This place has been around for decades; long before there was even a Zagat's to rate it. It's always been a go-to place for Lehman college students and MTA employees. A place for a cheap quick meal. I doubt the same owners are the ones I remember from the 70's and 80's. Why the 4 stars? It's nice to see a truly neighborhood restaurant that survived Covid is still around plus it is bigger and more inviting than before. I ordered a plain slice. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect for $3.50! There was another pleasant surprise; it was fairly large (see the photo with a USD for comparison), hot, crisp, and good. If you're not from NYC, be prepared to enjoy a giant slice of pizza (that you must fold because that's the proper way to eat a NYC slice of pizza). I plan on visiting this shop every time that I visit Bedford Park. Pro-Tip: 1. You can't go wrong with cheese pizza but they have many options. Chicken on Pizza is a great option too. 2. I was looking for a place that we could online order a couple solid, reasonably priced pies in the area and Jerome Pizza was the highest rated in the area (and I could order delivery right on the Yelp app). I didn't wait too long to order. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a mere $16 for a LARGE pizza. I ordered two with a delivery time between 45-60 minutes. I was SHOCKED when I got a call 30 minutes later saying that the delivery had arrived! One really nice touch is the delivery person didn't just drop it with the security guy desk-- he waited outside my building with the two pies in the insulated bag until I walked up to him (so they didn't lose any heat in the time it took me to get downstairs). The pizza was piping hot even when I got back to my apartment, and when I say these slices were huge they were HUGE. And just by looking at it, the pizza looked pretty good. At first bite, it was really tasty! A flavorful crust that was chewy and the cheese stayed on! The sauce was a little "one note" but I don't really care about that-- the ratios between crust, cheese, and sauce were awesome. I cannot recommend this place enough for legitimately good pizza at the most reasonable prices I've seen in the city. I wait to order from here again! Been coming to Jerome's Pizza for a very long time. Glad to see the place with a shiny and beautiful facelift. Still under the same great management with the same great tasting pizza, but the space has been expanded with a modern touch. There is plenty of space and the place looks extra clean. My biggest issue before was the small space but they've expanded the real estate. This should definitely encourage more people to eat in as before there was only four tables. Now there are twelve. With two tvs up on the wall and nice decor, eating a slice or two just became more inviting. So come by, enjoy a great slice while supporting the local business. Kind of the new/old hang out place for me to eat around Kingsbridge. I remember the old days of being on campus as a student at Lehman and running here during the breaks to get my pizza vibes on, now as an adult vibes are still great but I feel like the spot and environment have matured in its own way. YOU KNOW, just like a real adult. I like the pizza here, anything from a plain sicilian slice to Grandma slice with chicken or even a beef patty with cheese is the way to go. The beef patty with cheese could probably use more cheese on it, compared to some that I have got at other pizza joints. I came here recently for a last minute quick bite to eat and let me tell you it was horrible! The food was horrible and the service was horrible! I was not greeted when I came into the pizza shop. I went to order my two slices of pizza and I noticed that he was rushing me but because I was starving I decided to stay and get food there. When I got home and looked at the pepperoni and spinach slices I was disappointed once so opened the box. There was five pieces of pepperoni on each slice plus a a little more than a tablespoon of spinach (I checked with an actual tablespoon). At make matters worst the pizza was dry and extra crunchy. It was almost like they put a spoonful of sauce on the pizza. There was not moisture or tomato taste evident on this slice. I had to add my own homemade sauce total bummer. When my Beau got home he laughed at the amount of topping on the plate. Then asked me when did I buy the pizza. He is a really funny guy. He was not to thrilled about this pizza place. The only pro about this place is that it is located next to another train station and it is equally convenient. But, it was not worth the wait for it to be made nor the waste of calories. I've never had a bad slice here. Everyone in Bedford Park has their own favorite pizza spot and some people are fiercely loyal to theirs. Jerome is my old faithful go to. I usually order my slice plain, but will occasionally go for a Sicilian. I think it was be a combo of great crust and a substantial amount of cheese on the pie. It's hard not to compare other places to Jeromes. The quality is high, as it's never oily and doesn't have that too sweet cheap tomato sauce that some places try to pass off. I've been going here for over 20 years, I think. I don't eat pizza a lot but when I do, it's from here. For years the place was a small storefront with a free tables- your typical 80s/90s New York style pizza joint. Recently, they bought the adjacent storefront, that had been vacant for some time. The way they modeled it had a nice wood finish, and it feels very airy and modern. It makes me want to stop in and linger even more. read more

I had to visit this neighborhood 2 days in a row this week, so I made sure to try some of the pizza, since this is NYC, where we have very high expectations of the NY slice. This met them. The plain slice, freshly baked within the hour, and reheated when ordered, had the color you'd want from a NY slice - olden cheese color with hints of brown, just a touch of sauce peeking out near the edge of the slice by the crust, and a firm crust that held the weight of a a fair, well apportioned covering of mozzarella and pizza sauce. I'm horrified by the customer service at this restaurant. My family and I have ordered here multiple times and they have made mistakes but not like today. We ordered using seamless today and were notified that they did not have the majority of our order in stock. We decided to cancel the order. When we called to cancel, he was very rude, and gave me the sense that it was not his problem that they did not have what we wanted and that we should settle for what he suggested, and pay the difference. He did not want to help refund us and insisted we would have to cancel through seamless. Seamless told us to contact the restaurant directly and when we called back he was even more arrogant, said he didnt have time for this, and actually HUNG UP! Great local pizza spot with my only complaint being that I am out of their delivery range. I have yet to try the pasta dishes just because the slices are so solid. The Grandma slice is pretty perfect with chunky pieces of tomato and a nice mix of cheese and garlic. Thin crust and no heavy feeling, it is comfort in square form . Just ordered a plain pie for delivery and it was great. It was thin, it wasn't soggy, very flavorful and the best part it came at the time advertised. I also ordered a sausage and pepper roll and it taste great with a lot of cheese. I just wish they would have sent some marinara to dip the roll in. All in all good food.
