2.5 stars. I was excited to try this place but was not anticipating the price tag! (No pastry prices are posted.) Three small pastries came to over $17, so heads-up! The pastries themselves were fine, not memorable, and the service was also unremarkable. We asked for an apple turnover and got peach...and what this bakery advertises as turnovers are definitely *not* turnovers! A fine experience, but I would not return -- the price-to-quality ratio just doesn't justify it. Do yourself a favor and go up the hill to Bread, which had better pastries at better prices! read more

The cutest little bakery! My husband and I stopped here for some coffee and pastries to go on our way home from Pagosa Springs, and we are so glad we did! We love the patisserie sweets we got- very messy to eat in the car, but very worth it! Hubby loved his ham and cheese croissant, and the apricot streudel was one of the most delicious things I've ever had the privilege to put in my mouth. The crunch of the caramelized sugar on the outside, the sweet jamminess of the apricot inside, how it all held together so well.....I don't think I've met a baked good that makes a better companion to coffee! We will certainly be back! read more

Stopped in to pick up some pastries and grab a cup of coffee. Got the apricot streusel, Apple streusel, and a ham and cheese croissant, all were PERFECT. LOTS of options, it was hard to decide but the streusels were crispy, relatively sweet, with delicious light filling. The croissant was So FLUFFY yet perfect crisp on the outside. It was a lovely light snack to grab rolling through town after not seeing anything for miles. The interior was gorgeous, felt so quaint, elegant, I would have loved to sit down and stayed a while. Location right on Main Street, convenient. But this lessens availability for parking I didn't see anything obvious other than street parking. Coffee was great. If we ever pass through again would definitely stop and try other things. read more

Pretty place. The dessert bakeries we had were ok. Not my favorite, but I would be willing to try the others for comparison. They weren't bad (cream puff and a chocolate one), we've just had better in other areas. The baguette however was fantastic!! We stopped for herbed butter, meats and cheeses and enjoyed it for lunch! So, don't pass up on the breads ! read more

Visiting from Houston TX and our waiter Victor was amazing and made the experience enjoyable. All the food is hand made from scratch. We had the pleasure of taking a tour of the bakery (located in another location nearby) and saw how everything was handmade. The food was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend stopping by to enjoy French food, wine and ambience with live piano music playing. We will definitely be back for more. read more

Went in with the hope of getting one of the lunch specials out front but they were only serving breakfast. Our waiter Victor was great and made some good recommendations. Both my wife and I had the breakfast sandwich on a croissant which was quite tasty. Came with fries which were not bad just not what we were expecting. Picked up a chocolate croissant and a jalapeño croissant the next day for a road trip and both were very good. Would recommend. read more

nice staff, good balsamic vinegarette, crossants and baked items. however, I ordered a ham and cheese crossant with fries. the crossant was warm but the ham and sprinkled cheese was served cold which was a bummer. the fries were floppy and soaked in oil leaving a puddle on my plate. not worth the prices. read more

I was so excited for a French bakery and some macarons, I planned this spot into my trip itinerary! I wish I'd thought to come for lunch so I will do that next time but I ended up trying a delicious pecan pastry that brought me back again before my flight home. Staff was very sweet both times and the style of the restaurant is super cool and antique, they even have a stained wood grand piano. Cant wait to go back! read more

The best pastries ever Hope you get a chance to meet the owner, Jean-Pierre. I thought he was a flower man putting fresh flowers in the wine bottle vases to discover he was the owner. I had high hopes for this restaurant. The French toast was just thin bread, even though they say it is brioche. It was dry and it was not good. My eggs were supposed to be over easy and one of the yolks was broken and they were overcooked. Not to mention two eggs, bacon, a croissant and some overdone potatoes was 20 bucks and two crêpes that were flavorless were 25. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

This place is super cute with great pastries! We bought some pastries to go but the chef came out and gave us a complimentary dessert to eat while there. What a nice touch! They have a BOGO promo on the pastries but price the pastries at like $8/each so it's really standard priced in the end. I'd highly recommend overall. The plum tart and pistachio eclair were particularly good. read more

My wife went early as soon as they opened for fresh bread. She asked it if was baked that morning and she said yes. She got it back to the RV and the center was hard frozen. Croissants were ok and not frozen but they had the tiniest bit of chocolate I have ever seen. Horrible place and not honest. Also not answering their phone. Avoid these scammers!!! read more

We had heard of this place from a friend. Went for lunch at around 1:30. We had what was a fancy grilled ham and cheese, edges on the bread were hard. The mimosa was over $20! They closed the kitchen at 2. We asked about their wine, since they have a "tasting room" but we were told they only have "bottom shelf" ( whatever that means). We bought croissants for the morning, picture below, they were empty and not flaky. Not a very exciting place with so-so food. read more

The only reason it's getting two stars is because of the acceptable baguette. Otherwise the over priced menu, quiche that was nothing but shredded cheese and undercooked bacon. To add a surcharge because of "inflation" adds insult to injury. This used to be a favorite stop but no more. read more

This place is so good for breakfast. We went 3 times during our week long stay. The croissants, crepes, and eggs Benedict are delicious. I highly recommend the croissants - both the butter and the chocolate. Our servers during all 3 visits were attentive and friendly. read more

