I'm renting a historic, landmark 80+ year old house in downtown Long Beach and the customizations and extras I need done just never end. THANK YOU LORD JESUS FOR JERRY! He is one of the best finds in my 10+ years using Yelp. Jerry is the handyman you never believed existed. I called him on a Monday and on Tuesday he came over. To date Jerry has put together half a dozen pieces of IKEA furniture, installed curtain rods in six windows that have the original paneling (hence very delicate), put together and set up spice racks, installed a flag holder + American flag on my front porch...the list goes on and on. He is a retired man originally from Ohio and is incredibly trustworthy. Jerry now has keys to my home and all I need to do is text him a list of projects and he responds within a few hours confirming when he'll come over. Jerry charges per project instead of per hour and is so incredibly affordable I tip him an extra $20 each time. Really, think about what amount of money is worth getting all those projects done you've been putting off, or saving yourself hours of putting together IKEA furniture. Then halve that amount. So it's TWO days before Christmas, and we bought my daughter this fancy wooden kitchen that no one could figure out how to put together. The struggle was REAL! We wanted to have it built and ready to surprise her Christmas morning. I found Jerry on yelp, and within 2 hours he came to our house and spent a few hours of his evening putting it together. We called Jerry to have a pre-hung door and a security door installed at our house. Unfortunately we discovered extensive termite damage to the wood around the door and what should have been a small, simple, half-day job turned into a two day operation. Thankfully we had the good fortune of calling Jerry and Mike. We've had two other handymen do some work in the past and both were extremely disappointing. We quickly learned that Jerry's excellent reputation on Yelp is VERY well deserved! The price was very reasonable for all the extra work they wound up doing and the work itself was EXCEPTIONAL! I had started to do other stuff around the house and had been planning to work all day while Mike (the guy who did most of the work installing the door) did his thing, but I found myself distracted by the work he was doing. He was so precise, it was seriously amazing to watch! I wound up spending most of the time just watching him work his magic. Both Jerry and Mike were SUPER friendly and polite and were genuinely interested in answering my questions. They also kept cleaning throughout the day making sure debris didn't pile up in or outside of the house, which left the place exceptionally clean when they were done! My window mounted air conditioning unit broke in this extremely hot humid summer. I called Jerry based on the reviews on yelp and he is everything great that everyone says about him. He arrived on time, was professional, did far more than I expected him to: he repaired wood on my window that was split by the last person that installed the old unit, cleaned my window, put an extra layer of padding inside the window to keep air from leaking. He repaired area damaged by leaking plumbing repairing the drywall and painting. I separately contracted the plumbing repair. He will not attempt work for which he is not qualified.
