2.5 stars. I was excited to try this place but was not anticipating the price tag! (No pastry prices are posted.) Three small pastries came to over $17, so heads-up! The pastries themselves were fine, not memorable, and the service was also unremarkable. We asked for an apple turnover and got peach...and what this bakery advertises as turnovers are definitely *not* turnovers! A fine experience, but I would not return -- the price-to-quality ratio just doesn't justify it. The cutest little bakery! My husband and I stopped here for some coffee and pastries to go on our way home from Pagosa Springs, and we are so glad we did! We love the patisserie sweets we got- very messy to eat in the car, but very worth it! Hubby loved his ham and cheese croissant, and the apricot streudel was one of the most delicious things I've ever had the privilege to put in my mouth. The crunch of the caramelized sugar on the outside, the sweet jamminess of the apricot inside, how it all held together so well.....I don't think I've met a baked good that makes a better companion to coffee! I wish I'd thought to come for lunch so I will do that next time but I ended up trying a delicious pecan pastry that brought me back again before my flight home. We had heard of this place from a friend. Went for lunch at around 1:30. We had what was a fancy grilled ham and cheese, edges on the bread were hard. The mimosa was over $20! They closed the kitchen at 2. We asked about their wine, since they have a "tasting room" but we were told they only have "bottom shelf" ( whatever that means). This place is the real deal! Highly recommend for brunch if you're in the area. This is the only brunch place I've ever been to where you walk in and are greeted with live piano music (might be a weekend only thing) before seeing a huge pastry case filled with absolutely delicious-looking pastries - from croissants, to macarons, to cakes - they have it all! Everything looked absolutely delicious. We had a party of 4 & got there around 10:45 on a Saturday and only had to wait 5 or so minutes for a table (& the restaurant was busy, not empty). The menu, while small, has a diverse array of options for all types of eaters. The prices look steep, but the portions are HUGE! I settled on the omelet, which was the biggest omelet I have ever seen. It also came with fresh sliced home fries (delicious) and a homemade buttery, flaky croissant with butter and jam. Everything was absolutely delicious. I got spinach and tomatoes in my omelet and they were pre-seasoned before being put in the eggs which made it extra tasty. When we were getting ready to pay we decided that we wanted to snag a loaf of the sourdough from the pastry cabinet, so we asked for one & the server said she'd throw it in for free. The service was also great with everyone being attentive & efficient. I'm already looking forward to coming here the next time we're visiting the area! read more

Stopped in to pick up some pastries and grab a cup of coffee. Got the apricot streusel, Apple streusel, and a ham and cheese croissant, all were PERFECT. LOTS of options, it was hard to decide but the streusels were crispy, relatively sweet, with delicious light filling. The croissant was So FLUFFY yet perfect crisp on the outside. It was a lovely light snack to grab rolling through town after not seeing anything for miles. The interior was gorgeous, felt so quaint, elegant, I would have loved to sit down and stayed a while. Location right on Main Street, convenient. But this lessens availability for parking I didn't see anything obvious other than street parking. Coffee was great. My wife and I stopped in while exploring downtown Durango and couldn't resist trying a couple of the delicious-looking pastries in the display case. Pretty much everything was 2-for-1. Perhaps that was an afternoon deal to sell remaining items, or perhaps it was a marketing technique to entice people to buy, but either way, we took the bait, and purchased two Napoleons for a total of about $8. I agree with others that getting one for that price seems a bit pricey, but I've gotten used to expecting higher prices in tourist areas. In any case, it was a good deal under the special, and we were extremely happy with the quality of what we purchased, on sale or not. My wife's chocolate espresso Napoleon was perfectly balanced in flavor--not too strong and just the right sweetness. My flan Napoleon was perhaps the best dessert I have ever eaten. The custardy flan was layered on top of a base of raisins (might I say rum raisin?) and was the perfect consistency and flavor. Oh, I hate to think that I won't be able to have another one of those until I return to Durango again! The shop was providing free samples of a couple of other items while we were there--a cookie of some sort and pound cake, which I also tried. The interior is very inviting, and I could see myself sitting at the table near the fireplace on a chilly winter evening with all of the abundant warm decor. I obviously can't vouch for the table-service experience here, since we didn't take advantage of that, but I can certainly recommend giving the pastry items a try. What are the chances of finding a French bakery in Colorado?? I was pretty surprised when we came upon this cafe'. When we walked in, it was so homey, warm and inviting. At first we were just going to pick something up from the bakery but then we saw they had a cafe', so we decided to get a table and eat. Josh was our server and he was great! He took really good care of us. We weren't super hungry but so we decided to split a Croque Monsieur and we each received a cup of Lobster/Crab bisque. In addition, I enjoyed a delicious glass of Bordeaux. We sat in the bar area where there was a large piano. I was hoping someone would sit down and play but there are probably specific times someone is playing. The bar reminded me of something out of a good western movie and it was definitely a step back in time in terms of decor. Pretty little chandeliers hung from above which gave the room an french feel. We really enjoyed our lunch. The bisque was so rich and creamy. I definitely could have enjoyed a much larger portion had I been a little more hungry. The bread was light and fluffy which made the Croque Monsieur melt in your mouth. The wine was a perfect match so the meal was a success. I would love to return for dinner sometime. This place was recommended to us by some friends that spent their honeymoon here. It was a great breakfast for our last day in Durango. The omelette was one of the best I've ever had. It was all very filling, and I could have been good on the omelette alone, without the potatoes and croissant. I will say this place is very expensive, but you get what you paid for. We only got water because a mimosa would have been like $18, and regular orange juice was $8. Just know that this is an upscale/expensive place before going. This bakery is such a adorable classic place! For all my airline crew peeps this place is well worth the walk in the morning and only five minutes away from the hotel. The inside is gorgeous and they have a beautiful bakery case and next to it a dessert section as well. As you can see by the pictures I've been there a couple of times and well worth the trip every time I'm in Durango. The staff is extremely nice with any questions you have and have great recommendations as well. However, I did not get the star pastry in the photo which is the ham and cheese croissant. Which I missed a couple of times because they sell out so quick. it is perfectly savory and so well baked. not too well done but so soft and buttery. Personal, after going so many times I've come to love the buttery croissant and ham and cheese croissant. Pro tip if you get it to go and you walk down 500 feet towards the river you can watch the river where they are logs along the river edge and you can eat the pastries.
