Dr. Ostler explained how cataracts can increase pressure on your eye and suggested cataract surgery which made me FREAK OUT, but after his calm explanation of the procedure and answers to all my questions I booked my surgery. I now call it more of a procedure. You're still awake, but really, really relaxed and pain free. 10-15 minutes then Bam, you're in recovery sipping juice, coke, 7-up whatever - awake but don't drive unless you want to get pulled over by your local enforcement officer. Rest the rest of the day and don't FREAK OUT if your eye is cloudy or blurry. It clears. Just follow Dr. Ostler's instructions. I promise you it's OK. My surgery (procedure) was yesterday and I'm great! YOU WILL BE TOO!

I was told he'd return from his vacation in 11 days. Funny, as I hung up, I realized they didn't even offer me a referral to another eye doctor. I called right back, I got a different person to speak with and she graciously offered me a referral to see Erik M. Ostler, M.D. I called his office and asked if I could make an appointment for tomorrow or any day this week. They asked me if I could come in today at 3:30pm. I looked at the clock in my Jeep and it read 2:30pm. As I tried to compose myself from the sudden shock of being told I could come right in, I said yes, I'll be right there, thank you so much! After a short wait in the waiting room my wife and I were taken back to an exam room. Lauren was so welcoming. She's not your typical nurse's assistant. She was extraordinarily kind and genuinely compassionate. With the way the World spins today, Lauren was a breathe of fresh air. The Golden Rule applies here and she's positively the perfect spokesperson to sell us all on it. She has a remarkable and cheerful attitude! Dr. Erik came in with an attitude that followed Lauren's. Extremely well spoken, kind and articulate. He listened to me and after a thorough examination, a treatment plan was agreed upon. A follow up will be with him tomorrow. I think I've just found my new eye doctor. Thank you Dr. Erik and Lauren. You're both miles above the bar that is set in most doctors offices here in Nampa. Well done! I can't thank you enough for squeezing me in same day, same hour. I was blown away!

I stood there for a while before being greeted, I understand it looked like they were attempting to unpack from recent office move. A simple we will be with you in a moment would have been sufficient. Went through the appointment, nothing to report there, pretty standard. When I was leaving I was given my prescription and paperwork and told to check out in the front. Again waited for someone to assist, all while the phone was ringing off the hook and no one answering them. Didn't talk to anyone about new frames, nothing. Kinda felt like it was the end of the day and they just wanted me on my way. Don't know think I will make a return visit. Bummer!

This was a great visit. ALL the staff were fabulous and very customer oriented. It was so pleasant to be there! I highly recommend this wonderful doctor and his staff!!! The doctor and most of the staff in this practice are really great. They treat you professionally and you can tell they care about their patients. The front office staff is a different story. Their customer service effort definitely needs some work. I had a question regarding my billing and one person seemed like it was a big effort to explain it to me. I also had to return to the office a second day to get a copy of my eye glass prescription that should have been given to me my first visit. An eye drop prescription​ still has not been called into my pharmacy even though the front office staff said it had. Now I will have to contact them again about the eye drop prescription after the weekend. All of this should have been taken care of on my first visit. It feels like there are two reception desks when you walk in so you are not really sure who is supposed to help you. And, the place could use a little background music in the reception area. They're incredibly fast and efficient, but they also take the time to answer any questions or make any changes you might need. As a black and white person, I had expected just what I had read, but it wasn't "quite" as expected. On the day of surgery, I arrived an hour early and got a series of drops, four at a time. They told me it was painless, but the first eye I did experience some discomfort, which lasted about 24 hours. The next eye, I got one more drop of numbing liquid, and that did the trick. Everyone is different, so I can't say for sure if this will happen to you. I will say that the best way to spend the day of surgery is to sleep if you can. Mild pain relief is a must, and the healing process is as fast as described. I had a scratching feeling, but that went away in 24 hours. So far, the results have been great. I chose the best lenses so I could finally get rid of my glasses. Before, I had to wear them for everything. Two weeks out, I don't need glasses for anything, and you won't the next day! That said, it's not all roses. My current vision is around 20-25. Will it improve? Driving at night, I have bright rings around things like traffic lights! Some people say it will go away, while others say you get used to it. I'm a bit nervous because I love to travel, and I'm not comfortable driving at night right now. This is a process, and your mind needs time to adjust to the changes. I'll keep my positive attitude and see where this takes me. Since I haven't seen any other doctors, it's hard to compare, but I don't think you can go wrong with Dr. Grange and his staff. Any results I'm experiencing are a result of cataract surgery and not necessarily the way it was performed.

LASIK would not give me the results I wanted with not needing to wear glasses anymore. Dr Grange sat and explained to me the benefits of lens replacement surgery with full details. I signed up right away and had both eyes done on the same day. I felt no pain through the quick procedure and only felt minor discomfort. That discomfort being staring at a bright light and feeling solution pour into my eyes. Medication given to me had me calm and relaxed so there was no issues. That day I went home and slept most of the day. Next morning, I was able to read my phone with no glasses. My vision improved everyday. My first follow up my vision was 20/20. Second follow up 20/15 and by last follow up my vision was 20/10. Best decision I could have made!