This place is the real deal! Highly recommend for brunch if you're in the area. This is the only brunch place I've ever been to where you walk in and are greeted with live piano music (might be a weekend only thing) before seeing a huge pastry case filled with absolutely delicious-looking pastries - from croissants, to macarons, to cakes - they have it all! Everything looked absolutely delicious. We had a party of 4 & got there around 10:45 on a Saturday and only had to wait 5 or so minutes for a table (& the restaurant was busy, not empty). The menu, while small, has a diverse array of options for all types of eaters. The prices look steep, but the portions are HUGE! I settled on the omelet, which was the biggest omelet I have ever seen. It also came with fresh sliced home fries (delicious) and a homemade buttery, flaky croissant with butter and jam. Everything was absolutely delicious. I got spinach and tomatoes in my omelet and they were pre-seasoned before being put in the eggs which made it extra tasty. When we were getting ready to pay we decided that we wanted to snag a loaf of the sourdough from the pastry cabinet, so we asked for one & the server said she'd throw it in for free. The service was also great with everyone being attentive & efficient. I'm already looking forward to coming here the next time we're visiting the area! read more

My rating is based solely on breakfast bakery take out. We are from out of town and stopped in two times. We generally like chocolate croissants and Bear claws, but deviated to raspberry croissant (both days), a cinnamon roll like French pastry, an orange-chocolate croissant in a different shape. Loved them all. Got some freshly baked shortbread-chocolate looking cookies to go. Every item was delicious. and the two days we came to get pastries were outstanding. We loved the more varied choices in fillings and read more

My wife and I stopped in while exploring downtown Durango and couldn't resist trying a couple of the delicious-looking pastries in the display case. Pretty much everything was 2-for-1. Perhaps that was an afternoon deal to sell remaining items, or perhaps it was a marketing technique to entice people to buy, but either way, we took the bait, and purchased two Napoleons for a total of about $8. I agree with others that getting one for that price seems a bit pricey, but I've gotten used to expecting higher prices in tourist areas. In any case, it was a good deal under the special, and we were extremely happy with the quality of what we purchased, on sale or not. My wife's chocolate espresso Napoleon was perfectly balanced in flavor--not too strong and just the right sweetness. My flan Napoleon was perhaps the best dessert I have ever eaten. The custardy flan was layered on top of a base of raisins (might I say rum raisin?) and was the perfect consistency and flavor. Oh, I hate to think that I won't be able to have another one of those until I return to Durango again! The shop was providing free samples of a couple of other items while we were there--a cookie of some sort and pound cake, which I also tried. The interior is very inviting, and I could see myself sitting at the table near the fireplace on a chilly winter evening with all of the abundant warm decor. I obviously can't vouch for the table-service experience here, since we didn't take advantage of that, but I can certainly recommend giving the pastry items a try. At the very least, my hat's off to Jean-Pierre for the items we thoroughly enjoyed. read more

Understaffed, undercooked, underseasoned. This place is about as French as French fries. A table of four had: Quiche Lorraine. Burnt. Country Breakfast. Potatoes were undercooked to the point of tasting raw. Eggs were undercooked and underseasoned. A second county breakfast. All the salt for the table was on these eggs. Coffee. Coffee was tasty. Expensive. Do yourself a favor and walk around the corner to Denny's. It's about as French. read more

WOW! What a find. So glad I stopped in "just to see what they had". I love pain du chocolate. The elephant ear shaped chocolate and orange was delicious. The apricot filled was delicious, as the fresh apricot dripped from my lips. The server was from Dallas so it was extra cool as well. read more

Beautiful interior; old building with lots of character and nice atmosphere. Prices were very expensive, but luckily we got the lunch special ($12.95 I think) which was a croissant sandwich with side salad and a coffee. Coffee was ok. Hubs got the croque monsieur (also lunch special) and enjoyed it. Delicious, flaky croissant. My girl got the ($20+) berry crepes and enjoyed them. Grandpa bought the sourdough and pound cake from the front, but was disappointed. Pound cake was dry. Pastries were yummy! I tried the cheese and the strawberry. Yum! read more

What are the chances of finding a French bakery in Colorado?? I was pretty surprised when we came upon this cafe'. When we walked in, it was so homey, warm and inviting. At first we were just going to pick something up from the bakery but then we saw they had a cafe', so we decided to get a table and eat. Josh was our server and he was great! He took really good care of us. We weren't super hungry but so we decided to split a Croque Monsieur and we each received a cup of Lobster/Crab bisque. In addition, I enjoyed a delicious glass of Bordeaux. We sat in the bar area where there was a large piano. I was hoping someone would sit down and play but there are probably specific times someone is playing. The bar reminded me of something out of a good western movie and it was definitely a step back in time in terms of decor. Pretty little chandeliers hung from above which gave the room an french feel. We really enjoyed our lunch. The bisque was so rich and creamy. I definitely could have enjoyed a much larger portion had I been a little more hungry. The bread was light and fluffy which made the Croque Monsieur melt in your mouth. The wine was a perfect match so the meal was a success. I would love to return for dinner sometime. We did end up buying something from the bakery after all (chocolate croissants and some cookies). If ever in Durango, stop in for a bite or at least try out a pastry! read more

They are short staffed and I get that. We waited patiently at the front to be seated. Not one staff member acknowledged us. I didn't want to interrupt the busy staff so we waited patiently with several other groups. After 30 minutes one staff member came over and said that she was sorry but they were no longer seating. I asked to speak to the manager. He said he was sorry but they were short staffed. Bad situation all around. This is my go to breakfast place in Durango. This place was recommended to us by some friends that spent their honeymoon here. It was a great breakfast for our last day in Durango. The omelette was one of the best I've ever had. It was all very filling, and I could have been good on the omelette alone, without the potatoes and croissant. I will say this place is very expensive, but you get what you paid for. We only got water because a mimosa would have been like $18, and regular orange juice was $8. Just know that this is an upscale/expensive place before going. My wife got a few things from their bakery on the way out as well. They have all kinds of little cookies and croissants that they make in-house there as well. read more
