Denis his colleague showed up to move the washer/dryer and inspect the floor, and determined it was not level (it was VERY uneven). Denis gave me several options for how to proceed. They took the time to show me the support frame under the floor and explain why it wasn't level, and what they could do to level it as much as possible. I had hired Pro Handyman Service to address the floor only, but after they were finished and placed everything back the way it was, Denis asked to see a wash cycle on the washing machine to see if the floor fixed the machine as well - it worked great, no more intense shaking! What went wrong after that is what I've found since I actually got a proper company to do the work. 1. The floor was put in place without plumbing under the house 2. The floor was very unstable and bouncy 3. The drain he connected wasn't even glued to the drain line 4. The cement was placed incorrectly 5. He used some sealing mat4tial that he slapped with a brush that is actually not meant for shower. Then he starts putting up the hardiebacker cement boards without even putting up waterproofing paper!!! In the process he's complaining that I'm checking his work and asking what he's doing as if I don't have a right to make sure the job is done right. He finally comes to work one day to so called continue. Without telling me he took his tools and left and blocked my number!!! Overall an incompetent liar. I suppose I should thank God for having this happened since if he had continued all the leaks would have destroyed my house. He came to see me the next day, started to prep the super uneven concrete, just work work work. Great attitude, humble, communicative. 2. Job needed to be done over the course of two days and he didn't even request for payment on the first day. For this, I paid half of the estimate he gave me and material fee. Who wouldn't? 3. Work came out better than I expected. WAY better, and for a fraction of the cost other people gave us. Yes, in this economy I would like to support as much local small business as possible, but we live on a budget too. Also please note, I KNEW the grout color wouldn't match the original since (a) the floor is original (we were lucky to even have spare tiles), (b) i'm just lazy like that and (c) our original grout is dirty af and it can be easily changed :P Overall, very friendly and humble character, great communication and keeps you posted. He asked for photos, clearly explained his rates and 2-hour minimum (very reasonable), and was happy to take on the work. Egor is both professional and extremely skilled at a wide range of things. He quickly completed the initial task (trimming some plywood and fitting a dishwasher), but also noticed and fixed a dishwasher installation issue that another company had messed up. When he investigated some water damage on floor tiles that I was worried about, he discovered it was much more extensive than I expected, affecting not just the floor tiles but the drywall as well. Egor explained everything to me clearly and showed me exactly what the issues were and the solutions for them. He had all the right equipment and expertise to handle it properly, from moisture assessment to restoration work and mold prevention. He put in a lot of work to track down matching floor tiles that were no longer available (originally bought almost 10 years ago).
