and I'm a fan. That said, I'm not a fan of the local one. Not yet, anyway. I've been 3 times so far, and every time it has been obvious they are not ready for prime time. Loooooong waits, confused looking kids behind the counter, doing not much while customers twiddle their thumbs waiting for service/food. And... the sandwich tastes... off. Dunno, maybe too much spices or a different mix. It just tastes different. I'm giving them time, and I'll adjust this review if they adjust their process and get it together, cause I've had some great sandwiches in the past, at other stores. After 2 subsequent visits I've raised my review to 4 stars. Still new kids everywhere, but both sandwiches were delicious. read more

After having a bad experience at a Jersey Mike's in Utah, my husband and I decided to give the one in Billings a chance today...what a mistake that was! The SERVICE was HORRIBLE! After having our order taken (I ordered the #7 and my husband ordered the #13), we watched the 5 employees behind the counter run around like chickens with their heads cut off but none of them were making any sandwiches. About 15 minutes after we ordered, one of the servers came out and called my name, handed me a HOT sandwich and walked away (the #7 is cold Turkey and Provolone....hmmm) without saying anything about our other sandwich. Sooooo....I walked up to the counter and asked the girl that was cutting bread about it (the same one who took our order 15 minutes before) and she GIGGLED and told me "oh, I think someone else walked away with your sandwich" and then GIGGLED again and turned back to cutting bread! OMG!!! I tried explaining to her that WE did not get the sandwich and she would have to make a new one....but she just kept giggling and cutting bread! I found the manager and asked him if he could please get us the sandwich that we ordered....he went behind the counter and told the same girl to make a new sandwich....and then had to tell 3 other people the same thing because no one seemed to understand that we NEVER got the sandwich. I think that it is quite ironic that they have the following saying on their bag "We don't think a sub should be measured in inches long, or seconds 'till served. A sub should be a measure of the people who made it, and the ingredients they used to make it with." All in all...our sandwiches were a measure of the service and it was a horrible experience, and we will never go back there again! read more

I really like Jersey Mike's. They where really busy where me and my family came it to eat. I ordered a #9 but the girl messed up and made me a #13. I didn't say anything about it just ate tHe sub. Slow service. When I say SLOW SERVICE, I mean these guys do not have their shit together. 5 minutes between every customer, even if you're a couple. Then you wait even longer while the ditz doing the 3 toppings fumbles every tomato after constantly touching her hair. Cashier has a nice tattoo tho so you get 1 star. But your manager and tweedle dees in the back are doing inventory count while theres 50 people in line. Being a kitchen manager in my past, this is not quality anything for a price that passes every single sandwich place we have here! You could get better food, service, and far more options from subway, jimmy johns, pickle barrel and the like. read more

I travel to the billings area fairly often from out of town, and Jersey Mike's since opening has been where I grab a bite to eat. Employees are always friendly and the food has been good, except for the last visit. I will not be returning. The quality of food was pretty Appalling, I decided to try a chicken sandwich and while the presentation was as if it was manhandled, I could get past that but I couldn't get past the fact that it tasted as if the grill had not been cleaned. The other sandwich we had was edible but was in no sort how we have received it before. read more

Love it that they slice the meat right in Fromt if you. I always get the Italian. Super good. I don't recommend saving this for the next day If you get it mikes way. They put oil and vinegar on the sandwich (delicious) but it can get a little soggy, although they cut the bread small on the bottom to minimize. Love this place. read more

I have always LOVED these subs, and I know the BILLINGS store is new ... but. There seems to be a theme in the early reviews that this outlet needs more work. Tonight, I ordered 4 sandwiches to go. They got 2 right. On one, they forgot the Mikes style I asked for. On the second, I asked for a #44, which on their board is a toasted buffalo chicken. I got some weird combo of a beef philly cheese steak with a sauce I couldn't even recognize. Kinda a wonder, since there seems to be a plethora of staff behind the counter. I counted 7, with 3 clustered around the one cash register. I guess they were waiting for me to arrive. One girl was the only one making sandwiches. This outlet needs a stronger manager, and more intense training. Way too much socializing and "slap and tickle" going on behind the counter. Pay more attention to the customer and what they ask for. These subs are GREAT! Don't mess up a good thing with bad service and faulty processes. If things don't change, this place will suffer the same fate for the same reasons as the Steak and Shake that failed across the street. Please fix this! We don't need yet another Burger King. read more

The subs are good but these guys are struggling. I've eaten at Jersey Mikes in many states and never seen so many staffers touching the process. Management needs to work on more training and explain to the kids that if you drop the spice container or the vinegar bottle on customers sandwiches you shouldn't act like nothing happened. When the tickets say no onions or extra meat you do it. If it's "mikes way" it doesn't mean flood the counter.
