I wish more places had covered picnic areas on site to rent. This would be one of those places. The wind was rough and we couldn't keep our canopy up. The lime on the shower faucet and water pressure in the bathroom could be improved. Vinegar once a week in a baggie on the shower head would be a great start! Otherwise, fabulous facilities as far as updated and cleanliness. The laundry area was clean and priced fairly. We found the facilities, while older pretty nice. Seasonal rates would be welcomed at off season times, but I suppose they aren't interested in extra income for unused sites. All in all though, this is a great place for a week.

The Conf center with sound views was spacious and clean, perfect for accommodating our meetings and activities scheduled during our stay. The bath house was clean and spacious and well maintained. All sites have full hook ups and were in great shape with level concrete pads and picnic tables. There are plenty of water sports activities to enjoy within walking distance to the campground as well as several restaurants and shops.

Pros: Very short walk to the beach - no roads to cross Friendly owners Weekly bingo night - kids were welcome Cheap laundry! Reasonable rates (for the outer banks at least) Friendly regulars Less windy that nearby places due to dunes/trees Ghost crabs and bioluminescent plankton in the sand (on dark nights) Lots to do within a 90min drive north or south Dogs, dogs everywhere Cons: Short spaces / 90 degree back-ins (especially for larger rigs) - you will likely have to ask neighbors to move vehicles (but they were willing to do so) Limited parking for tow vehicles/extra vehicles No fires allowed (even propane fire pits!) - but you can have a fire on the beach Our site had some standing water after a rainy night, but was otherwise mostly dry. Other sites had it worse. Can't pick your site -- they assign it upon arrival Limited amenities (small pool, small playground) but the setting is what you're here for, so ‍ Sand all over everything (but that's beach life) 20-40 min to a grocery store that is not Dollar General or an expensive convenience store Overall we enjoyed our time here. If we came back we might choose a different place due to our rig size, but after reading other reviews and having serious anxiety, it was not as bad as some made it out to be.

When we asked for compensation for the time and inconvenience with the rental it took repeated emails to Kim Dubec (Assistant GM/ Operations Manager) who never responded, to Patrick Lamb (Service Manager) who didn't respond initially and required me to repeatedly ask for a status of my request. I finally forwarded the email chain to Zee Lamb (CEO and Chairman). After that Patrick responded stating the owners denied my request stating 'After discussing your request with the owner, they have decided to deny the refund. The owner confirmed that their family stayed in the unit the week prior and everything, including all appliances and countertop items in the kitchen--which was completely remodeled in May 2024--was working properly. '. I then filed a complaint with The North Carolina Real Estate Commission and the North Carolina Consumer Protection Division and awaiting a decision.

Good luck parking if the other tenant has two cars. We have a 3/4 ton truck also, so use your imagination. Anyway, the point is that you're only renting HALF of what's in the picture. Again, they never mention it in the ad, intentional misadvertising. Outright theft in my book. Aside from that, the bathroom mirror was laying on the floor because the hook broke. Obviously just left there by the cleaning service, since the screw was carefully laced on the counter. This is the 3rd year in a row that we were burnt by Joe Lamb, so I suppose it's our fault. Do NOT trust Joe Lamb. EVER.

Our site #5 had nice shade from trees and was close to the bathhouse. We liked the outdoor showers but they could use a few new wood boards. The sites are a little close to one another but our camper is small so we didn't have issues. It could be trickier with large campers. The owner was friendly and was very understanding when we didn't have enough cash. Make a note: they only take cash or check! There's an ATM at the bank and variety store. Also, they start taking reservations in March and you have to call ahead! Not sure how fast they fill up. They also don't allow fires because of the city ordinances. Renting a golf cart we found to be the best way to explore the island in a day (which is at the intersection as your coming out of the campground). Also, found a great coffee shop in the neighborhood near the campground run by locals. All in all, this was a pretty clean campsite compared to others we have stayed at during our road trip this summer so far. We enjoyed it so much, we are going back this week to stay and look for apartments in Ocracoke.

So really, just pick any space that isn't next to the dumpster. Some folks had their cars parked and were in tents so that may be an option for you. I arrived before dark and had no problem finding my designated space that had a marker indicating my name and my dates of check in and out. After parking, I heated up dinner at my designated picnic table, enjoyed a discreet beer and then climbed the dune (on a designated path!) to watch the ocean waves for a bit. It's beautiful and there was so much room that I had a half mile of sandy beach to myself. Absolutely stunning. There are no lifeguards so be careful if you decide to swim. I did not. A quick shower in the shower cabin (cold water only!) and I locked up for the night. It was quiet and peaceful. In the morning, I was up just before Sunrise and on my way north for the ferry terminal to Hatteras. The campground has a dump station that is free if you're staying here. Other than the showers and some bathrooms, there isn't much else here. [Review 782 of 2025 - 4214 in North Carolina - 24342 overall]

Cons. *All sites are standard, non-electric. *showers would open only on April 1st. *watch out for sand spurs. At a minimum, they're irritating but they can also hurt! We would stay here again if in the area.
